With what I remember there was no explanation about why they had to switch to the Turbo powers. I could think of one. The Zeo powers got more powerful over time right? So how about they got so powerful that the morphing grid couldn't handle it. So they try to copy the Zeo powers so they could stay in this state and not over power the grid. But not everything gets copied correctly so they can't recreate the Zeo powers. So they used the copy to create the Turbo powers.

@Dexilan The explanation was that they needed to get through the nemesis triangle and there was no way to do it with the Zeo powers. Stronger doesn't always mean better.

But the Turbo zords did look cool and the transformations were cool. But I think we could all agree that Turbo was shit. Except the last episode of the season. That was just depressing. What you have to realize here is that Carranger, the Sentai counterpart to Turbo, was actually mostly a parody of itself. Saban took it and tried to make it serious and...this is what you get.

Let the haters hate. Aside from the weird flailing ranger arm gestures when initiating docking sequence, I like the slow deliberate zord docking procedure. These are machines that are the size of football fields, you can't just slap them together in a 3 second montage.

@midnightscare1 There are always two pairs of hands used for a Megazord. One that are its "robotic" hands. Usually they are just a huge fist, you'll notice it when the megazord just formed or if it's holding its weapon. Then there are the suit actor's own hands, he's just wearing a pair of gloves painted or modeled after the Megazord's hands.

Given that this was shoehorned into a movie, I wonder how much, if any, sentai footage was used. For the big screen I suspect that they had to film their own stuff so that the quality would match up rather than tenuously cutting from fairly crisp American footage to notably lower quality Japanese footage, like they do on the show; especially given that Carranger was out a few years before Turbo.

They just reused the costume, since they never said anything in show about Maligore and Dark Specter either being related or of the same species.
