  • i would have died to save him

  • @sTapleEVA I like You!

  • we miss youuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!! :(

  • Rest in peace Jeff.

  • I keep thinking to myself that the world would not have gotten just so bad if Jeff Buckley still were alive...

  • Thinking so hard on her soft eyes,

And the memories, offer signs that it's over.

  • 1.35 - 1.40.

  • jeff would have been 45 today. light a candle for him. most beautiful singer ever heard.

  • @roisina1 Maybe... a little prayer...

  • Dusky tune.

  • @katalsyt Very well-said.

  • We are a new band from Ontario Canada - up and coming - and would love for you all to subscribe to our you tube channel, as we will be posting some Jeff Buckley Cover Videos soon - Please join up and we look forward to bringing some of Jeff's great music your way!! live!!! - including Mojo Pin and Last Goodbye ;) /user/BrianBaileyOnline?blend=22&ob=5

  • kiss me, please kiss me

  • Did you say "no this can't happen to me?" Did you rush to the phone to call? Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind saying "maybe I didn't know him at all?"

  • Seven Leonard Cohen are still bitter.

  • I want that Rickenbacker.

  • one great song one great singer song writer i miss him and his dad

  • @fizzygillespie The only thing YOU gave us, is just your lame youtube comment. Nothing more.

  • 7 dislikes, wtf ??

  • @alansaraiva must be a youtube bug

  • does anyone know what tuning jeff's guitar is in for this song?

  • @xxwantedxx Open G

  • @xxwantedxx Open G...

  • I think music like this is what's lacking at our time now. Datings and breakups are no longer taken seriously, some (saddly) are made through text and all that crappy sh*t.

But once you listen to this song, there's so much more than it. If you pay attention to the lyrics, Jeff has turned a break-up inyo something so poetic, so beautifully sad.

That's what we don't have in our society anymore. Poetry. We miss you Jeff, rest in peace.

  • @Deep0cean14 wonderfully insightful comment. i concur.

  • @Deep0cean14 absolutely correct dude...

  • "Why don't she call me, when she knows what it does to me... ?". So true...

  • @Mentaclink one of his most brilliant impromptu lines...

  • Comment removed

  • His Dad, Tim Buckley was awesome.

  • Wow.

  • I thought i'd say something, on how great he really is....But why? you all must see his light. He has a gift...i call it "the light". Sorry, not tryin to be weird, hes got a light around him. Anyone else see this?

  • @Laynefreeborn Fucking quaker.

  • @Laynefreeborn He was one of the few gifted who burned very brightly and was extinguished all too soon. He loss is sorely felt in the music world!

  • Who cares about who's generation did what? Just listen to Jeff & be quiet.

  • God damn it, why whenever I go to listen to some 60', 70's, 80's and 90' stuff there has to be a ton of hipsters saying "Oh my God my generetion's music is so lame. I wish to grow up in 60's/70's/80's/90's". Oh, really? Who the fuck cares? There's still some great music nowdays like The White Stripes, The Kills or Arctic Monkeys and so one. But it's easier just to be a hipster that thinks "there's no music after 90's".

  • @zuks345 exactly man instead of being dicks why not try and find the hidden gems. Listen to the album Mr Green by Carney. They are incredible very much like the white stripes and led zeppelin. But the album is fantastic trust me.

  • why people are talking about kurt cobain on a jeff buckley´s video? both we´re great, but completely diferent musical approach. GROW!

  • @Contrabando5cordas And who are you? Jeff or Kurt? :-P

  • I think Jeff took good music with him when he died.

  • Absolutely beautiful song. His voice was just as much an instrument as the guitar he played. This isn't just music you hear. It's music you feel.

  • Just mentioning Kurt Cobain and Jeff Buckley in the same comment is a sin.

Cobain couldn't play guitar or sing if his life depended on it.

I do like some of Nirvana's songs, but they are WAY overrated.

  • @H3llb0und over rated???? nirvana brought an entire new genre of music into the world! how can that be considered over rated???

  • @aimienelson

Yes over rated, they didn't bring anything new to the world, MTV did it for them.

Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and others where around before them.

But maybe you're right, I wouldn't mix those great bands with Nirvana in the same genre.

  • @H3llb0und ALICE IN CHAINS KICKS NIRVANA's ASS YEAHHHH way better musicians and songs like rooster or man in the box

  • jeff buckley is like kurt cobain without the hypocritical mainstream bullshit and yeah jeff buckley is ten times better.

  • I met this man two weeks before he died. He was very gracious. And I do recognize how lucky I was.

