  • I think why shouldn't criticize the man for this. This isn't one of my favourite songs by him for sure but I think it's a more commercial and "easy to hear" approach and I think it fits that album well! I don't think it's a bad song at all. Still we can't see the real Avishai magic here :). Greetings from Portugal!

  • I heard this on the radio a few nights ago, and thought - I gotta get this song. But I really never expected it to be by Avishai Cohen, I have his Continuo album, which is light-years from what he plays (and sings) here... But I think all this has been said already :O

  • Okay... Avishai is a guy who likes good music, but also the accessible side... I wouldn't say this is bad, but for those who like the "underground" part of Avishai like, beautiful edgyness and rythm complexity, we are a bit far from it here... But I'm sure Avishai has a few good albums left to be done.

  • anyone who has the lyrics in english??

  • noooooooo!!!!11 avishai, what have you done?!11

  • This is easily one of the best pop there is.

  • its like a summer breeze

  • we r no good to judge him...he is a proven artist, so he can do whatever he finds right, and the song is realy okay

  • TOV MEOD

  • kol hakavod

  • @rivkabatsheva: it's a Yemenite song translated into Hebrew

  • actually i like this video yes he is a lot better then this i agree but its still great !

  • very good

  • This is actually a very beautiful song when you really listen to it..... Not a disappointment to me. One of my favs from Avishai.

  • Is there anyone that could provide some lyrics + translation? So curious. Keep on being awesome, avi ^-^

  • Why am I not surprised?

  • Sounds like the schlock Trilok Gurtu did in the early 2000s before he got back to making challenging music again. Bills have to be paid I guess. Anyone who hasn't heard Avshai Cohen's trio should give that a listen, it's so much more interesting!

  • might sound better in english for us, does have some really interesting lines but then the flem takes over so.....i suppose its a good song but theres a language barrier

  • Does someone know the lyrics? I mean, it's ok "Shuvi elai, shuvi eleinu, bishvileh, bishvil sheinu" but I miss the other words! Too many "ch" :)

  • Love this! It's so smooth...

  • This is crap. This guy is jive.

  • I like this song! Indeed he has other, more beautiful songs but he, give the man some space!

  • Can't say i'm a huge fan of this kind of music, but if anyone is going to tackle this genre then I'm glad its him.

  • What a great song! I think some of the double bass player were hoping for a smoking hot bass line and feel let down, but in any case he plays bass, sings nice, and overall a great composer! Mazel tov Avi

  • great song!!!

  • Absolutly wonderfull... Great talent!

  • He is a great artist! very talented..

  • Can someone write lyrics in latin pleaseee?

    Thank you so much

  • Great video - great ambient.....

Maybe the concept is broken cause Avishai has two roles in it (actor and narrator ).... Silhouette of two of them is powerful enough, shame it didn't stay that way...

  • i like everything avishai does, even tho this is a bit mainstream, he covers sooooo many different "styles", so i can deal with him branching out into a more mainstream lighter sound. he never really does the same style album twice either. but gently disturbed is his hands down best.

  • Still, way too mainstream...I miss his aggressive and weird ass meter with somehow a perfect tempo music.

  • great song !!!

  • im not a huge fan of his other stuff....

    just not my personall taste

    but i LOVE this

probably because its israeli and i love everything israeli

    be'emet madhim

  • avi please! dont do it again!

  • just a question... is this the type of music he is currently playing on his tours? I wanna see him as a bassplayer, I'm not gonna pay to see him sing...

  • What the fuck? He is a bassist and a damn good one. Srsly Wtf?

  • I guess every musician needs to make a buck now and then...

  • ew this is really disappointing. he's better than this.

  • @keytarjunkie Well, he is better than this, but hey, its not a bad song compared to some of the stuff on modern radio...

  • @keytarjunkie Indeed. He's better than this. But just cause he's singing in a bit pop song doesn't means he became bad.

  • @keytarjunkie this may not be cohen's awesome jazz, but he is a hardworking music trying to get a little publicity. as a pop song, its catchy, instrumentally interesting. i love the mixture of electronic and middle eastern instruments.

if you let the song stand alone, without thinking about his other stuff, you might not be so disappointed.

  • @jsrarbel - yepp! i've heard him in riga, man is great, he knows a bite of jazz but there is no reason, nor moral neither professional to refrain from pop music - it is just another way to explore and realise musical capabilities and in this case i think Avishai had a very succesful experience

  • SHUVI ELAI

  • I went to his show, and it was this kind of music... I was so disapointed, this doesn't move me at all

  • strange.. i mean, this is just one song. i went to his concert about 4 weeks ago. they played pieces from aurora, the show was simply AMAZING!

