  • Nice man!

  • how long are they

  • who are the JB Hunt containers made by

  • I correct myself. I was watching Norfolk Southern onYoutube on Saturday. I live in Harrisburg,PA. Hershey is just 10 miles east. Anyway on this one video, a Norfolk Southern train had autoracks on a intermodal train. This was in Hershey.

  • Knowing that sounds of actual trains are used in these videos,...do you, or have you ever attempted to match your model consist to the actual train used for the sound?

  • @RailRide Kind of - I used an intermodal train sound bite on my baretable video but have not actually tried to match exact consist movements. hmmm.......

  • Thanks. I will keep that in mine.

  • Does the railroad really put autoracks on intermodal trains?

  • @agentM1991 Yes. Autoracks are considered intermodal traffic on a lot of railroads. You need to watch more real train youtube vids.

  • @wesolint Is it common to see autoracks on mixed freight, or are they usually on intermodal of unit trains?

  • @agentM1991 I've seen them common on both types of trains. I don't think they have a real "home". In my home town area, the BNSF runs a dedicated autorack train as well as adding blocks of them to container trains. The UP however, runs them with mixed freight on the branchline they have here. I have also seen a few in mixed freight BNSF trains from time to time.

  • @wesolint I live by the Norfolk Southern Lugan Line. I have never seen auto racks on a intermodal train. I have seen auto unit trains. On a line that leads to the Enola Yards I have seen autoracks on mixed freight trains.

  • @agentM1991 Maybe it's not a standard practice on the NS but it sure is on the BNSF around here. I will try to catch one on film and load it up for you (and everyone else) to see here on the "Tube".

  • @wesolint Sound great thanks.

  • @agentM1991 I saw a train yesterday thru Spokane that was 1/2 stack train and 1/2 autoracks.

  • @wesolint I live near the Norfolk Southern. I have never seen autoracks on an intermodal train. I have seen them on Youtube vidoes.

  • very nice......

  • Great movie, scenery, train, and sounds!! I subbed!

Also, at 0:40...Where'd you get the Long Runner??

  • Thanks! The long runner is a Walthers kit. You can still find them on ebay once in a while but they usually go for a very high amount.

  • @wesolint Great! Thank you

  • 2 don't like it, what kind of numb nut don't like it?

  • WMG (Warner Music Group) really bites the hand that feeds it. I will no longer purchase their products.

  • Wow, great train!

  • i love that stack train / autorack train. that was a very good shot. that layout was awesome. nice video

  • mtrails custom painted it and gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago.

  • you and i have the same taste in trains amtrak superliner and bnsf intermodal

  • Cool !

  • You guys run some long trains. That makes them very realistic

  • Thank you. Most of the club members don't run them as long as I do.

  • Nice train, nice mix of eras.

  • I don't get it. What eras did I mix? With the exception of the leased MRL SD45, that's pretty much what an intermodal train looks like around my part of the BNSF system.

  • I think he meant that you have 85' flats on this train, which were all gone from intermodal service by the late 1980s. 89' flats still remain. Also, your 40' UPS dropframe trailers with the red and yellow stripes have been gone since the early '90s. In addition, Schneider National hasn't used 48' trailers in intermodal service since the early '90s either.

  • By the way, I'm not trying to nitpick, this is just my particular niche in the hobby. This is a great looking train, better than most I've seen out there!

  • I can't make better comments that haven't already been said. However, what I truly enjoyed was the speed of the model that reflects the speed of the prototype. I've seen my share of model trains running a prototype 90 mph on 18" curves and that to me is something I'm not interested in.

You nailed it !! ...very nice. Now about the tank, is there a VFW or American Legion that was modelled and just out of sight on the right ??

  • Thanks for the most excellent compliment! The tank is a war memorial at a park (I think).

  • There are a few container loading models available including a Mi-jack. By the way, I am 50 years old and worked for the BN 1990-1994 as a conductor.

  • You're sure that's what those are? I thought they were HO scale models - lol.

  • awsome layout

  • Thanks, I've got a bunch more 89' flats that I'm still working on plus some of those new Athearn 53' 3-unit spine cars.

  • very great layout but bad tracks on and behind the crossings gotta say

  • Flattery and sugar coating will get you nowhere. Give it to me straight, I can take it...........

  • okk

  • Great job matching the sound effects with the train. Well done!

  • Thanks. The layout was built by many people.

  • Nice, you matched the sound perfectly

  • Thank you. I used sounds from a real train.

  • Hey Steve, I have Schneiders on my layout too.

They are one of the best I've seen.

  • I'm in the process of building a modern JB Hunt mixed intermodal that will include lots of Schneider, Yellow, Roadway, UPS, and whatever else I see go by on these things. Stay tuned, it outta be good!

  • DANG! thats a long train! hey that rimed lol 5*s!

  • Almost - thanks

  • love those schiender trailers they run a train of nothing but them here on the kcs

  • I like 'em too. I have 6 or 7 more of them in the 53' length that are waiting for me to finish building the flat cars for. I'm also reserving 3 of them for the new Athearn spine car due out soon.

I have seen vids, here on YouTube, of the all Schneider trains you speak of. They are cool!

  • 0:40. A tripple 57' flatcar pair! is that the Walthers model?

  • Yes

  • Hey Steve. I also just love those BIG cars, doublestacks, and autoracks... keep 'em coming.

  • Thank Peter, you know I will.......

  • Cool stuff!

  • Thank you, more to come.

  • Awesome! So was the SD45 a lead engine helper on that BNSF train? :P

  • Leased power and leading all the way...........

  • Awesome!!

  • Thanks, I think it turned out pretty cool.

  • Cool Video Steve. Always love them Intermodal. The first engine, was that an unpatched MRL ?

  • That engine represents a unit acquired by the MRL and "patched" with MRL markings and numbers prior to being painted in the MRL scheme. This particular engine never made it to the paint booth and was sold to a local regional railroad in my area (the Pacific Northwest).

After seeing it in one of my vids, Jeremy (mtrails) custom detailed & painted this model and GAVE IT TO ME for Christmas last year.

  • awesome love it

  • This was the maiden voyage for alot of the cars. I think I'm lovin it too.

  • cool nice video

  • Thanks

  • I so jealous lol thats great stuff there and the scenery is great

  • Thanks. Don't be jealous, you can come & watch anytime you like!

  • Cool intermodal. I have that exact same JB Hunt container!

  • There are about 4 different makers/styles of the JB Hunt container on this train. You probably do have one like one of them.

  • dueling intermodals ?...duda dun dun dun dun da dun! lol

  • Squeal like a PIGgy-back. LOL

  • Awesome video. Very cool.

  • Thanks much.

  • Thanks Josh. Are you going to the club picnic?

  • Excellent

  • Coming soon to a layout near you......

  • nice! very realistic!

  • Thank you. You really think so? Cool.

  • oh yea!

  • sweet great job!!!

  • Thank you

  • nice consist and sound!

  • Thanks

  • nice train Steve, i like yours better lol.

Nice MRL lead unit, is that the one jeremy gave you?

  • Thanks Adam. Yup, that's it!

  • Thanks Adam - I hope Nick doesn't send you a stink bomb..........

  • i love those long trains, theyre just hard to keep rolling! everything needs to be perfect! nice vid

  • I spend a great deal of time making sure my trains run good - so I can get cool shots like this! Thanks.