  • that was sarcasm -.- fuckin idiots

  • Absolutely stunning voice, I have always loved this song and his album Grace, truley amazing talent, never forgotten xx

  • It's not about music and expression anymore. It's about money and buisness- lady gaga.

  • This man is an outwordly creature.

  • This is what real musicians do, Music, the best music, but not only music

  • @EnglandLuver90 God, you're a dick

  • @EnglandLuver90 your a idiot

  • @6819ljj at first i thought the same way you did. but maybe is hard to understand what he wrote. i think he wanted to say "if justin bieber is a good artist, then Jeff buckley's voice sucks"

  • @EnglandLuver90 AHHH SARCASM very good grasshopper.

  • @EnglandLuver90 Eat a fat dick, you fuck

  • wtf!!! who won´ t like this??

  • @TheCzarSantos 6 brainless douchebags

  • impeccable performance ...amazing ..

  • Compare a different band on the same subject matter: watch?v=NOAy2k9bd_A (1st prize to the person who lasts longer than 10 seconds on that song)

  • @gizmochina wow...

  • @gizmochina I just watched that and now I need some more Buckley to cleanse that vile sound from my ears! A little melodramatic but that other song really was terrible!

  • Can all the arguing douchebags jump on the next space shuttle mission and GET OVER THEMSELVES. Just enjoy the music.

  • @metalebd gay comeback, space shuttle is fucken queer.

  • @AlecBott1080 says the one who spelled fucking wrong......queer.

  • @metalebd No more space shuttle missions I'm afraid :P

  • Katy Perry Mentioning him at her concert brought me here! And i'm liking it!

  • i like dildoes :D

  • god just listen to the music ppl, im 15 and love this music. it doesnt matter what generation gave what, and Jeff Buckley gave us Jeff Buckley so just enjoy this music while we can.

  • I don't think technology helps these days, back in the day you had to have REAL talent, you had to be able to play your instrument, or sing properly with feeling and inspiration to sell records or become successful. These days with auto tune and pro tools, any old joe can step up and sing like any other "singer" out there. The only song writers left are writing shit pop hits for the likes of bieber. We need to bring back the real musician! and get some feeling back in this shit!

  • that's the thing about good music... great music in fact... it transcends generations..

  • 0:18 = bad edit.

  • @fizzygillespie My generation gave you Bon Iver, Sharon Van Etten, The Antlers, Wye Oak, Local Natives, Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire, and many more. Your generation gave us a bunch of pretentious assholes, like yourself, who are too lazy to get off their ass and find good music. GO BITCH SOMEWHERE ELSE.

  • @AntlersSVE Nobody said anything about that. I buy 2-3 albums a week. However, once upon a time, the good music was played alongside of the bad music. You could turn on the radio and hear the Pumpkins AND Marky Mark. Once upon a time, there was a place for adults to find good music. You didn't have to "search for it."

  • jeff buckley rules

  • Heys guys if you like this you should also check out Tangent Transmission! I found out about them not too long ago and they're great. They remind me of Jeff Buckley a bit!!

  • goddamn why aren't people who post these fantastic videos of legendary artists smart enough to disable comments so all the lameass headcases can't post their negative comments about musicians that they could only ever hope to be like! there should be a clause here that makes them post their music for all of us to critique! oh yeah that's right most of them don't make music! jerkoffs!

  • Jeff is definitely one of the greatest singers in music, it's a shame that he passed :(

  • GOD bless Jeff.!!!!

  • GOD bless Jeff

  • is that a 12 string guitar???

  • @invictorium No, but I can see why you'd think so, it has such a full sound.

  • @invictorium no.

  • @300daysandnights it is actually.

  • @invictorium whoops your right, i didn't see the doubled keys on the head. Rickenbackers are pretty cool.

  • @300daysandnights yh, i noticed the 12 tuners, 6 tucked at the bottom. nice guitars, but expensive.

  • @invictorium on other ones the strings are all laid out making the head stock longer. pretty good design that Jeff has there.

  • Today we mourn the death of Jeff Buckley, the most amazing song writer of all time. We remember him from his cover of "Hallelujah", his songs "Grace" and "Last Goodbye", and his kindred spirit that touched the hearts of millions of people who recieved his message, including myself. So thank you Mr. Buckley for everything you've done for our world, your touching lyrics and smooth voice will live one forever. RIP

  • God wanted a concert in heaven... Rest in peace Jeff

  • @SimoHudsonBerto lucky angels, unlucky us ... miss him

  • @SimoHudsonBerto well said :-)

  • jeff :( ! i love so much >.<!

