I love looking at all these comments from guys from other services, and get nice chuckles.. For the guys from the Navy/Marine corps (navy break-off) who talk crap, when your service was disbanded, the Coast Guard was still around protecting the homeland.. And any member of the USMC who thinks the USCG was never at the battlefield doing work, just look up "Douglas Munro" ... Nice piece of history.. You guys claiming that a usmc could stand to BMC Rucsher?? You obviously don't realize why the USC
I still don't understand why the Coast Guard isn't considered military. Sure, they don't deploy. But they're still in the same fight as us (I'm Air Force). We all took the same oath didn't we?
BMC Rucsher, the Company Commander in the video, he may seems like a control freak and hard ass in the video but he's easily the funniest and greatest guy there. I think he's retiring sometimes this or next year.
@SuramarDilbert If this E-7 is that BMC Ruscher you speak of , I'm not impressed whatsoever. I couldn't have followed anyone of the likes of him through my career in the CG. I agree that discipline is needed but one doesn't have to treat subordinates like $hit to get your point across.
@pistolpete1911a1 You obivously haven't been in very long or have his mentality. I spent 18 of my 20 in the CG. Never once did I have to put up with a A Hole like Ruscher.
@20031200 I just came back from Afghanistan as a contractor and saw first hand what happens to troops who arent trained like this ol geezer. They are just a bunch of no loads for the most part and its usually a few well seasoned troops and some young guys who were just naturally born squared away that end up carrying the load for the rest. So, I'll just go ahead and stand by what I say.
USGC saves an average of 5,500 people a year. And has been combat in virtually every conflict fought by the United States since 1790. During WWII. the u.s coast guard, captured two boats, and destroyed 13.
First I want to say that USCG bootcamp looks way tougher now than when I went through in 1989. I'm impressed and a bit afraid of these company commanders in these videos. Serious it wasn't this tough in my day. Now to all the haters, yes Coasties may not parachute into Iraq but trust me you can still get shot at and wait until you search a little boat and some crazy Hatian refugee jumps out of nowhere with a machette after you!!
I love when a group of schmucks who have never worn a uniform argue back and forth about which branch is better, which branch sucks etc... every branch plays it's part and every branch has their elite forces, bottom line is ee all salute the same flag
wellllll ???? the DI has that intencity but it still does not compare to Marine bootcamp. I only saw one DI idk if theres more to a platoon. I remmeber when i was in boot every day we had about 3 to 6 DI's just fcking with us for 3 months. Even after we finish the crusible. This USCG DI looks locked on but im sure not all are like him. Who ever had him as a DI should feel very lucky
@SunriseHealthFoods, coast guard isn't just aviation nor just a life saving service, its been a sea going service since 1790, we have many missions, a lot of them are oblique and behind the scenes, from our buoy tenders to our 210s in the carribean chasing go fasts
@fightinirish1112 He wasnt my section commander but he was around our company more than our section commander. he was awesome. he kind of treated us like humans.
Marine Corps is Physically the hardest boot camp.... but the mental factor of Coast Guard surpasses every branch totally..... i leave for CG basic next spring and im so excitied. ME rate all day, yuhhh!
@bignigga60 I totally have to disagree with you, I am a prior Marine myself and I was part of a interservice training evaluation and to make the story super short and to explain it in a very simply way; the Marine Corps overall grade and remarks were that the the Marines boot camp is without a doubt the toughest in both physical and mental categories
There were ex-Marines in boot camp with me. They said that it's physically tougher in Marine boot camp but that Coast Guard boot camp was harder in all other aspects.
I am a Navy vet. We didn't get as much screaming in our boot camp. I have heard that the Coast Guard boot camp is the second hardest after the Marine Corps.
