  • That was cool

  • wish car reviews were just like that today.

  • what about corners?

  • Smarter than you I guess as I imagine that he can spell...

  • whoa that guys super smart! less wait plus more power= faster car! who would have thought!

  • hmmmmm the old ZR-1 had 4 cams per cylinder,,,,while the new one doesn't ?.... mean...

  • @faisalabulaziz1 you mean 4 valves per cylinder?

  • Miami Vice!

  • The shape of the cars of the 30's and 40's were beautiful. Why did car makers start to make cars look like a matchbox on wheels.

  • dude my lt1 does almost the same sound yes i know its not the lt5

  • my dream car...

  • I think I found what I plan on buying as a graduation gift to myself.

  • @Octavarium454 i wish i would have instead of my truck, but now i can make it through the snow we get where i live (2 or 3 2ft+storms a year and icy tarmac all winter) took one to my senior prom in hs, when i was riding with the owner he told me to punch it, i tell you what even these old vettes are pretty quick cars

  • holy shit...0-60 in 4.3 seconds...that's super fast back in 1992!

  • @brettvett1 i think 4.3 seconds now is still fast even now. i think the srt8 challenger does about the same time if im not wrong.

  • @brettvett1 thats super fast now

  • @brettvett1

    thats super fast today.

  • Note also how he "prepares" his left leg for that very quick clutch actuation by tapping it a few times beforehand.

  • 1:57 is amazing! John Heinricy and Rick Mears, what a combination.

  • I agree. Any car I ever buy better be tested like this!

  • Did Heinricy do a video like this for the new ZR-1's as well?

  • i thot the zr1 was completely new for 2009?

  • I like the latter C4 vettes, the better dash and sucha dn the rounded front and rear. C5 meh.. I love the C6 vette

  • exactly how i feel. 100 percent

  • Thats how you shift.

My dad powershifts my 300zx and the damn 2nd sync is goin out

  • thats isnt good on the dragstrip where u shift @ 7000 rpm:P but still the sync is redoable for something around 450 (in canada)

  • must be using, uncle bens minute rice instead of premium white .

  • if he snatched that shifter any harder he'd rip it out. in 2:03

  • lol come on dude, i think that old man is a pretty good shifter

  • He was manhandling that shifter like he was powershifting a kenworth! I've heard those trannys require a lot of muscle to shift

  • lol yeah they do.. but he's about to rip the bitch clean out of the floor boards. and my dads ZR-1 is easy to shift. i guess he just wanted to see how much it could withstand, or show its durability.

  • lol. yea but the older corvettes in this era including the c5 era had such harsh shifters. they nearly broke ur hand back then. the newer c6 corvettes have excellents shifters because its sooo smooth that u can shift with one finger. its soo amazing now.

  • Nice video. The C4 is my favorite vette

    90 L-98 red metallic

    95 ZR-1 - black

  • Agreed!!!! gotta love the low profile look of the C4

  • This is in the video that all 1992 Corvettes got with them when they were still new. While I no longer have my 1992 Corvette I still have this video that came with the car. It was given to all Corvettes both the regular LT-1 and the ZR-1 as part of the owners manual. Other sections of the vhs tape talks on how to operate the cars switches and how all the new LT-1 and ASR work and there is a part of the tape about the new tires that year etc.

  • LMAO! @ 2:00

...If i ever shift like that, just shoot me!

It looks like he's ripping a dead cat from his console. LOL

  • John Heinricy has forgotten more about driving than mortals will ever know.

  • POWER SHIFTING WHOOOO!!!!. That how you shift go old man

  • dam that old man shifting the shit out that car lol

  • @BizzyGamb

John Heinricy (now retired) was a hard-charging, hard-driving, SCCA-winning, engineer and executive at General Motors.

Many people have claimed that the C4 Corvette - and the C4, "original" ZR-1 in particular - were as good as the were against the competition due in large part to John's influence.

He was one of the few "suits" who not only knew everything there was to know about his profession, but who wasn't afraid to rool up his sleeves and get down and dirty, either.

  • @BizzyGamb

    HAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • @BizzyGamb This is the engineer for GM that set the lap record with the CTS-V at "The Ring" in Germany. He's a very good driver.

  • am a Viper fan but you cant say you dont like the old ZR-1, corvettes are a great cars, but i love the Viper GTS

  • I love corvettes, espeashaly my 1992. the c4 vette lowest vette ever made, love it.

  • Nice review! lol, this video is posted on the day of my birthday. I love Corvettes, they stand out from the crowd on the road.
