  • I LOVE the music. Using accordians really adds to it ! Polka Rock?? But the one thing I just love, is in watching them having so much FUN amongst themselves! I get so tired of Rock bands just stand there and try to look too cool. These guys are such a hoot !

I'm taking time off to go there and see them. With Status Quo and others. Wow, a whole weekend of idioticness for about £25. Beat that!

  • Now that is awesome music...I am addicted!!!!

  • Can't tell if they are complimenting or mocking West Culture's music... :) How very peculiar... Lots of talent... but, PECULIAR...

  • @1morehouse4me - Bet they're mocking more every system of control, monetary, proletary, bureaucratic - shouting for love

-Gimme all your loving, you great and magnificent, halleluyah - relaxing in a French cabaret

  • And these guys are actually from Finland? YOU ROCK! Solzhenitsyn probably would not approve. Stalin....hell, he'd probably have the whole ensemble packed off in the middle of the night and shot in the head in the basement of the Lubyanka...

  • The Splendors and Miseries of Red Russian Army.

Whole concert was on finnish TV on the eve of 70th anniversary red army's invasion in Finland

  • @jusnabi

  • da fukin funniest thing i seen in ages i love them r they still playin

  • I love how they inject the little traditional song melody into the chorus. Good show!

  • that "traditional melody" is taken from the national anthem of Russia

  • That's the Soviet/Russian national anthem.

  • These people are not country clowns, they are damm good

  • C'mon, this is the only band in the world that has been able (or even tried) to get the Red Army Military Choir to join with them for some shows. I think that we all should do more rockin' and less fighting.

  • Words cannot describe the awesomeness that has just been viewed by my eyes!

  • so true :D

  • Aaaaaaawesome!

  • Hahahaha! Yebat' moy huy (like "fu*k my dick" in English)!!!

    Where are matryoshkas?

  • Fxxxxxx AWESOME!!!!!

  • Yepp that song its absuletly incredible What show

and rmx russian anthem and Alleluja I think 20years ago they gonna be sent fi Syberia cause of using national anthem and US song Bless ya

  • Well, 20 years before this, the song didn't exist, heh. And even if it had, they probably would not have heard of it....it's a Military Orchestra, after all.

  • Don't know when this was recorded, but I was THERE in summer 92 or 93 when they appeared in the square with the Red Army Choir. I worked with Osuuspanki in HKI. That was a crazy night!

  • The Total Balalaika Show was June of 1993--by the next show, sponsored by Nokia, the entire Red Army Choir switched to all-brown transitional uniforms. They were still performing with the Leningrad Cowboys though.

  • Not quite 20...I believe this show was 1993?

  • its rock!

  • r those russian mullets??

  • The guy at 1:56 is my new personal hero. Keep rockin' out, Russian Army dude.

  • @gardenald: agreed...

  • @gardenald thats also my hero^^

  • @gardenald

He looks like Sgt Schultz from Hogan's Heros

  • @gardenald Yep, I'm wondering if the tractor is a part of the rhythm section @ :25... Then at 1:22 the drummer is silent, and you can hear the engine running...pretty cool.

  • All this needs is some singing borzois, which I happen to have.

  • upload it.

  • Love the Cowboys; but this Choir is beyond amazing---how awesome!!! Would love to see them live!

  • army choir - russian anthem - zz top - what else do you want ---- hallelujah

  • original ZZTop - gimme all your lovin

    best repro:

Martay - just CD and Leningrad Cowboys

  • This might be worth of one little shock :)

I love Leningrad Cowboys with the Red Russian Army!

  • Hehe that's too cool...

Hey, is it just me, or does this particular song have a real "Weird Al" vibe to it?

  • cute lol. I like it, it shows a lot.

  • They would have been sent to Gulag if they did that 25 years ago.

  • 25 years ago, the Gulag system had been closed for 20 years.

In any case, they probably wouldn't have sung western songs in the 70s--just like American bands wouldn't sing Russian songs in the 70s. Now, the 80s are different.

  • i like the part where the ruskie is dancing in the choir

  • This just made my day!

  • Super !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How cool can you get? The Leningrad Cowpokes and the Red Army Choir - KHOROSHO!

  • Some members of this finnish band were members of band called Sleepy Sleepers in 1970's. In many finnish towns there gigs were abandoned cause "low moral", "outrage behavior", "sexuality" (maskpenis in nose) and for "political reasons". Especially leftwing of socialist party hated them.

  • Yep, leave it to Leftist pinkos to hate things that make people happy.

  • Very cool, Im so glad the cold war is over.

  • Hell yeah! Victory through superior Democracy!

  • love this band :)

  • great band!! :)

  • russians made many good things, but giving birth to Leningrad cowboys was the best thing!!

  • The band is Finnish and it's members' parents are most likely to be Finnish too.

  • The Band gave rebirth to Soviet red army and their choir, you mean? And russians also fucked up many things, but lets not go into politics....

  • The Red Army Choir was popular enough in their own country and overseas to survive the collapse of the USSR--they were still a strong force in the CIS, just because of their own popularity.

Now, whether they would have been as popular overseas without the Cowboys is a different story.

  • I don't think they ever performed together elsewhere but in Finland and Germany. The band just couldn't afford it. Nowadays I'd assume that Russia would not let their military band (The Russian Red Army Choir) to be "exploited" in that way anyway.

  • They actually perform annually in Australia with the Leningrad Cowboys. Keep in mind, the band isn't an independent corporation or body, it's still party of the Russian Ministry of Defense, though in the case of Australia, they're probably paid pretty well by the television network that hosts the variety show.

  • Any idea when the cowboys might be in Australia?

    Brian Coff

  • Heh, The Leningrad Cowboys are from Finland...

  • Loved this!

    Absolutely AWESOME!!

  • HAHAHAHA OHHHHHH MY GOD!!!!!! I have never heard of or ever seen these guys!!!! They are great!!!!!! I love it!!!!! Kind of like a new and improved version of Oingo Boingo

  • Man I was serving in the army during this concert and I missed it.

Few of my friends were watching this though.

  • Fantastico Los Leningrad Cowboys...!!! y con el Coro de la Guardia Roja... excepcional..!!

(no puedo djar de reir al ver ese tractor... !!)

  • My granddaddy, Matteusz Kopaczewski was a Russian General about 1900 before he immigrated married and had 14 White children. Boy, I enjoy all the Red Cowboy videos, especially the 2 versions of Sweet Home Alabama. The Queen of Karaoke

  • i love that part with the russian hymn it sounds so perfect in this song !!

  • I agree. It fits right in and adds a nice Russian twist.

  • Я в шоке!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This might be worth of one little shock :)

I love Leningrad Cowboys with the Red Russian Army!

  • This is the most brilliant presentation of classic rock that I've ever seen. The "Total Balalaika Show" is an improbable work of genius!

  • agreed

  • When I die, I want to come back as a Leningrad Cowboy!

  • but only accompanied by the red russian army choir!!

  • Wish I could have been there!!

  • this is so damn cool

  • genial!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ha ha, a tractar!

  • Nice :):):)

  • I added another Thumbs Down to all the racist idiots in this page. From under what rock did they crawl? Anyway, I'm no fan of Modern Music, but these guys di real well. Bravo!

  • very good

  • I WAS there, at this concert. Quite a show.
