@NatLvzTiz Haha, I think it's amazing that some -perhaps- knows what he's singing. I was suprised at the answer when I looked it up. As I understand it they wrote lyrics to fit the tune, and if they were going for a clean fit they didn't do a good job at it. But it works anyway. The music is what attracted me to this song, but I find the lyric equally as engaging--once I had looked it up. Id would've never gotten the sidewinder = phone stuff and thus the whole meaning.

It was a little different that the other songs on Automatic. But one could say that about Man On the Moon too. I mean I think they had a pretty good mix of up tempo Pop songs, deathly serious songs, haunting songs, etc on Automatic. I tend to forget about this album when I think of the best alkbums R.E.M. has put out but it was the first album I heard by them and some of my favorite songs are on it! I'm glad that R.E.M. or whomever uploaded this!
