I am american visit morocco BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY I LOVE MARRAKECH I REALLY LIKE RABAT AND TANGER BUT CASABLANCA HORRIBLE UGLY CITY FULL OF RUDE PEOPLE HIGH CRIME HORRIBLE POLLUTION HORRIBLE TRAFFIC do yourself a favor when u go visit morocco SKIP CASABLANCA fuck that city go to beautiful marrakech or agadir or even fez
Since I am Catalan my question to Arabiansoultan was ironical. Nevertheless I wonder why today authorities have not modified the name in the same way that Fernando Póo now is Malabo (Equatorial Guinea).
Moroccans use both of the names, "Casa" or "Dar el Beïda", it is no problem for them. The oldest name, as far as I know, is ANFA. These days, this part of Dar el Beïda is what we call "the old medina", the mellah included.
To Mister albert19441 : Even if the name "Casablanca" has a spanish connotation, the city was colonized by France and not Spain, spain had colonized south Morrocco, and north, France the middle including Casablanca, which first name is "Anfa" and not "Casablanca". That's why Mr Arabiansultan said "Maroc à la française" It is true that many of the Contemporary monuments of the city were built by france, and after the independance morrocco continued with the modernisation of the architechture ^^
@RainFireView Once again I say that as a Catalan I do not care if Casablanca is French or anything else and I just bring the contradictory name of the city, not the History. Please note that Morrocco does not exist, the name of the country is Morocco and this is History, Geography, Politics and people.
Casablanca. What a shithole. God bless the USA.

Albert, the language of the word Casablanca, is Spanish; the name of the city in Arabic, is Dar el Beida. Dar = house; Bjad or Beida = white. :) :)
