In the wild budgies do not bathe or wash in water or puddles or the like, they just rummage around through wet dewy grass, damping their feathers rather than soaking them, as soaking their feathers stops them from flying. This is a great technique as it mimics their natural behaviour, bravo!

Lettuce is fine in moderation, too much and it takes up space in its little tummy where better veggies should be :) This is fin though, your budgie is adorable :)

@elsielsie703 sometimes you have to give your bird a bath in teh sink....my lovebird wasnt fond of "forced baths" but he'd start to smell otherwise....plus when he would go through his "faux mating" he'd get vomit all over himself and they needed to be washed off.

@Madcla95 you obiously dont know much about budgies then do you, lettuce is very good for your birds as is many green foods. some are poisionous to budgies but not lettuce, so go read up on it before you make yourself look an idiot!

My budgie / parakeet loves water. Well, whenever I wash my hands or something, she listens to the water, and like, chirps. She's so cute! Yeah, I think budgies (i call them parakeets) really love the sound of the tap.

I had a budgie bird too she was a female and she was green she was beautiful and she also LOVED to swim like this bird . She knew how to open her cage and she flew over the sink .You are so lucky always love this bird never minds what she or he does because if she or he dies believe me you will cry for those times you wanted to kill him or her . :'(

@beefygotspoon Lettuce. My budgie gets over-excited about a small piece of parsley in the water and it'll set him to bath mode any day. I think budgies tend to go in the water when there is sth else in there letting them know how deep the water is, and I guess it makes them feel safer.

@zeddystar have you tried letting the water run a little like in this video? the sound of water usually gets my budgies feathers ruffled up. Maybe you can splash the water a little using your hand while your budgie is near, to encourage him/her?

@Ch1ka aww no use. tried everything. Im not to sure why its scared of water. and its also scared of the noise of water. even when its a little sound....

I think it hates baths cause this guy said he knew how to cut the birds wings, so we let him but he cut the wrong feathers and now until now it hurts my little budgie really bad :(

But will still give it a bath cuz birds really need it :P

I'm noticing some budgies look bigger then others, like you'rs...he/she looks a lot bigger, or is that just me..

I reckon he is normal sized, because I used to have two english budgies and they were huge. His mum was a small normal budgie thats where his head feathers come from and his dad was a lupino who are quite slim and thats where is pink feet come from :) but he does like eating so he might be fat for all i know o.O
