The last few lines Vanille and Fang say before they sacrifice themselves always make me a little teary-eyed. Even though they're like really cliche lines that I'd normally kind of scoff at, the way they're delivered and the setting are just really touching.
The only truly sad part about this ending is that it's not really a Good ending. It only lasts for about 10 minuets then Etro calls Lightning, that is the sad part.
Guys just a FYI Square Enix does have the XIII-3 website. Don't bother going there as nothing is there but a white screen. Now if they have registered that Domain then XIII-3 is being made!

At the start of the game, i saw Vanille and thought "Oh god another Selphie" But chapter 5- onwards, Vanille had a huge impact on me, she was awesome!! I love ff13, i love the fal'Cie and L'cie stuff, it was a really memorable game :)
Everyone complains about how they need to remake final fantasy 7 or finish with versus, but those people are stuck in the past, while we move on, to better things. I love this game

I just beat this game yesterday and although the Crystarium expands with no new monsters, I really loved the ending of the game and I'm excited for January 31st, which, in case you didn't already know, is the release for Final Fantasy 13-2. I'm excited and I hope every other FF fan loves it as much as I love this game!!!!
Bro, I was balling my eyes out as soon as Light was freed from her Crystal state. I never knew a game could touch the heart so much. Fuck the game reviews, this game is worthy for the raw emotion, determination, and just plain badassery that it could give to the public. I salute thee Square Enix.
you know I had a feeling something like this would happen ever since I saw the crystallized flames back at the beginning when they became l'Cie. I think someone even mentioned that the flames were crystallized in a cutscene back then too
I'm playing FF13 all over again because my brother deleted it.
I must say, I captured the emotion of the game more that I am playing it again and focusing on the emotion and not just playing through the game since I know whats going to happen. I must say scenes that never touched me before has. I wonder if beating it and seeing the ending will change my opinion about the ending that I once had before.

Why are so many ff fans so cynical? Most of the ff games are very good, sometimes even spectacular, and NONE of them are awful. Why shit on the new games when theyre just as good and even better than some of the older games. Stop expecting another FFVII or FFX or whichever was your favorite. If your expectations are beyond possibility, theyre impossible to meet. I guarantee that their will be another ff that has legendary attributes. Really amazing graphics and storyline. Took me approximately 8 hours per day for 1 whole week to beat the game. Really awesome. Cant wait to play Final Fantasy XIII-2 when its out
@Darkwolf1923 Their focus was to kill Orphan and one of them had to become ragnorak which they did. That's why they turned to crystals while Fand and Vanille became ragnarok (somehow!!). Maybe it was their focus cuz they were L'Cie way b4 Lightning and the others! They're crystal now and created a pillar to hold up Cocoon so that it doesn't fall and destroy everything.
That's how I understand the story, I'm not sure though whether or not it's perfectly right... the story is confusing at times!
@PrinceOF9Imagination Their focus was to kill Orphan, which would destroy Cocoon in order to attempt to summon the Maker. Fang and Vanille had the determination to become Ragnarok and limit the damage that would be done to Cocoon.
The party still completed their focus and turned into crystal. I see the crystallization of Fang and Vanille the same as from Cid. Their personal 'focus' turned them into a crystal. That's also the reason Fang and Vanille didn't return to normal.
@PianoWheatley After beating the game, I always thought that the Pulse Fal'Cie that made the party into L'Cie gave them the focus to save Gran Pulse. Cocoon falling would've brought destruction on Gran Pulse. By eliminating the main threat towards Cocoon, Orphan, along with creation of the crystal pillar, Gran Pulse was safe and the party completed their focus. That's just my take on it.
@OptimaTentacle But Gran Pulse was never in danger to begin with. The Fal'Cie yearned to see the Maker, thus they created Cocoon. Cocoon was nothing else than a shell to make a lifeform prosper and grow, only to be used as an enormous sacrifice that would summon the Maker). Fal'Cie are created for a single purpose and lacked the power to destroy Cocoon. That's why they make people into L'Cie. The whole rivalry between Cocoon and Pulse is a lie by Barthandelus to cover up this scheme.
@PianoWheatley I know about the mythology, and that is why I'm excited for XIII-2. And me believing that Fal'Cie Anima wanted the party to save Gran Pulse is somewhat because of the XIII-2 trailers. Noel said that after Cocoon fell, Gran Pulse was more or less a wasteland. And Anima, being a Pulse Fal'Cie, wouldn't want to see the planet its creator (Pulse) made be destroyed.
@PianoWheatley I think that Lindzei's Fal'Cie were ready to destroy everything in order to see their Maker again while Pulse's Fal'Cie wanted to protect what their loving Maker had left behind, which may had been the reason for the War of Transgression (maybe, I'm a bit rusty with the details of the story).
@phedre82 true but if you only look at the bad they where resposible for originally cracking cocoons shell and then turned serah and dahj into le ce ( i think they turned serah im not sure) and then lied to everyone acting like they were from cocoon and not gran pulse. plus in one way or another you could blame vanille for everyone turning into le ce (if she turned serah into a le ce that is) but somehow they made the two characters so awesome that it even makes me cry to see thier fate.