@guyfihi Lol donno maybe u were in an integrated div with females? Because they have it much easier than an all male division. I went through rtc 4 years ago and it was absolute hell compared to these videos. We went through ''ice cream partes'' ''pizza parties'' ''making it rain''. Only navy people will know what those things are ;] We didnt get to sleep on the first night like coasties do either. And averaged about 3-4 hrs of sleep per night after the first 3 days of no sleep
@guyfihi Not only that but we were basically beaten every waking minute of the day when multiple rdc's screaming at us the entire time. We got woken up by metal trashcans being thrown in the center of the compartment, sounded like grenades going off. Crazy fucking experience. Thing is though, i joined with my best friend and he was in another div that was mixed with females and they got beat a total of 3 times lol
@guyfihi So he had it much much easier. theres a reason why we won captains cup! I'll never forget what my rdc said at the beginning of boot, ''this is gonna be a strong division''. Boy was he right. And in terms of difficulty, I think army boot camp at fort beginning (where infantry goes) is 2nd hardest behind marine corps, 3rd being the navy, 4th being coast guard, 5th being chair force!
Friend, the military is a 24/7 job so asking about the pay is perfectly respectful. You can google the 2011 pay chart. E-1's (bottom of the totem pole) make around $20,000 annually.
I want to serve my country, and make my parents proud, but i don't want to go to Iraq. Mostly because my grandma is 95, years old and the stress could literally kill her. So the Coast Guard would be perfect for me.
@romka4567 It all depends on what you do, my dads a chief and im not dure how much he makes a month maybe around 4100. But the more years you are in your pay rate changes also.
I was never in the service ,but i have to ask whats the deal with all the screaming? i mean really is there a need for it? I don't suppose there might be a way to get the point without all the Hollering. I think all branches do it... perhaps there is a science that i am missing out on?
@gogglesux to keep you discipline..to make you stressed out and work at the same time, and to see how well you respond under pressure..you have to stay calm and work, just like in the field,it will be stressful but you have to work through it
Hello, thanks for the reply.. I never thought of it that way before. It does seem like it would teach you to work better under pressure. I hope it works out for the recruits.
@gogglesux It's a good way to instill discipline. If you plan on pursuing a career in the military you need to develop an instant fear and respect for authority or you will not last very long, and it's not a bad idea to start drilling that home into you the minute you get off the bus. The loudest and most intimidating non-commissioned officers in each branch don't end up serving as drill instructors by accident. It's all very effective theater.
"This recruits mother is dead sir, this recruits mother's dead sir"
"Well boo fuckin hoo recruit. My daddy dropped me off at boot camp and died in a car crash on the way home. I dont wanna hear your sobbing fucking story so get the fuck back in line and do your fucking shit!" - USMC MCRD San Diego
@Eversman1 SOunds to me like Bullshit!!!! ANd by looking at your profile and seeing the videos you like, you are a fucking idiot who plays minecraft and WOW, grow some balls and then talk, If you are REALLY a Marine, you will not talk like that, no matter how tough marines are, they are not ASSHOLES without feelings, thats what they try to project, but in reality they are NOT. You will not talk about your dad publicly if that was true..... SEMPER PARATUS!
@Eversman1 DI's don't have to be pricks though. I wouldn't take to that treatment very well. It's no wonder why I don't have much respect for Most Marines.
@Eversman1 you wanna know what is pathetic? Army Basic Training. I went in 2007 and it was a joke. No screaming, no in your face. Just a bunch of classes and drills that never came together. It was a joke.
I am a proud former coast guard officer, petty officer and boot camp survivor. It was 12 weeks when I started. Then advanced training for petty officer leadership and then a number of weeks at OCS upon acceptance. We did it all, port security, drug interdition, dangerous cargo inspection, supervision of ordinance loading and off loading, etc. At the time we thought that we had the seond hardest boot camp next to the marines. If you go in the USCG, do it right and be proud your service.
That guy was my company commander. He was tough as nails, but he told a lot of jokes too. He was actually really funny, but you didn't want to be on his bad side.
@11bangbangable we are the only branch with a peace time mission and we have loads of resposibility rite out of boot. id say when you are called to go out in a storm and save an entire crew of a sinking vessle you need to know how to react under stress. we also do law enforcement boardings dealing with armed high level drug runners and i hope you have an idea how stressful that is. 19 yr old kids drive multi mill $ boats. get informed. we have the second hardest boot camp right under the marines
@AF2oo7 Ooook go ahead and believe that. Cell phone usage? Just because you get to use it doesn't mean the training is easier. You just have the privilege.
I got a cross tattoo in the finger is less than 1/4 inch width but is kinda long down 1/8 will i qualify and i got a tattoo on the forearm but doesnt reach the wrist bone like by 2 inches will i quaify?