  • The slide gitar is amazing

  • If you look very closely, he has angel wings.

  • @Robyourhouse No need to look closely. I can see it, and feel it, with his voice.

  • RICKENBACKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is live!!!

  • i am kind of of the opinion that he killed himself. or rather just let himself drift away from us. in hallelujah the pain in his voice is just soul wrenching and i hope he is in a happier place now

  • Jeff Buckley was probably the most talented musician we will ever know. It makes me die inside to know that I will never hear a new song of him, but in another way it's beautiful that all the songs he made are a legacy to the world. It hurts to know that few people really know his music and acknowledge his talent, but again, it shows that if you know Jeff and love his music, that you know what real music is...

RIP Jeff, we will never forget you

  • I have chill bumps all over. I LOVE HIM. and it is sad that not enough people have heard him.

  • This is from the "Live in Chicago" DVD

  • Memphis has taken some greats, and this is definitely one of them.

the wolf river is my haunting ground though, and did see Jeff before that fateful evening

  • RIP

  • thumbs up if you didn't know about jeff buckley while he was still alive, because you were 2 years old, but now you listen to his music!!

  • @KatoNy96 I was 1 month old lol

  • i hate vevo adds

  • One of my favorite songs of all time. Always gives me chills.

  • YOu would NEVER hear JEFF use a stupid AUTO TUNE - plugin - that's whats wrong with music today.... RIP JEFF !! you were the best !!

  • Art transcends life. Rather than wish he were still with us, appreciate the art while we are still here. That's what any artist would want.

  • @jumpsuitjim true wise words.

  • Just imagine where he would be today... Taken too soon... Eternally in awe of this Man.

  • He looks like Brandon Boyd, but still Jeff Buckley has the most beautiful voice ever...

  • My generation gave you Jeff Buckley. Your generation gave us Justin Bieber. Congratulations. You're idiots.

  • @fizzygillespie 1. Again with the Biber

    2. You are comparing the best with the worst of two generations.

    3. Am sure you are at your early 20s and you are cannibalizing MY generation.

    01/1981

  • @glaukus666 1.It's reasonable to make comparisons. It's an injustice that a no-talent hack is a millionaire and someone with genuine talent died in relative obscurity. Jeff Buckley isn't a household name. Bieber is.

    2. Take my generation's worst (Milli Vanilli). Compare to Justin Bieber. Who wins? As for the best? Compare the years of 1991-1996 to 2005-2010. We're STILL on top.

    3. I'm 35. I was DJ-ing Porno for Pyros and Smashing Pumpkins on college radio when your voice was still changing.

  • @fizzygillespie

Don't point the finger at the generation, point the finger at the generation who brought up the generation..

  • @AidanMusik well put good sir

  • @AidanMusik Or stop pointing fingers and accept that you're to blame for your own life.

  • @fizzygillespie yes blame it on the generation...considering that YOUR generation FATHERED OURS...IDIOT....lol

  • @vipergotchya No, my generation's children are under 12 years old. It was the group ahead of us. The people who thought Bon Jovi was a good idea.

  • @fizzygillespie

my generation will also bring us Michael Slate, myself. ill bring music back, just you wait and see baby

  • @fizzygillespie And your generation gave us boy/girl bands that helped create justin bieber....

  • @jackwilliamnicol Arguably, you could trace that crap back to Elvis and the Beatles. Cynical record executives trying to cash in on the latest craze. It wasn't until the late 60's and early 70's that they realized they could manufacture image rather than wait for talent.

Besides, we could hear NKOTB on the radio and still hear REM and U2 in the same block on the same station. That doesn't happen today.

  • @fizzygillespie Theres crap from your generation too. Stop being so negitive acting like music is dead, you just arent looking hard enough.

  • @fizzygillespie but our generation also has beach house, arcade fire, fruit bats, etc. AND you could say that your generation gave us songs like "I'm a barbie girl." Spread the love.

  • @FingerFramer hahahhaa im a barbie girl! right yu have sense of humor jeff died i was about 8 im 22 just getting addicted to his music now, feels amazing and fresh discoreing a artist like this when i ve been searching and studying music for about 10 years now..

  • @fizzygillespie What an ignorant and unnecessary comment. This generation gave you among other things this chance to share such a comment with the world without even having to prove what's YOUR worth for the rest of us.

  • @fizzygillespie If you are interested it's not in Disney Channel where you will find the talent you are looking for, but it is always there despite time and generations.

BTW I'm from Buckleys generation, this is the first time I listen to his music, and I have fallen for it.

+ I recommend you listen to Jolie Holland, young girl great future, recorded under Tom Waits wing.

