You can't judge these engines by these pictures.

you can't say it has better lighting in Crytek if all you see is how some guy set it up.

I've seen realistic lighting in Unreal 3 Tech Demos, I saw one where it was raining at night and you could see a warped refraction of the Neon Lights in the wet street Pavement and I was walking home in the Rain and saw that in real Life and I was like "Hey, it looks like the unreal 3 demo I saw"

Let me explain. Unreal Engine is the second best engine ever made(imo) but the way it works is best for FPS arena based game. The graphic filters usually associated to UE give the engine a true feel of a "futuristic FPS" game, that borders on steampunk. It is also knows that UE is less component hungry. Its counterpart Cry engine, requires serious PC power and is associated with open world scenery, as it's potential is most evident. Filters associated render the scenery closer to realism.

@jackmarsilva Gears of War used Unreal Engine 3. All of the Gears of War games did.

Unreal Engine 3 is beautiful, but nobody is using its full potential. Epic them selves showed what it was capable of in the Samaritan demo, but all products using UE3 still look like something that could easily have come out 4 years ago. Crysis is not even that impressive anymore.

CryEngine isn't optimized and get's really laggy even if your computer meets the requirements.

Taking a bit time making a game with Unreal Engine you can get the same quality with optimized performance.

The problem I have with the Unreal 3 Engine is that it has some serious aliasing issues, and this is apparent for practically any game that you make in it. I mean, you could be running 2x580s in SLI and turn up every graphical feature to 11, and it would still have a very rough and jagged look to it.

That was a mix between CryEngine 2 and 3 vs Unreal Engine 3...

But, both engines are great in their own way. Unreal Engine 3 is designed to offer good graphics at good performance and outstanding gameplay. And the CryEngine 2 is made mostly for outstanding graphics.
