  • verry good video but 1 thing 00:00 mute

  • And where does the suction opening go?

  • This may sound like a stupid question, but what's the vacuum for?

  • @TheAsianAppleGod

When the plastic gets hot it is very pliableand when you place it over and object it will take that shape, the vacuum is just to remove air so the mould is just like what was used to shape it. so when the plastic cools and hardens you are left with what you were after

  • 8:17 fucking hot... Looks great.

  • This vid is popular on Castries

  • 1mm sheet ok ?

i tryed 2mm but it went hard so fast :(

  • this video is old. the new way of doing is opening up the housing and just simply inserting morimoto projectors through the front any inserting the hid bulb

  • I PREFER TO BUY A CAR WITH PROJECTORS INSTEAD!

  • Why not just paint the back of the shroud and let the acrylic act as clear coat giving it a perfect shine and finish regardless of paint skills?

  • please I don´t speak english but I know a littel bit can anybody tell me what is the name of this song? please please please

  • What kind of acrylic did you use?

  • Beautiful, how much do these custom headlights run?

  • This is pretty cool. Nice option if projectors are not available for you vehicle...

  • how did it suck all the hair out ?? im confused i think u missed a step. to what we need todo. Any help ?

  • @antonyr123 the hole in the middle of the table has a vaccum connected to it.

  • can u convert mine ? :) how much do u charge ?

  • how did you make that table.

  • Wont the acrylic get too hot from the light?

  • Best thing about headlight projects... you get to do it twice!

  • VERY COOL

  • hei please tell me what is the name of the song or somebody else who know? 10x

  • @l0gh1n4s the song is trinity - 009 sound system

  • @l0gh1n4s Kinda sounds lije Dreamscape from 009 Sound System, put its been chopped and changed a bit.

  • Can you do my lights and how much

  • it is plexiglass??? thanks

  • How do I place an order?

  • wow great stuff

  • why didnt u leave the acrylic clear

  • Who the hell does this! Sick as hell though

  • Excuse me, what type of acrylic used? and where I can buy? I hope your answer thanks

  • what was the vacuum for?

  • @bigr5150 to have a seal tight acrylic mold, something he did not show

  • Nice, i did not know the acrylic forming technique.

  • omg, I really want that!

  • Question, do you paint the inside of the acrylic so the front won't scratch or does it really not matter?

  • Muito phoda... Se eu tivesse os materiais faria só por gosto, mt massa depois de finalizado ver que seu trabalho ficou do jeito que querias. Mt bom mesmo.

    Esculachou mano

  • Fake! LOL

  • For sure that shit falls apart after the vehicle hits a speed bump.

  • wayyyyyyy too much work for stupid headlights

  • could anyone tell the name of the song? :)

  • cool project lose the fag music.

  • i think its easier to buy them made

  • @THEFASTBEAST

Miss the first video? Not every car has kits.

  • I don't think you would be saving that much if you don't have the stuff to do all of this .I mean the kits are only 123 dollars and i think thats pretty damn good

  • @FULLSNIPER324

Not every car has a kit.

  • quite the engineer kid

  • damn to bad theres to sides you gotta do

  • @fhashfajhfa hahaha thats what I was thinking...

  • GREAT JOB Keep it Up!!!!!!!!!2011:)

  • GOOD JOB Keep it Up!!!!!!!!2011:)

  • good work. at first i thought it was gonna be a ghetto project....

  • I watched this video in 2008 and even in 2011 I can tell you did a fuckin' good job dude ! seriously man it looks pretty sharp ! im not a big fan of chrome paint but no one can discuss about tastes. nice job well done my friend ! would love to get some neat healights like thoses

  • THIS GUY IS FUCKING GREAT!!!!!

  • Where can I purchase the acrylic sheets?

  • @chikagarlgola Local hardware stores, i know Home Hardware and Rona sells them

  • good job mahn !

  • now that how u fuckin use a oven

  • That is proper craftsmanship, something that seems to be rare nowadays. Excellent job :-)

  • @disgruntledgoat it's rare because it's expensive and people in general aren't willing to pay for it when they can get what they believe to be the equivalent Asia made for much cheaper. In comparison though it seems that in the US, more than anywhere else, there is still a niche for custom craftsmen such as this gentleman.

