It was in Nuremberg because at that time Munich had not such a big Stadium. And at that time 1. Fußball Club Nürnberg was the most successful german team (8 championships, the ninth followed in 1968). The rise of Bayern München started later on.

Fanz Roth scored the winning goal in the 1976 European Cup final at Hampden when Bayern defeated St Ettiene. A good player and a tough competitor. Also, hambetta I wouldn't detract from Celtic winning in 1967 as that was the greatest Scottish team ever. It's hard to accept that when they're your rivals but its true.

Hammbetta, I would beg to differ. As an Aberdeen fan I have little love for Glasgow, however, even less love for Rangers who are Scotland's shame and embarrass us regularly, however, The European Cup in its older form was actually the cup that each country's Champions entered and thus was a proper Champions' trophy. I doubt Real Madrid, Liverpool, Barca, Milan, Man U, Celtic or Ajax teams that won it would disagree. I also doubt they'd value the opinion of one of the group of shame.
