I have this problem and I am 40. I do not know what 7 x 8 is, I cannot do math beyond Simple Addition & Subtracting. I have many other problems as well (Acute Anxiety & Manic Depression). I lost my job 3 years ago and I rarely leave my house anymore. I usually just camp & fish, but I do not go around people and I avoid going out in public.
this is why i lost my job.. amongst other things.... if only there was some kinda dyscalculia tutor id give him my whole check (when i do work) if i would be able to learn.... life sucks with this disability i feel like i cant do anything with it or about it rather
It's great to see something like this, although as someone with Dyscalculia, I'd like to point out something very important. Dyscalculia involves a lot more than calculations and with myself as an example, things like computers and cash registers still pose a problem because it requires that I enter numbers. For example: I can easily confuse $17.50 with $71.50, $7.05 or $15.70 Only a cash register with no numbers would be this effective.
I totally agree. I work in retail and although the registers are very helpful, I sometimes make mistakes. I transpose numbers in the same way do, and I also have to double count the change given to make sure I don't give too much/too little.
