  • Intense! must have been like our Skyrim

  • never played arena, i started out my adventures in daggerfall.....but god damnit.....im gonna try and find a copy of this....break out my old ass, dusty computer and play till my eyes bleed...becuse this game here was the begining of a legacy game series!

  • This versus Skyrim.....

  • I rather get the fucking jewel.

  • grafics got much better

  • Too old

  • You used to fight Jagar Tharn, then you got killed by a lich.

  • I love Minecraft!

  • WHO'S PLAYING WITH THOSE DAMN COCONUTS!!!

  • Looks like Gene Simmons

  • looks a lot harder than alduin

  • epic battle

  • Meelee combat gets better and better with each game.

  • And we thought zelda had an old begining.......

  • this boss fight had great suspense........ :O

  • Its the most epic boss fight in the world :O

  • Big classic game!!

  • Combat hasn't improved much since then

  • "I've got those moves like Jagar, those moves like Jagar, those mooooOOOoooves like Jagar..."

    -Adam Levine

  • daggerfall is actually the largest game to date. morrowing is .1 of its size. and daggerfall has like 15,000 villagers and a couple thousand villages. Look it up on wikipedia

  • @FireSlayer1167 Daggerfall may have had more in it but Arena actually encompassed a far larger area than Daggerfall did... Consider that Arena encompassed the entire empire of Tamriel and Daggerfall only has the provinces of High Rock and Hammerfell...

  • @shadowphoenix84 Doesn't that mean you can go to skyrim? :O

  • @iWolfieBoyFTW Yes you can go to Skyrim in it along with any other Tamrielic province, which at the time still included Black Marsh, Morrowind, Hammerfell, High Rock, Summerset Isle, Valenwood and a few others... A few of these no longer exist during the time of Skyrim because they have left the Empire...

  • These old ones are still so good! This is how the Elder Scrolls started and all true fans should have played and beaten the main quests from the 5 games in the main storyline- Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim! Hardcore fans will be sure not to miss Battlespire, Redguard and the Elder Scrolls Travels cell phone games!

  • The fade distance is less than that of 6in or in the games scale 2 feet

  • Wow in ten years we went from that to skyrim what will happen in ten more? I'm truly amazed

  • @igor112az 18 actually :)

  • wtf is wrong with Bethesda why didn't they use this soundtrack in Skyrim, this shit is dope!!

  • its amazing to see how mutch elder scrolls has changed

  • Although you have to admit DOOM's graphics were superior. And a year earlier.

  • To anyone who thinks Arena's beginning is too difficult, try Daggerfall's.

  • Hmm i don't think my pc is able to run this awesome game.

  • THAT BATTLE WAS FUCKING EXTREME!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i writted skyrim last boss to get here

  • @Ms7heft i writted skyrim final boss to get here and i expedted elder scrolls IV

  • @Ms7heft i typed*

  • @Ms7heft Same shit! XD

  • @Ms7heft Wow, you must be like 4 lol

  • Jagar Tharn, i don't have Arena but I read about him in the books in Oblivion

  • FUCK SKYRIM. I'm getting this.

  • *Skyrim ;)

  • How far we've come...

  • This is such a call of duty rip off

  • Looks like medival minecraft......

  • and people thought these graphics were amazing back when this first came out. eventually people will look at games like BF3 and Skyrim and say "wow, those graphics are complete shit."

  • @dareapa1 Probably in two years.

  • @dareapa1 who needs good graphics when u have great gameplay.

  • @dareapa1 Remember back in the day, we would clear up 200mb to play, then configure our sound blasters and 4mb ram, and BAM. First dungeon, a lvl 18 skeleton rapes me!

  • @dareapa1 I don't think these graphics are shit at all...if anything, Skyrims graphics are kind of a dissapointment.

  • @dareapa1 Well, in 1994 a game where one can be whatever the fuck he wants and is in First Person shooting magic and holding a sword.. I'd say.. I'd cheer, even now.

  • @dareapa1 if graphics get any better it becomes too real and I personally don't wanna kill "real" people.

  • @dareapa1 Then! when they look at this game they will be like WTF IS THIS SHIT?!?!

  • @dareapa1 better than minecraft at least -_-

  • @dareapa1

I don't think so. I mean, since you could look at a Skyrim environment, compare it to the view in your window and say that the Skyrim environment looks better, I don't think that graphics are going to get any better, however, the content of video games probably will get better.

  • @InfinitiveGD Graphics can still get way better.

  • @dareapa1

No dumbass, people in the past didn't care for graphics much. Its all about gameplay.