  • I am amazed...what a passion in the music!

  • music is not good or bad because it is or isn't pop. listen past the style. it's a good song.

  • I second that.

  • best bassist ever

  • Aerf didn't expect that from him... makes me sad

  • me to !!!

  • I like this song very much. He's a fantastic musician, The album "continuo" is marvelous. I really enjoy the israeli roots

  • Avishai is now my personal hero!

  • great

  • he's gonna be the next sting!

    (if he ain't already)

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!

    what does it mean tho???

  • shuvi elai--in hebrew--return to me--check out his video--nu nu

  • I love this, I think he marries his talent to pop music uncommonly well and raises the bar of pop. Plus he's so easy on the eyes. :)

  • I think he is one of the greatest contemporary bass players but i dont like it as a pop singer.

  • me neither

  • Yeah, I totally agree with that Avishai can make Pop music also =)

  • beautiful song

    Wooww !! Really nice !

  • WOW! Metzu'ian! Pop-Jazz Yehudì Yam Ha'Tichoní bilti blue notes ve sweet notes! Rak madrigot doriot ve frigiot!

"Bishvil Shnenu" - for both of us

    I hope this is correct.

and I so hope that someone from Israel will post complete lyrics.

    PLEASE... :)

i wasn't able to find it on Internet.

  • If you will go by yourself tonight, the stars will accompany you. Sea wind will whisper into your heart, will fill your body. And, if you will ask for my body's warmth I will get out to the night, I will look for a star that will light my way, and will bring me to you. Come back to me; come back to us for you, for both of us. Come back to me; come back to us for you, for both of us
  • tight.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • I didn't know he sand.

    Not bad.

  • what record is this off of...i cant find it on itunes.....

  • Don't understand the lyrics, but like said below, I totally feel the power of music. Avishai Cohen is an amazing musician. That tune is very well written. Love the electric bass playing on that.

  • I don't understand one word he is saying but I fell absolutely in love with this song...Ah the power of music!

  • can anyone provide either a translation or the lyrics themselves. he is absolutely fantastic.

  • Comment removed

I just love him, his work is great

  • sick song yo!!!!!!!!!! keep up the Israeli music .....Lovely

  • Bravooo!!

  • great composer great musician ... and why not some pop song sometimes ... if it's doin' with love & honest it's beautiful and i like very much "shuvi elay" !!!

  • I think this is chill and demonstrates his diversity as a true artist !

  • I am very familiar with all of Cohen's work and, like in Simple Melody and How Long, maybe he's trying to tell the world something. This time though, it is in his native language. So its not a matter of selling out at all. Its simply how he can get a message across to the public.

  • Just because someone makes a pop song doesn't mean that they are necessarily selling out. He is too talented to do something like that. Obviously this is more poppy than his other stuff but it seems to me that he wouldn't record something if he wasn't happy with it being solid musically. Yes it might be considerably less interesting but it is still musical. I prefer his other stuff too, but as a musician I understand wanting to write something different sometimes.

  • and there is only good music and bad music.

Just because it is pop don't make it bad...

    ^^

  • Can someone tell me if Avishai released the album containng this song and what's the title? Thanks!

  • It's called Shaot Regishot. :)

  • No one here will disagree that Avishai is an artist deserving far greater recognition than he currently receives. If he's okay with releasing a kinda poppy song like this one to reach a more diverse audience, what's at issue here? So long as he continues to persue his own interests, I'll definitely follow his music with interest...

  • I'm with you.

  • oh come on. My one inspiration that an Israeli musician can succeed doing his own thing going so poppy, it makes me really sad. His other music is amazing though, but c'mon!

  • this is so rockin

  • wow. this is terrible. for a man capable of such brilliance to come out with this pop drivel is saddening.

  • come on it is so chilling

  • It sounds really beautiful

  • Some days ago in Kiev (jazz festival) he was the best jazz musician (along with Al Jarreau). It was a great show. Deep and beautiful music.

  • the best jazz composer ever and composer in gerneral

  • echeeeeeeeccc

  • Well it mostly repeats the theme of "come back to me, come back to us, for me, for the sake of both of us". I can not imagine a sane woman who would disagree.

  • Thanks for the translation. The language sounds beautiful. It makes me feel like learning Hebrew and visiting Israel.

  • Let me know if you decide to do so... i might be able to help..

  • It sounds beautiful even though I cannot understand a word of hebrew. What is the song about?

  • it's a love song, a man is calling to his beloved to come back...

    that's all. very nice.

  • This song is amazing, really takes me back to Israel...

  • what is the sound about?

  • me too, Glad someone understands ! Interesting use of background call of muezzin and real oriental/Israeli rhythms and melodies