Final Fatasy is incredible for its beauty, and originality and storytelling, but beyond that are its characters. And these 6.. well they are some of the best charters ever put on a screen of any kind. Well done FF! An incredible ending to the first chapter of this new FF journey!

I just beat this game yesterday and although the Crystarium expands with no new monsters, I really loved the ending of the game and I'm excited for January 31st, which, in case you didn't already know, is the release for Final Fantasy 13-2. I'm excited and I hope every other FF fan loves it as much as I love this game!!!!

Bro, I was balling my eyes out as soon as Light was freed from her Crystal state. I never knew a game could touch the heart so much. Fuck the game reviews, this game is worthy for the raw emotion, determination, and just plain badassery that it could give to the public. I salute thee Square Enix.

you know I had a feeling something like this would happen ever since I saw the crystallized flames back at the beginning when they became l'Cie. I think someone even mentioned that the flames were crystallized in a cutscene back then too

I'm playing FF13 all over again because my brother deleted it.
I must say, I captured the emotion of the game more that I am playing it again and focusing on the emotion and not just playing through the game since I know whats going to happen. I must say scenes that never touched me before has. I wonder if beating it and seeing the ending will change my opinion about the ending that I once had before.

Why are so many ff fans so cynical? Most of the ff games are very good, sometimes even spectacular, and NONE of them are awful. Why shit on the new games when theyre just as good and even better than some of the older games. Stop expecting another FFVII or FFX or whichever was your favorite. If your expectations are beyond possibility, theyre impossible to meet. I guarantee that their will be another ff that has legendary attributes. But I'm not sure the fans will like it, just because its new.

Really amazing graphics and storyline. Took me approximately 8 hours per day for 1 whole week to beat the game. Really awesome. Cant wait to play Final Fantasy XIII-2 when its out

@Darkwolf1923 Their focus was to kill Orphan and one of them had to become ragnorak which they did. That's why they turned to crystals while Fand and Vanille became ragnarok (somehow!!). Maybe it was their focus cuz they were L'Cie way b4 Lightning and the others! They're crystal now and created a pillar to hold up Cocoon so that it doesn't fall and destroy everything.
That's how I understand the story, I'm not sure though whether or not it's perfectly right... the story is confusing at times!

@PrinceOF9Imagination Their focus was to kill Orphan, which would destroy Cocoon in order to attempt to summon the Maker. Fang and Vanille had the determination to become Ragnarok and limit the damage that would be done to Cocoon.
The party still completed their focus and turned into crystal. I see the crystallization of Fang and Vanille the same as from Cid. Their personal 'focus' turned them into a crystal. That's also the reason Fang and Vanille didn't return to normal.

@PianoWheatley After beating the game, I always thought that the Pulse Fal'Cie that made the party into L'Cie gave them the focus to save Gran Pulse. Cocoon falling would've brought destruction on Gran Pulse. By eliminating the main threat towards Cocoon, Orphan, along with creation of the crystal pillar, Gran Pulse was safe and the party completed their focus. That's just my take on it.

@OptimaTentacle But Gran Pulse was never in danger to begin with. The Fal'Cie yearned to see the Maker, thus they created Cocoon. Cocoon was nothing else than a shell to make a lifeform prosper and grow, only to be used as an enormous sacrifice that would summon the Maker). Fal'Cie are created for a single purpose and lacked the power to destroy Cocoon. That's why they make people into L'Cie. The whole rivalry between Cocoon and Pulse is a lie by Barthandelus to cover up this scheme.

@PianoWheatley I know about the mythology, and that is why I'm excited for XIII-2. And me believing that Fal'Cie Anima wanted the party to save Gran Pulse is somewhat because of the XIII-2 trailers. Noel said that after Cocoon fell, Gran Pulse was more or less a wasteland. And Anima, being a Pulse Fal'Cie, wouldn't want to see the planet its creator (Pulse) made be destroyed.

@PianoWheatley I think that Lindzei's Fal'Cie were ready to destroy everything in order to see their Maker again while Pulse's Fal'Cie wanted to protect what their loving Maker had left behind, which may had been the reason for the War of Transgression (maybe, I'm a bit rusty with the details of the story).

@phedre82 true but if you only look at the bad they where resposible for originally cracking cocoons shell and then turned serah and dahj into le ce ( i think they turned serah im not sure) and then lied to everyone acting like they were from cocoon and not gran pulse. plus in one way or another you could blame vanille for everyone turning into le ce (if she turned serah into a le ce that is) but somehow they made the two characters so awesome that it even makes me cry to see thier fate.

I never believed the bad reviews of this game and once i started playing i was blown away by this games creativity, beauty and characters. Final Fatasy is incredible for its beauty, and originality and storytelling, but beyond that are its characters. And these 6.. well they are some of the best charters ever put on a screen of any kind. Well done FF! An incredible ending to the first chapter of this new FF journey!