Now it seems everyone is obsessed about graphics.

  • @dareapa1

That's not really how it works. Back then do you honestly think we felt a game like this was realistic? Realism wasn't a concern then, gameplay and the amount of fun was. Also, there's a cap on how graphically realistic you can make a video game, I don't think Skyrim will ever be considered "shit."

  • @dareapa1 We're getting close to a point where graphics can't be improved anymore, sure you can always reduce the number of polygons and increase texture map size and add post-processing but the result wont be visually that huge difference from where we are now compared to games in the early 90s and what they were a decade later.

  • @dareapa1 I'm looking at them now and saying that lol.

  • @dareapa1 Already starting to feel that way about oblivion. Amazing at the time, now looking cartoonish compared to skyrim.

  • @dareapa1 what else is left but to be inside the the games we play any more deatail and graphics and will end up creating an alternet world with the games that we can go to thru a portal

  • @dareapa1 Looks like minecraft

  • @Bevi18BigGirlBigTub *facepalm*

  • @dareapa1 Because these people are too idiotic to realise that.

  • y jagar tharn mage he theif :(

  • @EvinG1998 If 1994 is 'like' 2000, then you're right.

  • JZgames...ur a fucking dumbass -_- nuff said

  • mw3s graphics so pwn this. its not even close.

  • @JZgames uh this game came out in like 2000.

  • @EvinG1998 trollolololol

  • @Anathar88 Yes it is. Setting your character running from one end to the other takes two real-time weeks. I believe it has the most landmass of any game to date.

  • morre diabo!

  • its cool how the elder scrolls has grown from arena to the realistic graphics of skyrim

  • Compare this to skyrim.....

  • The Elder Scrolls: Pokemon

  • So...240p.... we meet again.

  • @Iruga1234554321 That comment... we meet again.

  • 1. Find video of old psuedo-3d game.

    2. Post comment saying it looks like minecraft.

    3. ????

    4. PROFIT!

  • Swimming in lava...... whaa??

  • Hey look it's Minecraft :D lol

  • @tonyharrison4 You mean Minecraft looks like Arena.

  • @Sporevideomaker yeah I loved arena when i played it though now it's all pixely and I sure as hell don't remember it looking like that

  • @Sporevideomaker HAHA OH WOW WHAT A RETARD

  • @ninjerch Who me? Because when I see those comments on every video on games from a while ago it gets old.

  • @Sporevideomaker Lol don't try that. You failed miserably, lol.

  • @ninjerch Ugh... *facepalm*

  • looks neat, but jagar tharn is such a pussy, he is seeing that he's going down and uses an invincible force field? puhlease... in any other game i would push him into the lava and see if his lil force field can survive that

  • Skyrim helmet 3:23

  • Looks like a game that I can download via application onto my Blackberry touchscreen lol...

  • Was this created in Minecraft?

  • @BendikBS obviously not it was devolped in 1993 and released in 1994.

  • @JordoF6 It was sarcasm.

  • @Rodmusset In 1994 ;-)

  • @Rodmusset dude minecraft graphics are WAY better, + you can download textures packs that makes the graphics even better!

  • @MovieClipsFree no one gives a fuck about minecraft... this game alone is a hundred times more entertaining than that game and Yes i play minecraft.

  • @TheRaellz I like minecraft, its pretty fun. But sometimes it gets boring. Like the first time you play it and like 2 - 4 weeks when you just started are fun, but the rest is... Meh. But i play it sometimes.

  • Yeah SKYRIM 1952 Version :D

  • For its time this was like Skyrim to us today.

  • @DirgeWithin

Imagine what gaming will be like in another 15 years? Virtual reality machines?

  • at 1:25 i readed suckass XS

  • are there any guild in arena? liek fighters guild, or mages guild

  • @MrMoorasPowrocil Nope. There are no guilds in Arena, whereas in Daggerfall, you're able to join several guilds such as the Dark Brotherhood for example ;)

  • @SeagreenSerenades

oh sad... i am true fan of TES, but from what i seen on UESP there are barrely side quests / random quests and no guild :(....so ill stick with daggerfa;; and eventually with skyrim later :D

  • @Matak12 That's one of the most stupidest things I have ever read, you do know the game is 17 years old right? Have more respect for the game that started the series without it there would be no Skyrim

  • OMG! i didn't know MW3 was a RPG!!

  • nice ending : you became a undead servant of jagar tharn :O

  • I killed mankar cameron in oblivion in one hit.