  • Silicone caulking isn't the best adhesive to cement the the shroud and or bowl. It doesn't bond that well to plastics, especially if it gets as hot as a headlight reflector does. The best would be to use a methacrylate structural adhesive such as Plexus. It's expensive mind you but it's intended for that kind of use and the bond is permanent and resists the high temperature. Other than that, thumbs up on the craftsmanship!

  • @disgruntledgoat nowadays? when did anyone ever do this?

  • @the80h Looking at some random bits of equipment I have knocking around, things just seemed screwed together better than they are now. Also, the number of cowboy tradesmen appear to have gone through the roof (no pun intended).

When I take a TV apart to repair (an all too common thing recently), you see all manner of cut corners and short cuts that have been taken - to be honest it feels like things are designed by accountants rather than engineers. 20 years ago, not so much. Just my $0.02...

  • @disgruntledgoat the name of the game is to make money not make the top of the top quality. was then still is. just today we have found cheaper alternatives. even with some of the brands that produce the highest quality have cut corners to do it cheaper. It has never changed, was like that 20 years ago and still is.

  • @alexcandy1411 hey can u help me out....i want to know how to make vacuum with the help of vacuum cleaner..i m still confused :s

  • Can you explain the vacuum part? How and when is that done?

  • I know. It's great! Looks like he should have his own shop! Can you confirm the gauge of the acrylic?

  • Great videos. I'd love to do this to my car. But, the music on the others and this one are about horrible.

  • FUASDASDKING AMAZING WHAT U DID WITH THE ACRYLIC IM FROM VENEZUELA AND THAT LOOKS AWESOME! NICE JOOBBB!!

  • @hendru3

lolololol i love this comment. Im going to use it from now on.

IM FROM AMERICA AND THIS IS AWESOME!

  • FUASDASDKING AMAZING WHAT U DID WITH THE ACRYLIC IM FROM VENEZUELA AND THAT LOOKS AWESOME! NICE JOOBBB!!

  • stupid song...

  • Awesome, awesome, mad props! I read one question in your comments, same as I want to know, that wasn't answer and here goes: How did you get the acrylic to sink into the entire reflector if you sealed the opening at the bottom with silicone? I assume you didn't leave the bulb in the projector, so is the air being sucked out the projector housing itself?

  • yo that is very good skills you have are you still doing this if so would pay you to do my chevy venture headlights email me as soon as you can

  • hi there.

    Great video workshop!

I was wondering. You use 1/6" which is 15mm thick acrylic sheet? isnt 15mm very thick?

  • @kikkegek man, you didn't see well. he use 1/16" - that means 1,5 mm. so I guess this is thinner than you thought

  • loving the gheto vaccum mold thumbs up!!

  • can you explain how you made your vacuum table?

  • that is tight i tried it on my moms 1998 honda accord and it works it took a few days but hey ur tips and explanation worked thanks man

  • 4 mins at 300. It was pliable b/c it has shape but I just didn't get any suction. Im gonna get a thinner sheet and tweak my vacuum setup. Where'd you get the polystrene?

  • amazing work

  • very impresive....

  • woooooooooooooow

  • what is that cutting tool called?

  • @Purpl3smurfable its a dremel tool with a cutting bit

  • One piece of info that was left out of this vid is that for certain types of plastic you must dry it out before attempting this. The lexan i used had to be dried out for 4 hours in an oven @ 90 deg C. If this is not done there will be small particles of water in the lexan itself that will cause the lexan to bubble when heated to certain temp. The temp & amount of time the plastic must be dried for depends on what material you use. Just a heads up, do some research before you attempt this :D

  • I thought, yeah, that's ok I guess, but then this step showed me what potential this guy has at being a master craftsman. Do not waste your talent son !

  • who the hell has access to a vacuum machine thing like that? lol

  • @GOOSEej

    Which part? the shop vac.?.

  • @AudioOnly

    0:41 the vacuum he uses..

but i see how he made it so i can probably do it myself.

  • what are the dimensions on the acrylic sheet?

  • whats the name of the song

  • whats the name of the song

  • nice work men, hey whtas the name of the song?

  • whats the name of the song

  • wats the vacuume for

  • wow ... nice home made heat formation table you got there ... got any plan for that table ...