  • @vacadeplata1 I first heard Jolie Holland back in 2004 because of the Tom Waits connection. Working at a record store has its perks.

  • @fizzygillespie It's not our fault ToT

  • @fizzygillespie my generation fucking sucks...

  • @fizzygillespie I didn't do shit. We didn't give you Justin Bieber, you didn't give us Jeff Buckley.

Music is music, you like what you like.

  • @fizzygillespie And you're an idiot if you can't look outside the charts and find the incredibily talented artists out there today.

  • @burntsoup Who the hell said anything about the charts? I have close to 2,000 albums at home. I buy well over 100 CDs a year. And none of it is shit you hear on the radio (often).

  • @fizzygillespie Well your refernce was Justin Bieber as if that kind of tosh is all music has to offer these days and it's ridiculous. Jeff Buckley will always be my favourite musician but you can't tell me that within these many albums you've puchased that you've never found modern talent. Also, a lot of it is unsinged.

  • @burntsoup And the point I'm trying to make is this: 20 years ago, you didn't have to "search" for good music. It was there on the radio. It was on 120 Minutes or Alternative Nation. There was college radio. Good music wasn't driven underground. Want some proof? Look at the Billboard charts for 1990 - 1992. Now look at today's charts. Nirvana, REM, U2...they would never have experienced that level of success today. That's my point.

  • @fizzygillespie if you see just him then that's your problem. Because I see at least one Jack White to name a big guy. It's idiotic of you to name a whole generation a bunch of idiots. If you think we have only produced that little twat then i guess you ain't looking much to find talent and the media has successfully convinced you that that boy is all there in today's music. Btw by your standards we are all idiotic monkeys after Beethovens generation.

  • @sweeney665 1. Jack White has been around for well over ten years now. I wouldn't use him as the most current example. 2. As I said to others on this thread, once upon a time, there was an outlet for real music. That outlet no longer exists. 20 years ago, you could hear cutting edge music on the radio. No longer. It all started going downhill in 1998, and we haven't recovered. 3. I'm not a media slave. I've been an avid collector for 20 years now. I know my shit, and I know where to look.

  • @fizzygillespie yeah well the problem is that you deemed a whole generation as "idiots", which is not very kind you know...we do have good stuff, talented young blood but the only problem is that everything is industrialized and you do have a point about the music that played on the radio. it's just dead wrong to call a whole generation idiotic.plus this generation has "just begun" you never know how things turn. Your generation had sellouts like BJ (pun intended) too.

  • @fizzygillespie And you're a faggot hipster, but I don't see anyone complaining.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green: "Hi. My name is spicyMcHAGGIS9green, and I like to say bad words to show the whole internets how tough I am."

  • @fizzygillespie My Dad's generation gave you Janis Joplin, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, MC5, and The Stooges. I guess we're all idiots then. How stupid of you to make a comment like that. Justin Beiber was made by the corporations. You're just a lazy ass. Go fuck yourself.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green: You just made my point for me. You've just admitted that with every subsequent generation, the quality of music diminishes. What's missing from this generation is a sense of struggle. Your dad's had it. Mine had it. This generation doesn't have it. You can't blame it on the corporations. If people didn't buy Ke$ha, the corporations wouldn't manufacture the music.

(see how easy it is to have a discussion without namecalling?)

  • @fizzygillespie No sense of struggle? Lol. Look at bands like The Dandy Warhols, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Buffalo Killers, and Truckfighters. There's plenty struggle there, dumbass. Every generation has had their share of shitty music. That's what you're failing to realize. To call my generation "idiots" is totally fucking asanine and you know it. I'm not an idiot and friends sure as hell aren't idiots. You're the fucking idiot.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green: I should just sit down and let you argue with yourself. Dandy Warhols debuted in 1995. Brian Jonestown Massacre debuted in 1995. Both are bands that my friends and I were listening to in college. "13 Tales from Urban Bohemia" was my favorite album. Of 2000. 12 years ago. You are an idiot because you fail to recognize the chronology. And I'm talking about generational struggle. Fundamental discontent is why the original alternative movement happened.

  • @fizzygillespie Quit being such a fucking elitist and a hipster. I couldn't give less of a fuck what your favorite album was in 2000. YOU ARE A FUCKING LAZY ASS! You are missing my point completely. You are just as bad as someone who listens to Justin Beiber. You fuckin music elitists need to be taken into the woods and shot. You are what's killing music. YOU!! There is good music today. You have to look for it. What fun is music if it's just sitting there in front you?

