I ain't tryin' ta bash; but, that is nothing like what JB does. JB always kept his upper body well composed and not wobbling all over the place like jelly. Whatever dance that is ...it looks ridiculous! The movement was mostly in the ankle and foot (not in the hips and torso)- that's what gave the illusion of him gliding about. Ya look like a fish floppin' about on dry land! I am nothing much of a dancer myself but i could fo' sho' out-do that jive!

@anthonythegoodguy Dancing is mostly copying something you saw and like you said adding your own flavor to it. It is rare but definitely possible to create new moves and styles which soon will be imitated across the world.
You cant learn to dance with rythm, you need to be born with it!! Its like singing with your body, thats why many singers also can dance! And to even think about dancing like JB you need to have a very strong and fast flexing muscle type!

Unfortunetly JB moves cant be divided in steps beacuase they are too complicated.

Look, that first JB move you do, (and also at 4:30)... JB doesn't do that to any particular count. he just moves his feet as fast as possible to either the left or right. You totally misrepresented that particular JB step. it's a foot slide; no count at all.
@avp0713 I am teaching it with counts to allow people to get a rhythm for it. You are correct James brown does it with a million more times more energy and flavor. People may do it on count, or just go buck with it like James did.

@ClubDanceLessons - I understand... in the spirit of teaching the dance may be "broken down" so that a novice can get the basic idea.. Perhaps you may put a small text "bubble" noting that JB doesn't actually syncopate that particular foot movement (on the slide)... eh...
There's no way to learn JB dancing by following 1, 2,3, 4, this move, that move, either you've got rhytym and you're a natural dancer or your not - learning by explanation only works for simple routines..doing something like JB is impossible by this route-1234-simple instruction b/c there's just too much involved with JB without you looking a)ridiculous or b) totally coreapgrahed and fake, if you concentrate too much on what you're doing, then you're not dancing. :)

I am teaching in particular one movement of his that I like, I don't do it anywhere near him just like my moonwalk is nothing close to MJ's. i highly recommend you to watch james brown dance video's, the move you got there is cool, not bad at all but you are missing 1 thing, and that's power, you're moving like you worked 24/7 and you don't have the power to move your lazy body, that is what you let me feel about you when i see you dance, put alot more power in it and it will go just fine, keep up the training, feel the music, don't just think about the moves in your head, feel the music, just giving my golden 2 cents here

You are a good teacher. What a lot of people do not understand judging by some of the negative comments is that teaching and knowing what to do are two different things. This man can do it and teach effectively. He breaks things down and is patient. That is what make a good teacher in any subject. If you only know your stuff and cannot express to others then your knowledge and expertise is of no good to anyone else except yourself. This man is patient. HE KNOWS HOW TO TEACH HIS STUFF.

These moves are aimed at beginner/intermediate who'd like to add a few moves to their dance vocabulairy. weither it's a good move or not, the mans trying to teach you something for free and even if it's not applicable for you. it might be for the next guy who stumbles upon this. Who ever let children use the internet, should be slapped.

You are a good teacher. What a lot of people do not understand judging by some of the negative comments is that teaching and knowing what to do are two different things. This man can do it and teach effectively. He breaks things down and is patient. That is what make a good teacher in any subject. If you only know your stuff and cannot express to others then your knowledge and expertise is of no good to anyone else except yourself. This man is patient. HE KNOWS HOW TO TEACH HIS STUFF.

These moves are aimed at beginner/intermediate who'd like to add a few moves to their dance vocabulairy. weither it's a good move or not, the mans trying to teach you something for free and even if it's not applicable for you. it might be for the next guy who stumbles upon this. Who ever let children use the internet, should be slapped.
