In the past when the population was 50% malays and 50% non-malays; the non-malays were able to contribute economically to the other 50% of malay parasites (birth right to aid from government). The population is now tipping toward 70% malays and 30% non-malays, it wont be long before the situation results in a spiral of recession.

That idiot lawyer argues that Islam existed in Malaysia even before the British law came. What about the fact that even before Islam came to Malaysia, the country was entirely Hindu! The entire southeast Asia was Hindu and had strong political and economic links with India. i 'm just wondering. If the ustad claims that if everyone has the freedom, then malaysia is finished? Why? we don't have any rules on other religions and yet we can still see thousands of malaysian practising their own belief. So why must Islam be any different? Why must a stopper be put on borned muslims who found peace from a different belief? Is islam so weak that anything that deviates from the norm must be supressed and hidden?

I was born a Muslim and I have read the Quran in 3 different language -- Arab, Malay and English, and there is not a single word or sentence in the book stating that it is the responsibility of a Muslim to ensure that another Muslim does not denounce Islam. The Quran do not even mention that I as a Muslim should be concerned with the faith and belief of another Muslim.

Even another religion in Malaysia is also well-known for killing their family member who converts to other religion. The bottomline, in Malaysia it was stated in the constitution that one of the definition of malay is that he or she must be a MUSLIM. When we were small, we were taught to uphold the Constitution simply becoz it's highest law of the land.Today, we are told of the existence of the dual court systems in the country, the other sometimes being superior than the other.1 is secular in nature, the other religious.Wish that other religions have their own courts too, but that will never happen coz SIN is God's thing to matter, not humans to interfere. Agong is only symbolic. And with the recent case where the Prime Minister of Singapore demanded a further pay raise in addition to his already bloated USD1.2 million a year (the highest paid ruler in the world), I don't see how different are they from Malaysia.

There will only be a successful nation when there is FREEDOM! When there is oppression of one's freedom to profess a religion then the country is in total medieval state. Please lah you all. Everyone start praying for Revathi/Suresh now, rather than mocking this government. Yes, I must agree, they can't be fair all the time. But as Ghandi put it, don't hate the person but his character. Almost all the cabinet ministers are Muslims, so Islam must be a priority. That's the source of the problem, mixing religion with politics. Remember, you can't serve 2 masters, u can never love both equally.

Siti Fatimah/Revathi isn't a Malay, she's an Indian. So the constitutional law for Malays being Muslims doesn't apply to her at all.

In the past when the population was 50% malays and 50% non-malays; the non-malays were able to contribute economically to the other 50% of malay parasites (birth right to aid from government). The population is now tipping toward 70% malays and 30% non-malays, it wont be long before the situation results in a spiral of recession.

I think at the end of the day, non-muslim Malaysians must decide whether to leave this sinking ship. As one of the comments rightly pointed out that Robert Kuok and Ananda Krishnan is getting out of Malaysia. This is a brilliant country but the government and the malays are pilfering the wealth of the country.

Contentious? How can it be contentious when the woman is trialed under syariah court! It has been decided that she is a Muslim before the hearing by appearing in a Muslim court! Malaysia has a very long way to go in religious freedom. The truth of the matter is Article 11 is a caveat to allow the government to exercise this sort of injustice to human rights!I think at the end of the day, non-muslim Malaysians must decide whether to leave this sinking ship.

Do you notice that are no personal attacks, swearing or name calling(yet) in this comments. At this level, many would consider this blasphemy(was expecting death threats) This smacks right in the face of our current politicians who think we cant have a discussion proper.
Here's an idea for the Malaysian political future - BE EQUAL OR STAY NEUTRAL. The Turkish are demanding this neutrality be guarded.

Think about this (e.g): if you renounce your citizenship can you get it back automatically? No way! Islam is not the shirt that you wear on your back and change to another at your whim and fancy. To embrace it is to sacrifice your soul. So compare: why is God's law made to be beneath Man's law (the citizenship e.g.)?

It is indeed baffling that the authourities are allowed such callous and bullying actions. I cannot imagine how any fair minded human being will even begin considering embrassing this so called perfect religion.

