  • Love this song... sends me back 30 years in time in a sec...

  • amazing

  • Esta version es superior, muy bueno!!!

  • Who needed the Beatles to reunite in the 1970s? Not with this song. This is the best Beatles song George Harrison never wrote. Awesome.

  • This was gonna be the song on the end of cloudy with a chance of meatballs! lol, but it didnt go, so they made the song its raining sunshine sung by miranda cosgrove ;)

  • This and Turn to stone are my all time favs. the chords are incredible..tightrope is another amazing song by elo.

  • elo is great !

  • I love the Olivia version, but i gotta admit..this is pretty good :)

  • I love ELO but the Xanadu that Rush put out in the 70's is heads and shoulders, in sound and technical skill, above this one.

  • @Satonica It's not even the same song, same name but it's not the same song.

  • @nathantylersturgi @ @nathantylersturgill-[-READ/SATONICA] -I LOVE ELO, but the song 'Xanadu' that RUSH [recorded much earlier[1977] than the ELO version[1980] for an album [A Farewell to Kings]where in RUSH showed itself as a band HEAD & SHOULDERS in proficiency, talent & technical skills], is because RUSH you never find them resting on their laurels, and they are constantly upping their game. Can you tell I'm a RUSH fan girl yet?

  • @1ESAKRAZii3 Geddy Lee Roth!!!!! Rotflmao.........XD

  • @nathantylersturgill @ As an aside, Olivia Newton John also starred in an 80's film, performing "Zanadu" as part of the soundtrack, performing WITH ELO. Not impressive. YES, Nathan, you are right, their is only one rendition of "XANADU" and it is done by Geddy ee, Neil Peart, & Alex Lifeson.

  • I can't believe no one has posted Xanadu the movie on here

  • Although both versions are great, I definitely like ONJ's better. The there's a good contrast between the broad range of her voice that seems more magical than this.

  • what ever happened to originality like elo i'm 35 and listen mainly to 70's and 80's can't stand the crap coming out today jeff lynne is the man

  • Just seen a tribute band to ELO(The ELO Experience-brilliant,if you like ELO you gotta see 'em!)-didn't realise this was ELO's ONLY "number 1"(with ONJ);still prefer this version, though Olivia Newton John's one was still damned good....LOL

  • We don't have creative bands/musicians anymore ELO gave us so many masterpieces. This is a superb song but Olivia did more with it.

  • It must be a generational thing. If hadn't heard the original, this one would be spectacular. But, give me the original :o)

  • Beatlesque.

  • Wow it is a very interestin version. Great, this is ELO.

  • A better production than the original and slightly slower, give it a more mellow feel. Prefer this version.

  • gr88t tune rip kelley groucut you are missed.

  • --goes back to one of the first shows i saw back at the old BOSTON GARDEN [RIP]. great version. great band. love it. 64citykid.

  • A trip back to my 20's years , SEA and THE HUSTLE!!!!!

  • I have never heard this version before. I think I prefer Olivia's version.

  • Rush is rulers of Xanadu forever!

  • It's better than Cookies!!!

  • Awesome,love ELO

  • Very good ,in fact i never heard this one before, but i think i will go to the version with the blonde. Thank You ELO,you are the greatest.

  • Some segments when Jeff sings "Xanadu"" he sounds like Roy Overson.

  • Well, all I know is; if the only thing I had ever done in my life was to have written this song, I'd be pretty pleased :)

  • I still like this song. Classic ELO pop.

  • I always hated this version. It sounds like a half-finished demo. There is almost no emotivity in it unlike the ELO songs in the actual movie ("I'm Alive", "Don't Walk Away", etc).

  • E.L.O. Rocks!!!

  • i agree onj version is far better but it ELO backing that makes athe Xanadu soundtrack what it is MAGNIFICENT without ELO this soundtrack wouldnt be half as good!!!

  • ELO are one of the best bands ever but this was made for lovely Olivia. Jeff and the Guys were perfect as back-up. Still love their music though!!

  • Being a fellow Brummie, I adore ELO. But I can't help thinking that the drumming in virtually all of Jeff Lynne's subsequent projects sounds exactly the same - this version of the song for example could just as easily be a Travelling Wilbury's song!

  • Like This version but ONJ is better cause she puts more power to the voice. This one works too, proves that the song worth is it.

  • they are kind of undersinging it!

  • WHO SINGING?

  • J E F F L Y N N E

  • he has a lot of voice!!thank yoy

  • Sometimes it pays off challenging the gods, as it all depends on just how much you want something :)

  • It's a good song for driving at night

  • I love this version! I love the Olivia Newton-John version (with ELO as backup) but this is much better! Jeff did a great job on it! I too mrzeegrr have been an ELO fan since I was 7 years old (1976 was my first taste of them!). I'm 39 now and I still love them just as much! Magnificient band and my favorite band too! Take a look at my profile and you'll see why!

  • I love this version because ELO seemed to be abandoned in the movie 'Xanadu'..I think it's really not fair not to involve ELO in 'person' in the movie..I must admit I was a bit dissapointed seeing only the Tubes! But Gene Kelly is too great for the show!!

  • Different.Wonderfull. I do buy their music.For 30+ years.

  • I like both versions. This one is more nuts and bolts, Jeff Lynne singing is an improvement. Plus there's an interesting little guitar part that really stands out for me that I didn't hear on the original version. Classic song from my childhood, still sounds good today.

  • This version is actually better than the original. Pure ELO. It makes thee hairs on thee neck stand up. Wonderful.

  • Well, I think that goes without saying.

  • great peice of songwriting, i like this version as much as the lovely olivia doing the vocal. legend jeff lynne, wilburys etc

    hes just a legend

  • It's superior, monumentally superior.

  • first time to hear this version, thanks ELO is music for all times.

  • great...great.One of my favourite song of all time

  • Jeff changed the lyrics slightly on this version... I think....Well either his memory is bad or my hearing is defective.

  • He was just having fun with his own version I agree with you he did change the lyrics from the original this version can be found on as the box set Flashback ELO released in 2000 and no you are not going deaf

  • Much, much better IMO.

Thre other has it's place, no doubt of that though.

  • The ONJ version is v good but this is a FANTASTIC version!!! Too bad that JL didn`t do a video! I bought the CD for THIS song!

  • Does anyone know where I can download this?

  • buy their music.

  • excellent

  • Ahhhh XanadU...It's a new drug similar to Viagra and I just got mine in the mail...it's simply a vhs tape of just a comilation of Olivia Newton-John's scenes from XanadU...and I'm here to tell you--It Fookin Works!!!

  • hahhaaha. i never realized that until i listened closely haha. sounds funny.

  • Thank you for posting the song

  • what video?

  • I was being sarcastic.

  • much better !

  • I like it beter too! pretty cool video too :-P

  • much better than olivia's version

  • no olivia is still better shes a wonderful singer

  • actually, Jeff Lynne a.k.a the original ELO wrote this song for Olivia. I think both Lynne and Farrar are the best minds in mellow music (so I called it) But I don't think we can start comparing between the two. I think both ELO and ONJ's version are good

  • True! It took me time to adapt though.

But having it sing by a man sounds also pleasing to a woman's hears!

  • this version is so much better than olivias version not that im nocking olivia newton john cause shes fantastic i fancied her when i was a kid and still do now lol lol lol

  • If you want just this song it can be downloaded from itunes too.

  • It's on the third CD of the flashback set

  • @elofan and their very best of

  • I SO want this version of the song! :)

  • 5 Star Song!

  • the singer sounds like my friend thaler... if anyone cares

  • Fantastic band - great songs, great singer!
