The Nokia N95 barcode reader works for some types of barcodes, but not others. It doesn't work for the typical linear barcodes that you see in most places, but works with some matrix barcodes, such as Semacode, DataMatrix, and QR Code. Wikipedia 'barcode', scroll to the bottom, and test out the barcode reader with the various barcodes there.
Yeah same here, I thought certain selected Barcodes would give info, But not Barcodes that we know. What a total omission by Nokia, from their manual. !!! Dingbats
They are called QR codes. These codes can contain much more information then the standard grocery store (thick and thin line) bar codes which only represent numbers. QR codes have those 3 boxes in the corner to orient the scanner so the codes can be understood in any orientation. They are used a lot in Asia in advertisements which is pretty cool. If you see a sign with one of those codes it usually takes you to the webpage of the company. Much easier then punching in the whole web address!
nope. while in the barcode reader application, it continuously scans until it sees the barcode (which is what the red lines are for). once the barcode is detected, it automatically scans it. no need to press a button.
what is that kind of a barcode?