Syariah law will soon be forced down on your throat. Robert Kuok, Malaysia riches man, did the right thing by moving his assets quietly out of Malaysia (he delisted PPB oil palm and shifted the asset to Singapore). Now, Ananda Krisnan (also one of the richest men in Malaysia and owner of Maxis, Astro & Tanjong) is doing the same thing too. Barisan Nasional should be punished in the coming general election for scaring away investors

3. Separating a child from her mother is just plain wrong! C'mon guys, have a heart. The child needs her mother. :( It's not like the mother is a drug addict who is busy shooting up and not caring for her child!
4. Detaining the mother against her will and then not providing her with her medical needs is cruel. If you're going to play God, at least provide her with food & medical attention.
5. Whose fault would it be if the mother dies while in detention?

How can a professor said that ISLAM existed in Malaysia before colonial powers?! He must not have read his history textbooks where it clearly outlined the existence of Hinduism. He should read up on his facts and especially about Parameswara. How the heck did he pass his UPSR, PMR and SPM?!

That idiot lawyer argues that Islam existed in Malaysia even before the British law came. What about the fact that even before Islam came to Malaysia, the country was entirely Hindu! The entire southeast Asia was Hindu and had strong political and economic links with India. Malaysia, Indonesia etc were forcefully converted to Islam by the same sort of foul tactics that we are seeing in this present case. This must be stopped and the region must be allowed to return to its original religion.

The Executive branch imposes and maintains Syariah Laws (even when it does not fit in nicely with the federal constitution)
Please decide on what our shared values should be based upon. Obviously it should be the federal constitution. This is NOT about Islamic law or Malay protection. Malaysia must have common agreed values (constitution) by all equal citizens. Otherwise Malaysia IS doomed because we have no clear framework.

If you are born a Malay, you are FORCED to be Muslim. Denying a mother her right to a child and putting her in REHAB doesn't make sense at all. This government is very tyrannic. The Malays should know that if you have to give people their freedom of choice, and have to TOLERATE other religious beliefs. Who are they to say this woman has to be a Muslim? Religion and politics mixing is going to end up in chaos.

A lot of Muslim in Malaysia actually are nice tolerant lot. Only some who uses Islam as a form of power over people & politicians who tries to fish votes. This has nothing to do with religions but more to supposed-ly to protect the Malay race. I really hated it when these things happen in Malaysia & a lot of my Muslim friend disagreed too.

This is appalling. Why should someone's religious belief be a matter taken into the hands of the state? Its a personal thing. It is arrogant to assume that you have a right to someone else's faith. It is utterly shocking for me to discover that there is an institution set up for apostates, "religious deviants" and Muslim women pregnant by non-Muslim men. I hope Revathy will be released soon.

i 'm just wondering. If the ustad claims that if everyone has the freedom, then malaysia is finished? Why? we don't have any rules on other religions and yet we can still see thousands of malaysian practising their own belief. So why must Islam be any different? Why must a stopper be put on borned muslims who found peace from a different belief? Is islam so weak that anything that deviates from the norm must be supressed and hidden?

It is clear that the Malays are just out to protect their interest. This is best observed when the old chap who don't seem to know what is talking about commented; to ask the government to create a law for apostates, because if such things are allowed the MALAYS will be finished. Please note that it was not said that islam will be finished but the malays will be finished. To separate a mother from her child is the worst kinds of sin, so use your blady head not your arses.

I was born a Muslim and I have read the Quran in 3 different language -- Arab, Malay and English, and there is not a single word or sentence in the book stating that it is the responsibility of a Muslim to ensure that another Muslim does not denounce Islam. The Quran do not even mention that I as a Muslim should be concerned with the faith and belief of another Muslim.

We should love God because we believe the truth n its beauty;love and forgiveness. By our actions of the same love and forgiveness, others will know and love God too.
Don't think force is involved here. Religion tells us that somethings are bad for us and we should not follow. However, does that give right for humans to punish another for not following the ways?

I belief that love for one another as human being and not only for the same faith is what God has taught.

I could't agree more with your statement. An I would like to add that religion and government should never ever mix. As in malaysia where the pre-occupation with religion, has lead to neglect in many other areas which obviously need much more attention.
P.S. The Farid fellow is clearly a blundering fool, who was given 5 lines to repeat profusely, but his timing is rubbish. Plus being an educator I can't begin to imagine the kind of minds he's moulding. The future, sure looks bright.
