i feel weezer has 2 styles. They have there old style with Pinkerton and the Blue Album. And then there is this new style which is wacky and wierd. this style sells alot more. And i actually prefer there new style. Whats wrong with evolveing. They were a garage band. Its natural that they sounded the way they did at first. They have moved on to bigger and better things. I like them no matter what they do. GO WEEZER
@dkicefire no way they were a garage band the blue album is so unbelievably produced. Pinkerton on the other hand is much rawer and more emotional, and although their new releases and old releases are very different, I would even argue that the blue album and pinkerton are different styles (although more relatable than to their modern stuff)
@ScottzoTheAvidGamer Weezer has been given many chances. Blue Album and Pinkerton are the only Weezer albums in my collection; Everything else has been total garbage.
@everybodyunderstands Disagree. Raditude was garbage. Also DTFM has some shit lyrics but it's nice musically. Everything else wasn't poor, it was just different. Hell, if you think about it objectively, only Blue album had nice lyrics. Pinkerton is very literal.
this song is so cheesey and so not Weezer. Weezer is supposed to be nerdy, weird, unique, different, and awesome like their first few albums. I used to love them. I hope they get back to the way they were. They need to face the fact that they are going down hill and get back to the basics. They just sound like a bunch of sell-out pop artists anymore.
@4muldowneys dude, this is their basics. the entire death to false metal is weezer amassing so many songs they didnt feel fit with their other albums they decided to release all of them on their own. half of this album was written in the 90s, their best period i think. granted there are better songs, but this is them totally writing their own thing. they have been since '92. name a band that weezer sounds just like, and ill believe you when you say theyre turning into sellouts. =P
@xAIRGUITARHEROx LOL You think Weezer is selling out! Have you heard their original stuff? It's goofy and different. Have you heard this? It's goofy and different. Sounds like they're staying true to their roots with this album. They're a goofy nerd rock band. Saying this is a sellout song is like saying they sold out with the Blue Album. They're still not too widely known, but more well known than Cake. And I'm pretty sure half the songs on this album were written in the 90s. Get at me bro.
@capitainCOFFEE I've always thought Weezer sounded like a combination of the Beach Boys & Nirvana. Seriously I think Rivers is about the only guy capable of going toe to toe with Kurt Cobain as a lyricist. I mean, Eddie Vedder, Anthony Kiedis, & Billy Corgan are all good to great in their own way, but none of them are at the same level of either Kurt or Rivers. Weezer is simply timeless feelgood music even as it's so insecure and at times self deprecating, you still can't help but smile at it.
@4muldowneys They're not going down hill and what exactly are basics to you? Weezer is Weezer that's all there is to it. Sure they've changed but for the better , and seeing as how most of River's lyrics and stuff were based on emotion like Pinkerton you think you can go back to that ? I hate when people say "go back to the way they were" or " Old weezer is better than how they are now" I mean sure that last one is true but I mean They're new stuff isn't bad either I like it enough to not whine
@4muldowneys , wait what. You're not making any sense. Rivers stated himself that Weezer always about sounding a little cheesy. I'm a robot has all the traits you listed: cheesy, nerdy, weird, unique, different and awesome.
@mayeighteenth - You're right. The chorus could have been slighty better. It doesn't have enough harmonic tone to it. It sounds a little too flat throughout to me.