Damn Coast Guard Company Commanders are as motivating as Marine DI's.
Dont insult the Coast Guard, coming from a Marine the Coast Guard was my second choice. Coast Guard boot camp to me outranks Air Force, Navy and definitely Army boot camp. Semper Fi, cant say Semper Paratus because I havent earned it!!!
the english coast guard uses respect and an intensive education to ensure the trainees are safe and perform well, what good does it do shouting at people?
@marcolias1989 The whole idea is to get you to react as part of a team, even when the pressure is on. In about 10 minutes, anyone with half a brain can figure out that it's a role playing exercise, and not to take it personally.
In fact, after a while, you learn to pace yourself, relax, and develop the self confidence you need to do your job under often trying circumstances- and maybe even come to thank that loud mouthed SOB of an NCO for teaching you to overcome what you thought you couldn't.
guys they coast guard gave a few branch transfers waivers many years ago to let them try out for BUD/s. i think only "1!" guy actually made it through. they dont do that stuff anymore though. now if you want to be a SEAL you have to actually be in the navy they dont do the transfers and requests for BUD/s indoc anymore. you have to transfer and go through navy basic first and actually be in the navy. you will not be able to find a coast guard SEAL team operator anymore.
@11bangbangable the navy gave a wiaver to like 1 or 2 guys way back when to try out for BUD/s and only 1 actually graduated and eventually made it to team. so ya have fun trying to find one now though haha. they dont give waivers for branch to branch transfers for BUD/s
did i say the DOGs or LEDETS were SEALS...no. are SEALS completely different than DOGs....yes. do i need to draw you a little stick figure map for you to get what im saying or are you that dull? i sure as hell hope you're not in the military, you really do miss a lot of pieces of information. why are you on here anyways? i bet you wanted to join but scored too low on the ASVAB test. everyone knows what army is good for....clearing those IEDS.. good job
@hero1167 why would the army only be good for clearing IEDs? time to brush up on military history a little i guess. army has done more then the coast guard could ever dream of doing. yes they are important, but they are not even on the same level as even the air force. they had 1 or 2 SEAL operators in the past 20years and they dont even do that waiver transfer program anymore. so you wont find a coast guard SEAL team member anymore. ONLY way to be a SEAL is to be in the NAVY now.
"anything you know im sure i know"....WOW. just wow. keep talking, the more you do it the more i realize how much of an idiot you really are. all you have to do is look it into it and you'll find that im right. the Coast guard does have legitimate navy seals operating in a seal team, just like they have LEDET, and other DOG units working with navy expeditionary groups, performing boardings and such. its not a dream, its reality. and the reality is, you're the misinformed one
your're a joke. you dont know shit cause obviously you dont understand that if any of these "puddle pirates" want to be down range of rounds, they will be. unlike other branches, if you want to see action they will send you to where it is, and by god, there will be action
i got a funny story, so when that cc came into our quarters ( not our cc) and he singled a ship mate out and the CC said what the fuck are u doing. my ship mate answered I am star struck sir. we laughed our asses off about that after lights out.
This is a great video !! It has been 40 years since I went through boot camp (Army during Viet Nam) but I see that the Drill Instructor's are still very hard core professionals !! I am so proud of you all, and grateful for your service. Thankyou for keeping my family and I safe. You are partoling the front lines while we sleep in our beds.
Blink0499 you degenerate scum bag drop to the deck and give me 50! Weed is for loser pieces of shit. Step up to the plate and serve your country not the drug dealer down the street.
@mountainstandardtime I know doctors, businessmen, and numerous amounts of sucessfull people all over who blaze, you are an arrogant peice of shit. Serving your country has nothing to do with being a loser.
@mountainstandardtime marijuana isnt a drug . a drug is when you mix dangerous chemicals together. marijuana is a safe and natural way to feel good. and it helped me when i was very sick and couldnt eat anything, so marijuana saved my life basically and im enlisting in a few weeks. the governments war on drugs is a fake by the way.
@grimofhell yeah me too dude. Im going into the coast guard myself. When the instructors yell like that it motivates me it looks like fun dude lol. I know bootcamps gonna suck ass though ;P Good luck if you go in!