  • Man, this guy looks REALLY tough, a real bitch to kill... they dont make bosses like this anymore, that's for certain.

  • DAT STAFF BLOCKING

  • this is terrible lol, ill just wait for skyrim.

  • @Matak12 the game is 17 years old, older than u kid

  • @pierreo33 um nope my profile shows im 20 lol nearly but not quite :)

  • its like minecraft lol

  • @jugs554433 No, minecraft is like this.

  • @superqeboo .........................

  • @jugs554433 :D

  • @superqeboo haha :P

  • WHY_WONT_YOU_DIEEEEEE!

  • It would be cool if they made remakes of Arena and Daggerfall. I would sure as hell play them.

  • @Anathar88 remaking Daggerfall is almost impossible (for now), since the game map is literally the size of England. To put it in scale Morrowind`s map is about 0.01% the size of Daggerfall`s map.

  • @sevyyves937 That's impossible. The game only takes place in some places of High Rock and Hammerfell. I've actually seen the map. It's not that big. The only things that would make this game hard to make are the forty-four citystates that existed BEFORE the Warp in the West, and then scratch off forty of them AFTER the Warp.

  • @Anathar88 Are you serious or just trolling ? Have you played Daggerfall ? The Map you are looking at is probably the map for Tamriel which ,by the way, is NOT IN SCALE based on the size of each game. The game map for Oblivion (which is Cyrodiil) is smaller than Morrowind`s game map, but if you compare the two using Tamriel`s map Cyrodill is larger than Morrowind. Daggerfall has the LARGEST GAME MAP OF ALL ELDER SCROLLS GAMES. That is a FACT.

  • @sevyyves937 First of all, I'm not trolling. Secondly, no, I've not played Daggerfall. Thirdly, calm down. I didn't look on a Tamriel map, I looked at JUST the map for the game. Forgive me of being ignorant to a game I've never played.

But whatever, it still would be cool if Bethesda made remakes of Arena and Daggerfall (impossible or not)

  • @sevyyves937 Oblivion is not smaller then morrowind >.< The actual game size of Oblivion is larger. Morrowind just gives the impression of being larger.

Agreed that Daggerfall is by far the largest.

Daggerfall is probably the only game that would fulfill the lore requirements in terms of size. In that regard I always think of Morrowind/Oblivion and Skyrim as condensed to the more vital parts needed.

  • @Hrothga Umm, Arena was over 6 Mil square miles.

  • @Drumboy168 6 mil square miles sounds....well a bit extreme. I suppose since most was randomly generated it's a possibility. Arena is the only game I haven't been able to find a number on. Daggerfall is supposedly half or twice the size of GB, depending on the source. The only thing regarding Arena's size I've found is that even Bethesda wasn't able to come up with the mileage of it. However if you have, I'd be interested to read about it since my googling has been unable to come up with it

  • @Hrothga Yeah, 6 mil miles, while it does seem extreme, is actually seems quite realistic, as Arena featured all of Tamriel. I think its funny how you could actually go to Skyrim before Elder Scrolls 5.

  • @Anathar88 Dude, Daggerfall had 188,031 square miles of playable area. Bearing in mind Just Cause 2 has just 400 square miles, imagine the amount of work that would have to go into creating a current gen version of Daggerfall.

  • @aaddaammize Yea, yea. I know the whole bit. Some other person told me the same shit and was literally YELLING at me that it wouldn't happen. But I'll tell you like I told him:

"It still would be cool if Bethesda made remakes of Arena and Daggerfall (impossible or not)"

    A man can dream....

  • @aaddaammize Omg 188,031???!? are you sure. why can't we have atleast 5,000 now?

  • @EvinG1998 I'm sure, look it up ;)

Not sure why we can't. I'm no expert on how games are made, but maybe it's just too difficult to create worlds that big with the amount of detail in graphics nowadays? dunnno

  • @aaddaammize Well, I was thinking that since daggerfall is also 8-bit they could add more area, but i mean come on. We have amazing technnology. D:

  • @aaddaammize It could be done, but it would just be the same as Daggerfall, the same resources/environments copy/pasted 50 million times. Oblivion/Skyrim are mostly empty as it is, with a map as big as Daggerfall, walking from place to place just isn't an option. Think Oblivion, but the next town is 50 km away. Walking point A to B would take several hours, but the area between A and B is entirely empty except the same tree model/bush every few meters. You 1.)Fast travel or 2.)Shrink the gap.