  • is a vacuum necessary? I'm doing this right now, but dont have a hole in my table for my vacuum hose

  • would the acrylic melt due to the high temperature inside the headlight?

  • @sosaj64 im not an expert, but as far as i know, HID lights dont produce as much heat.

  • @pepene93 HID's produce alot more heat, their measured in K(kelvin, thousands of degrees in Farenheit) But that's in the bulb or projector, Im not sure about the area in the lamp itself though.

  • Comment removed

  • @hagrid868 Your so off its not even funny.

  • @sosaj64 really if you have kelvin which was a scale developed to have absolute values. which means there are no negative numbers 1degree K = 1 degree Celsius but at 0 degrees °C = 273.15 K so K does not equal thousands of degrees °F because 1°C is about equal to1.8 °F

    [°C] = [K] − 273.15

    [°F] = [K] × 9⁄5 − 459.67

so if something is 5,000K it is equal to 8,540.33 °F and 4,726.85 °C

    so if i re evaluate your statement if K= 1,000s°F then °C= 1,000s °F+ 273.15

    check it if you can

  • @hagrid868 haha Im glad your trying so hard to prove me wrong. So since you put that time into it I'll put in the time to break my post down for you. I asked if acrylic would melt at those high temps in the bulb and I got a reply saying HID's dnt produce as much heat, so I said they do b/c their measured in K which when 8000K or 10,000 K bulbs are converted to degrees F are in the thousands. I dont care about the conversion rates. I care about my retrofit. Shlda read my earlier posts & save face

  • @sosaj64 regular 120w incandescent bulb filaments are also "thousands" of degrees what i was trying to make a point is always be specific about what your talking about and yeah i read your earlier posts. But you've still haven't checked to see if i was right theres an error but most people are so concerned that they need to be on top they are not willing to check themselves before posting. There is a error in there i was hoping you would learn and prove me wrong. another chance missed.

  • @hagrid868 Here we go again. Since you obviously think your so smart let me make my points more clear. I dont give a fuck what 1 degree K is. Whether it's 1.8 F or not, that doesn't answer my ORIGINAL Q and the reason I made my first post. This is a how to on retrofitting projectors on headlights not a science or math video clown. So if you wanna talk those numbers talk over there. Now, if anyone has tried this retrofit w/ acrylic. How does the acrylic hold up over time around the projector?

  • @hagrid868 "what i was trying to make a point is always be specific about what your talking about".."HID's produce alot more heat, their measured in K" Being that bulbs are sold in 4,6,8,10 thousand degrees K, I think most people can figure out 10 thousand degrees is pretty hot whether in F, C or K. Im sorry if you didn't get that part. I was hoping you would but you didn't. Another chance missed. Damn. lol but neways this I reached my 3 reply limit. have a good life. peace

  • @sosaj64 what does make yo so shure thar K means kelvin??????

  • @elvisvwvw Is this a serious question?

  • yes

  • @sosaj64 yes why do you think that K means kelvin. maybe Unit of luminous intensity (candela) is called K

  • @sosaj64 yes why do you think that K means kelvin. maybe Unit of luminous intensity (candela) is marked K

  • @elvisvwvw A simple google search will show you

  • 10 000degrees K? The bulb do not get nearly that hot, that's only the color of the light. Thanks William Thomson Kelvin for confusing a lot of people. lol.

  • @sosaj64 I used polystyrene 1/16" for my retro, don't have any issues with them deforming or anything from heat. Polystyrene is pretty easy to form too. This was for rx330 AFS projectors and 35W hid kit, jbwelded the shroud on the lens holder piece. When I was testing them, the projectors got hot enough to where I couldn't hold them for more than a few seconds to give you an idea of heat.

  • @alexcandy1411 Thanks. Im using a little bit thicker sheet of acrylic, 1/8 I think. I'll be trying it out this weekend. Did you use a vacuum?

  • @sosaj64 Yea vacuum formed, with a home made table. No need to get fancy with the table, holes were about an inch apart.

  • @alexcandy1411 Just finished trying this step. Did you have any problems with bubbles? And did you use a shop vac or a regular house vaccuum, my first try didn't get enough suction to make the acrylic form look good.