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green: I don't think you even know what the fuck a hipster is. Don't get pissed at me because you're a moron. If you would look at my countless other comments on this thread, you would see that I'm very good at seeking out obscure music. The Internet is a fabulous resource. Amazon, Pandora, Metacritic, XPN. The point I'm making is this: your generation, overall, isn't listening to it. You're just pissed that I called you out on being a poseur. I saw "Dig!" too.

  • @fizzygillespie Is that my fucking fault that my generation is lazy? No. Does that make me an idiot? No. Fuck off back to your record store, hipster. Go do us all a favor and buy another flannel at Urban Outfitters. Thank you for proving my point.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green: So you just admitted that your generation is lazy. Which is what I said. I didn't start the thread by saying "spicyMcHagiss is an idiot." You're the sensitive twat that took it that way. How the fuck did I prove your point when you didn't have a point in the first place? You said, "my generation has..." and then named two bands from the 90s. And I've never shopped at Urban Outfitters in my life. I'm currently wearing a Social D t-shirt and jeans. And I own zero flannel.

  • @fizzygillespie You typed "You're idiots", not "You're lazy." All of your arguments are now invalid. You might has well have typed my screen name along with that horrible generalization. Also, Social D. sucks. I win. See you hell, douchebag.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green: Semantics, semantics. I don't know why you're arguing with me when we agree on what good music SHOULD be. If you were to meet me IRL and told me you liked the Dandys, I'd say, "Awesome. Check this out." And I'm sorry you think that SD, an influential band with a 30 year career and a solid discography, sucks. If you like the Truckfighters, check out Black Rebel Motorcycle Club if you haven't already done so. Go further back and listen to some Jesus and Mary Chain.

  • @fizzygillespie my generation gave you the Internet, with free music on youtube, joke's on you.

  • @actioncock: Really? Napster was invented by a 5 year old? YouTube was invented by three guys born in 1977, 1978, and 1979. Hint: That's my generation. It's my generation that were the first adopters of the Internet in the mid-90s. They were our chat rooms. They were our emails. They were our emoticons. You just built upon what my friends and I popularized. Joke's on you. Now go play with your Pokemon and let the grown-ups talk.

  • @fizzygillespie first of all, the first Pokemon generation was and actually still is awesome.

and if you want to be a precise cunt, internet was invented in the late 60's so the generation before you, does that make it less relevant that the next generations improved it? nope.

you're either a smart troll, or you're a retarded 35yr old, just scroll the internet, there's plenty of good 'modern' music. and i'm sorry to break it to you, but Vengaboys was from your generation. have a nice day.

  • @actioncock: My Garbage Pail Kids were cooler than your Pokeman.

Don't get all pissy with me because you said, "My generation gave you the Internet," and I pointed out how silly that was to say.

My generation had shit music. But we also made room for the good music. You have to dig for it today. I'm just saying it should be the other way around.

  • @fizzygillespie last thing and then I'll stop bothering you:

you really don't have to dig deep at all, I live in Belgium, just check out the line-up of our festivals like Pukkelpop or Werchter, there's a lot of good new talent in Rock, Hardrock, Punk, Ska, Drum'n'Bass, Dubstep, Electro, .... you just have to know where and how to look

  • @actioncock: I'm a wizard at finding good, obscure music. I have my resources, and luckily we have a kickass radio station in our area (WXPN). My initial post was the result of a feeling of injustice. Jeff Buckley's legacy shouldn't languish in obscurity while no talent hacks like Justin Bieber and Katy Perry become millionaires.

I apologize if you were insulted.

  • @fizzygillespie I'll let Jeff Buckley answer himself, /watch?v=iCU3HXNGaAw

and last thing, you can't expect a 11yr old to like Jazz or Mozart, people evolve, if they don't, well then it's their own loss, let's just keep our mouths shut and listen to good music while we're alive.

  • @fizzygillespie There's tonnes of good music these days matey - it just doesn't get air time.

  • I'm just thinking about how HUGE Jeff Buckley would have been if he had not been taken by that mean mean river!!

  • god damnit what the fuck, this won't play past 2:32 even though it has completed downloading?! FUCK YOU VEVO!

  • @seeingeyegod just clik a little past that part, it'll redownload from there and play.

  • this guy died two years after I was born....I feel jipped.

  • i just clicked on this video, then opened a different tab to check my email. when I came back here, I could not believe that this was a live video!!! I thought it was the studio version.

god his voice is extraordinary, and so pure.

  • This. is. the SHIT! There not enough videos of Jeff, and this was amazing...imagine if he were still around...what else he had to share with the world..