  • @Anathar88 daggerfall's size is twice great britain, its the biggest game world to date

  • minecraft graphics =D

  • @TheSmartestTaco He was the first and only one to escape the emperial prison in cyrodiil and most tes games mention him

  • The ending didn't make sense. How were you supposed to beat him whilehe has that shield on?

  • this video is a lie, ARENA IS UNBEATABLE

  • INTENSE!

  • Sword: ting. ting. ting. ting. ting. ting. ting. *whoosh*. ting. ting. ting.

  • bah i am so not looking forward to this. yet i only need one more piece of the staff of chaos -__-

  • Jagar Tharn? That rings a few bells for me. If I'm correct Jagar Tharn is a rebel name on Star Wars Battlefront, and he appears in later elder scrolls games to, right?

  • Update the graphics a bit and release as a 400 point cost on Live

  • @TytheBandit How about fuck off?

  • @SSDB93 how about with your sis or mom and we got a deal?

  • @TytheBandit They're dead, have fun.

  • @SSDB93 cry me a river probly saying he shold have some manners and mind his mouth even if its youtube you let them down

  • @SSDB93 What the fuck is your problem douchebag?

  • @Filbertfriend Fags who think this masterpiece needs it's graphics updating.

  • @SSDB93 Who cares. Updated graphics would be awesome.

  • @Filbertfriend How exactly?

Since when do graphics better a game?

CoD Boasts realistic visuals and look at that, it's a pile of shit.

  • @SSDB93 Graphics almost always make the gaming experience better. I'd rather have gameplay over graphics, but if it can be done, why not? You wouldn't want to see this game remastered with high end graphics, but keeping the same gameplay?

  • Combat looks better than Morrowind

  • At least the graphics are better than runescape's... :L

  • @BeevazGaming Arena came out long before runescape ever exist

  • Arena certainly would be fun when those graphics were the shit, its probably a great game, but its hard to play something like Morrowind and Oblivion or even Daggerfall then play arena.

  • @DrProfSlugger "but its hard to play something like Morrowind and Oblivion or even Daggerfall then play arena."

People with taste will tell you it's even harden to play arena, then play Oblivion (and probably Skyrim too).

  • @tubegeranium No no I meant that Arena is probably great, but after playing modern games its hard to go back to old dos box games.

Don't get me wrong, I played it and love it when I was little, I had my memory jogged watching another video of the beginning,

  • this looks soo much fun

  • graphics r so bad

  • it looks slightly worse that minecraft...

  • @Myself Oh yep, he's mentioned at the beginning, silly me.

  • Isn't he in Oblivion?

  • he looks like one of the members of the black hand from oblivion but in 8-bit form LOL

  • looks like minecraft xD

  • The walls look like minecraft cobblestone

  • what are the spinoff games?

  • @nairad100 redguard and battlespire

  • Dude, I barely beat this game. I had a level 17 Argonian healer. I couldn't handle the hordes of liches, so I used a Ring of Passwall I found to cut my way around to the chamber then flew and used Passwall open the place that had the key. I saved, then, when I got close to the Jewel, Tharn killed. He did it over and over again. I called the police, but they just gave me a fine and told me not to call again.

  • clink clink clink x20000

  • Looks like Doom: Medevil Version

  • @iiRageYou No it doesn't. Doom: Medieval Version was sold under the name "Heretic".

  • Guys this game came out in 1994 it was a good game then, yea but if you think about compared to skyrim its kinda shit :)

  • it looks like a DS game or something! ...Or should be a DS game. I want to play all the elder scrolls games before skyrim comes out :D. Not playing the spin-off games though...

  • @DestinyOfTheSword The spinoffs are extremely good games. Redguard provides more lore info than Arena and Daggerfall combined. Stop wasting your time watching YouTube videos and play them. Stop being lazy.

  • @XellKhaar Well, i have been away on holidays with someone elses laptop so thats why i am on youtube. Think before you insult be by calling me "lazy" because i have had enougth of this insult shit.

  • @XellKhaar

I agree, he needs to stop being lazy and get off his fat ass and then sit back down and play all the elder scroll games in a row.

  • @XellKhaar What about Battlespire?

  • @faker11111 Battlespire provides almost no lore info at all. The only interesting part is seeing Jagar Tharn's agent inside Oblivion waiting to talk to Mehrunes Dagon. It's also a really difficult game to get through (difficult as in tedious as hell because the framerate is so bad, but also genuinely difficult if you don't pick the perfect settings at character creation). And when you beat it you'll be angry at the game for a horrible anticlimactic ending that lasts
