  • THE ONLY NATIONAL CUISINE WITH FLAVOUR!

  • @mithilag

There are many delicious cuisines from around the world. In fact, a lot of dishes cooked on this episode are influences that India had from Persian, Turkish, Afghan and Central Asian cuisines. Indian cuisine is diverse BECAUSE it takes in from other cuisines. In fact, it is only within the past 400 yrs that Indian cuisine used tomatoes and Red chilli powder(both of which were found in the Americas)

  • I WANT HER JOB,

  • love the shows i've seen them all twice hahaha, makes me hungry everytym

  • I watch this show many times and still can't stop watching it

  • in Thailand we address Indians as "KAGS"

  • @MrNo1sman in India we address Thais as "LADYBOYS"

  • Indian, Mexican, Chinese are my favorite ones !

  • they say spice of your life literally means 'damn it add a bit of cumin!' LOL

  • شكرا

  • thank god he didnt add normal black pepper to the rogan josh, that would have been a bit overboard..o wait...

  • finally got my wife to try indian food and now she sprung

  • It's always painful hearing Indians mispronounce the names of the food items...garam, rogan, masaala ...

  • @BelligerentPacifist

Rogan Josh is KASHMIRI dish and these Indian/Pakistani chefs know absolutely NOTHING abt how to make it. They should either learn it the real way or leave our dishes alone. Anyway, this Food Safari showed me how much Indian cooking influenced Persian cooking & vice versa. Indian influence on Persian Cooking: a)Basmati Rice, b)Turmeric Powder and c)Ghee (Indian influence central to Persians). Persian influence on Indian food (a)Tandoor, b)Kebaab, c)Biryani). Simply Amazing!

  • @Anotherkashmiri The tandoor orginated in india not persia, it has been used in india since 5000 years then it spread throughout the world

  • @ADIMM0

Dear, The Tandoor came from Central Asia/Persia (or maybe even Turkey)...It is NOT an indian invention. That is not to say that Indians have not influenced Middle Eastern dishes. The whole use of Turmeric Powder, Ghee, Basmati Rice, Cardammom, Black Pepper in various Arab/Persian cuisines are all Indian influences on them. Remember that South Asia (specifically Kashmir, Punjab and Sindh) have had a huge cultural/culinary link with the Middle East and Central Asia.

  • @Anotherkashmiri Actually it did, the indus civalization which was 5000 years ago used them we have learnt this from archaeologists, even in food safari it says this go watch the pakistani food safari, and why is it my friend that you are repeating the same comment on all three parts of this video not that i have anything against it, The tandoor orginated in the punjaab region in india and pakistan

  • @ADIMM0

Dear, the word"Tandoor"= a DARI word(Tajek version of Farsi). Tandoor was not an indian invention. Anyway, if u wanna insist that it is, then that is fine by me. I'm an Indian, so I have no problem in it...lol! I do think that we should acknowledge facts. Anyway man, I don't care as all I know is that I did NOT invent the tandoor..Haha

Just like Chess was an Indian invention that went into other parts of the world, there were inventions from other parts of the world that came into India

  • @Anotherkashmiri Yeah but Tajik and the indian languages are related and share a vocabulary, and also to correct you tajik is its own version of persian and Dari is afghan persian, I am acknowledging the facts because even on food safari it says it originated in the punjab region and it specifically says it spread to central asia, plus even on wikipedia says it, if you type tandoor it says the indus used it, nice talking to you anyway :)

  • @Anotherkashmiri rogaan josh is also persian...lol, it is not indian or kashmiri or whatever.

Secondly kebab is nott persian, it is turkish..don't mistake that.

  • @shubroto81

I don't need you to teach me all this as I know more about MY Kashmiri cuisine and Middle Eastern cuisine than you ever will. Rogan Josh- is a KASHMIRI dish, NOT a persian one. Persians don't even know what that is...LOL....though Rogan is a Farsi word

It is debated about exactly who first invented Kebaabs. Persians claim that it was invented by Persian soldiers who could cook meat on their sword and heat it on the fire. This has never been proven, nor is the Turkish claim.

  • @Anotherkashmiri This is an excerpt from wikipedia on rogan josh

Rogan josh was brought to Kashmir[1] by the Mughals. The unrelenting heat of the Indian plains took the Mughals frequently to Kashmir, which is where the first Kashmir adoption of Rogan josh occurred.

The mughals brought it, from where??

  • @shubroto81

Mughals were NOT persians. They were from central asia...BUT, they had a huge affinity for persian language and architecture, which is why people often presume that they were Persians. Regarding the Wikipedia page...you should NOT be using Wiki as your source.....LOL. In our Koshur language, there are a LOT OF Farsi(Dari) words, which is the reason for the word "Rogan" in this dish. Rogan Josh was invented in Kashmir.

  • @Anotherkashmiri A lot of the central asian countries were under the persian empire so hence at that time they were considered persia. Why else do u think they all have persian or farsi words in their vocabulary? So rogan josh came from central asia which was persia at that time. IT's like saying pre-1947 pakistan was not part of "Bharat" or "hindustan"..later they seperated.

  • @shubroto81

There was no Bharat Historically before the Mughals...LOL. Secondly, Real Kashmir is only the VALLEY which has always been its own thing. Rogan Josh was invented in Kashmir way before Mughals even came to existence. Our language has a lot of Farsi/Dari because historically Kashmir has always had a link with Persia/Khorasan..Therefore Kashmiri culture is more Persian/Central Asian than South Asian..Anyway,why do u care so much about Rogan Josh if you aren't a Kashmiri?

  • @Anotherkashmiri am from delhi and I love kashmiri food and its people. Its sad to see a paradise on earth destroyed by india and pakistan :((

  • @Anotherkashmiri There is a punjabi version of the rogan josh too...:D

  • @need4peace

The Punjabi one is Mughal influence...Kashmiri one is the original one)...Btw, I am a huge fan of Punjabi culture and Cuisine...Punjabi Dhaba food is amongst the best (and tastiest). Mumbai doesn't unfortunately have too many Punjabi Dhabas:(

  • @Anotherkashmiri I know!! Have you eaten in lucky singh da dhaba in kandivali west?? I have heard a lot about this place. Many say this is the best place to eat punjabi food. Tho I havent eaten there nor I live in bombay but I have heard a lot about this place from friends and on tv and stuff...

  • @need4peace

Oh thanks...Good to know! I will definitely check it out..I just hope that it is a relatively clean place (cause as much as I love tasty punjabi food, i also don't wanna fall sick! I can't afford to take time out of work...hahahaha). Thanks for letting me know though!

  • @Anotherkashmiri Mughals WERE Persians. Then Persia is not only what we know as Iran, it included a lot of Central Asia.

  • @mithilag

I agree that many parts of Central Asia were part of Persian empire, but the Mughals were from Turkmenistan, which was not part of the persian empire. But they had a deep affinity for Persian culture and Dari(Farsi) language- therefore the Persian influence in india....BUT, the Mughals themselves were NOT persians. Some of them took in Persian Wives, but then many of them ALSO took in Rajput(Hindu) wives!

  • Mmmmm

  • this rocks

  • Love it Love IT!!! I LOVE THIS SHOW SO FAR I WATCHED ASIA, MIDDLE EAST AND NOW IM WATCHING INDIAN COOKING great show