  • @sosaj64 I didn't have problems with any bubbles, have never worked with acrylic though. I used a regular household vacuum. It was one of those dyson canister vacuums, dc07. In terms of suction power, it has 300 air watts if that matters (pretty much same as most canister vacuums). Try some polystyrene, its cheaper too. How long did you have your plasitc in the oven for?

  • @sosaj64 only reason i removed my comment was because i figured youd say i was wrong and let you try to save face. but you didn't so....

  • how thick is your flexyglass?

  • Sweet

  • fucking awsome.! nothing beats something you made yourself!

  • Good job!

would love to see it on the car

  • really good work!!

  • too much work for $250 pair of lights

  • very nice vid, but what is the name of this song?

  • craftsmanship is epic, method, a little ghetto.

also, sand before primer, and fine sand between paint coats and lacquer.

    excellent job though

  • Awesome! I use this type of system to make halloween props from the main mold. We need more people like us in the world. Cheers!

  • where do you get these acrylic sheets? i am very impressed as to how you made those lights.

  • Where do you purchase acrylic sheets like that?

  • como se vuelven a pegar el faro

  • a bunch of people were asking about the song in the video, to answer that. the artist is "009 Sound System" and the song is called "Trinity"

  • Damn man. I was like, what the fuck is the acrylic for? then i was like. DAMN! That shit is fucking sick! Awesome awesome job man and I love the tracks.

  • how thick is this acrilyc?

  • you kick ass!

  • can i find a blueprint anywhere to do the vaccum thing and where do u find the acrylic sheet??

  • you get a nicer finish on your shroud if you paint it from the rear. since the acrillic is transparant you get the perfect shine

  • Makes sense, and even rc body shells are painted from behind.

  • dopeeee

  • how you make that vacuum thing

  • dont know how old you are, but u look pretty young, dope ass skills for someone as young as you look. keep it up

  • i need to know how you make that vacuum desk thing for the acrylic shroud!

    btw great tutorial. extremely detailed.

  • youtube it haha

  • Comment removed

  • his table is pretty air tight. i wanna know how he made his because compared to all the other diy vacuum shrouders on youtube his seems the best.

  • great job....what about the music, author??

  • @jaquilapp 009 Sound System Dreamscape Track one Records vol 1

  • I like the acrylic idea. Very creative. Now I need to go buy a dremel lol

Btw, a lot of the aftermarket projectors for most cars use lower quality parts, so the cutoff is not as pronounced and the output is very poor. This method can be expensive and time-consuming, but the quality and output is more than worth it.

I'll be using these vids as a guideline for my accord retrofit, thanks.

  • nice but its too much shit but what if u dont have a the tools knowing my self ill probably end up fucking up the ligth and the stove...... jajajajajajajajajajajaj

  • who is the artist on this track?

  • @duffy5811 look above i have answered lol

  • pointless...

ok great i give you props..you kno how to make em..

but i think it'd be cheaper to actually go out n buy projector headlights for those of us who dont have all these tools..

  • Pointless ? um... what about the sum of us that cant get projection head lamps for our rides. He can make them for just about anything so how that pointless ?

He is givng those of us with out options a way to make them .

  • great man but also kudos to the camera man>!

  • Nice job it gots good craftmanship. 5 stars man want to work on mine?

  • nice job man!! 5***** pretty nice job keep working!!

  • youre a bad man bro thats some slick shi? you got goin on 5 STARS!!

  • have to admit it, that's really clever

  • lol one ghetto ass vacu-former i would never think of that. thanks i have one in my school but thier pricey to buy

  • really nice job, and luv the soundtrack

any idea the singer and the song's name ?

  • nobody needs to be tellin this kid wat to do, hes killin it right now. everyone should just be sayin good job, u kno u wish ud ever accomplish something like that

  • @evanellakb Everybody's a know-it-all these days...

  • Yes, very true. It would look GREAT! However, you would not be able to use a primer first, so the direct heat from the xenon would make the paint peel and flake right off.

  • @IznTrblInc

Hey, have you work on the headlamps for 1996 honda accord yet?

  • @IznTrblInc

unless you use a high heat paint...

  • whats the name of that song

  • nice music 5 *

  • very nice work!

  • done well with that mate, nice to see others in the workshop making odds n sods (5*****) great series of videos.