@SpikeyNorman38 I would probably laugh if they yelled in my face. I'm going into the army and I heard they yell in your face for no reason and it's hard not to laugh because they make themselves look like idiots.
I'm just a poolee for the Marines. Gunnery Sergeant Rush made us do IT's for 30 minutes because we couldn't get 3 questions right. The funny part is he was going easy on us. Good luck to ANYONE who joins the service.
@thecoastguardchannel I knew the trainging was challenging but I thought only the Marines made their recruits sound of but the Coast Guard does also. I Have New Respect for the Coast Guard....

@AF2oo7 Ooook go ahead and believe that. Cell phone usage? Just because you get to use it doesn't mean the training is easier. You just have the privilege.

You'll be too scared to laugh...seriously. Those CG Company Commanders are intense.
Lani012 1 year ago
the english coast guard uses respect and an intensive education to ensure the trainees are safe and perform well, what good does it do shouting at people?
marcolias1989 1 year ago
@marcolias1989 its so they can break you down so they can build you back up
btodalew9890 1 year ago
@marcolias1989 The whole idea is to get you to react as part of a team, even when the pressure is on. In about 10 minutes, anyone with half a brain can figure out that it's a role playing exercise, and not to take it personally.
In fact, after a while, you learn to pace yourself, relax, and develop the self confidence you need to do your job under often trying circumstances- and maybe even come to thank that loud mouthed SOB of an NCO for teaching you to overcome what you thought you couldn't.
BenAliGtor 1 year ago
guys they coast guard gave a few branch transfers waivers many years ago to let them try out for BUD/s. i think only "1!" guy actually made it through. they dont do that stuff anymore though. now if you want to be a SEAL you have to actually be in the navy they dont do the transfers and requests for BUD/s indoc anymore. you have to transfer and go through navy basic first and actually be in the navy. you will not be able to find a coast guard SEAL team operator anymore.
0587dave 1 year ago
@0587dave they brought that program back and they just had a CG officer make it thru BUD/s
vahardcorekid 1 year ago
@11bangbangable the navy gave a wiaver to like 1 or 2 guys way back when to try out for BUD/s and only 1 actually graduated and eventually made it to team. so ya have fun trying to find one now though haha. they dont give waivers for branch to branch transfers for BUD/s
0587dave 1 year ago
@11bangbangable
did i say the DOGs or LEDETS were SEALS...no. are SEALS completely different than DOGs....yes. do i need to draw you a little stick figure map for you to get what im saying or are you that dull? i sure as hell hope you're not in the military, you really do miss a lot of pieces of information. why are you on here anyways? i bet you wanted to join but scored too low on the ASVAB test. everyone knows what army is good for....clearing those IEDS.. good job
hero1167 1 year ago
@hero1167 why would the army only be good for clearing IEDs? time to brush up on military history a little i guess. army has done more then the coast guard could ever dream of doing. yes they are important, but they are not even on the same level as even the air force. they had 1 or 2 SEAL operators in the past 20years and they dont even do that waiver transfer program anymore. so you wont find a coast guard SEAL team member anymore. ONLY way to be a SEAL is to be in the NAVY now.
0587dave 1 year ago
@11bangbangable
"anything you know im sure i know"....WOW. just wow. keep talking, the more you do it the more i realize how much of an idiot you really are. all you have to do is look it into it and you'll find that im right. the Coast guard does have legitimate navy seals operating in a seal team, just like they have LEDET, and other DOG units working with navy expeditionary groups, performing boardings and such. its not a dream, its reality. and the reality is, you're the misinformed one
hero1167 1 year ago
@11bangbangable
exactly...you talk shit about a branch that you dont even know anything about...thanks for proving my point. learn your shit in the future dumbass
hero1167 1 year ago
@11bangbangable
say that to a coast guard navy seal
hero1167 1 year ago
@11bangbangable
your're a joke. you dont know shit cause obviously you dont understand that if any of these "puddle pirates" want to be down range of rounds, they will be. unlike other branches, if you want to see action they will send you to where it is, and by god, there will be action
hero1167 1 year ago
@hero1167 Those Puddle Pirates are the only Military Service that can go weapons free on a 3rd class petty officer's order
