shouldnt they be moving from cover to cover? i under stand its a live fire training, but it just seams that it would better prepare them to look for cover (or at least concealment) rather than walking in a line formation.
The purpose of this training was for quick target acquisition, yes you are right you shuld seek cover. But in an Urban enviroment during a dismounted patrol it may be better to quickly neutralize a target then to run and seek cover thus increasing the enemies oppurtunity to land a shot on you while running.
Though the front sight can get in the way, Id rther have a front sight ot use in conjunction with the back up rear sight in case the red dot fails. Which happens more then you may think.

@USArmyZ28 Here is some real shit, We rolled out a few times with an MP unit that for some strange reason had missions reconning ambush sites at night. They got into TIC's atleast once a week and had a female Captain. Paktika Province, Afghanistan 2007.

The point of the training is quick target acquisition simulating a dismounted patrol. With safety in mind. Living in the ghetto doesnt make you a super man, just an uneducated fucking moron. @12GaugeLosAngeles Secondly. This is one of many fire excersizes Army personel go through, this one covering a minimal-cover line formation approach. If you pay attention, they are also teaching how to cover a man while reloading and how to properly communicate that.. this isn't the only excersize they do for MOUT.

shouldnt they be moving from cover to cover? i under stand its a live fire training, but it just seams that it would better prepare them to look for cover (or at least concealment) rather than walking in a line formation.

The purpose of this training was for quick target acquisition, yes you are right you shuld seek cover. But in an Urban enviroment during a dismounted patrol it may be better to quickly neutralize a target then to run and seek cover thus increasing the enemies oppurtunity to land a shot on you while running.

Though the front sight can get in the way, Id rther have a front sight ot use in conjunction with the back up rear sight in case the red dot fails. Which happens more then you may think.
