She has a lovely voice, although I think it's occasionally a bit too dramatic for this aria. But her high notes and agility are wonderful. The only thing that I would say is that her trill was horrible...I'm a baritone and can sing a better trill than this.

I think when she did the trill that she was doing it for effect and more kind of silly in a way. But I know what you mean, I personally didn't care for it.

If you had read my comment, you'd have noticed that I said I was a baritone, meaning that my highest note is around G above middle C. Thus, a comparable note for me would be E above middle C, and yes, I can trill on that.

I am very aware of the tessitura of the different voices.

That is why I totally disagree on comparing what note would be the equivalent of some note in another voice... or what is the equivalent in difficulty... It is absurd.

Good for you if you can trill. Every voice should, anyway. So I don't think it is a big deal if a bass trills better than a light soprano... Even Wagner parts like Sachs or Brühnhilde have to trill.

And I do think that this soprano, whom I don't know personally, can trill.

Mmm...very attractive high notes. A different interpretation to what I would normally spend money for, but still, pretty good. I'd be a lot more careful with the middle, though...quite a bit of flat moments that seem to have more to do with not enough support. I'd love to hear her sing more lyric stuff. Is there anything like Liù or Mimì posted?

Brava Mariola!!!!! I like her voice. Although her Linda is not as a good as Sutherland's, or Kathaleen Battle's, she's an excellent lyric soprano.

This more "lyric-y" approach with tempo and the superb pianissimi put me in mind of Caballe. Not my favorite way to interpret this one (if the tempo doesn't feel like a rocket ship I get bored) but I have to respect that kind of commitment and control! Brava!

Can you sing belcanto without legato? Her voice isn't nasal, it's just not a good instrument (mind you, not an awful one, the staccati word is quite good).

I think she is lovely, but she my guess is that she is not singing on a true legato line and therefore the tone is underenergized and slightly nasal.

Note: "O luce di quest'anima" isn't a simple aria, you must have misread my comment, I meant that she seems to be struggling with the simplest phrases of it. And, by the way, I'm not saying that I can sing better, there are just numerous versions which offer more than this one.
