All too often I see a certain smug sense of superiority when I read comments posted by some of my fellow Americans. When the Americans says something beautiful about Russian technology-it is UNDISPUTED! because they rarely appreciate the russian scientist and the americans? Well, they are busy glorifying themselves! For What? FOR ECONOMIC DOMINATION! When you are bombarded with their propaganda and nothing else, you think none are superior the them!
Russian propaganda on the history channel? I think that they are trying to promote some respect towards the Russians, cause the prejudice that build up during the Cold War is cannibalizing their contribution to humanity. Just because they are Russians, you think that they are lesser than you in any way. Now this is very narrow way of thinking and I don't want to start arguments here, but this feud is over for 20 years now and still many Americans live in the Cold War.
Many people from the West and especially the USA suffer from Russiaphobia. Russians are and have always been very inventive and very capable people. Able to do things thought inpossible by the West. That the US uses Russian engineering already proves this. Boeing uses Russian titanium, The F-35 STOVL engine layout is build with Russian expertise and help. MD airspace used Russian lithium. The US Atlas space rockets use a Russian RD-180 engine.
You should tell this stuff to the Americans, I find it really interesting and will check out, however, when you tell this to them, they will be really shocked ;)
The RD-180 is a type of engine the US tried to build for decades but they totally failed at it.
When US engineers visited the Russian NPO Energomash factory in the mid 1990's they saw a same type of engine like the US tried to build them for decades on display.
When they asked the Russian engineers how long they tried to build this the Russian engineers said that they already had these type of engines working in the 1960's.
Well, it should be shocking for the US engineers, after all they were trying to invent something that has been invented a long time ago. I have the utmost respect for Russian ingenuity and I admire the scientists partaking in the process.
The fact that they were so shocked proves how Americans think of Russians. Now these US engineers know better. I know you have the upmost respect for Russian ingenuity. So do i.
@zaho87 Well it may look like propaganda but don't forget that this video was covering 30's and 40's. At that time USA was really nothing special(not to mention great crisis which stalled USA even further) while Europe and Russia was on the edge of cutting technologies. I know history, you don't know the history. Wath you want from history? Wath you think I don't know? Stalin made Russia to the superpower, end of the story. Wath they say about Stalin is 90% not thru. If Staline would have been an American he would have been a hero.
Stalin areested people to have slave workers - that was his model - and he do this always in early 30 is - if he dont die in 53 he will be started in 54 world war 3 this is fact - good that he died or maybe we will nwver exist ;)
If Stalin would have lived longer, or if he would have started WW3 more likely that America wouldn't existed with it's evil politics and Russia (USSR) would have been N 1 superpower. World would have been much peacfull place without USA. If you are happy with a fact that Russia now indirectly inslaved by the America. Crushov, Brejnev , Gorbachow and Elcin were bigest idiots, but for America they were the best Russians who hepled Americans to fuck Russia.
I can't tell you how it would have been with nukes, but Chruchow, Brejnew, Gorbachow and Elcin destroy Russia. Stalin made Russia superpower and that's why Americans don't like Stalin. I don't like lot's of things what Stalin did, but fact is that without him WW2 maybe would have been lost.
The Economic war has already been lost. China and Russia have no debt and lots to sell. The US is totally dependent products, resources and now even food from other countries, particularly China. China and Russia both have better educated populations and China turns out 50 times as many engineers each year, more in each year than have every lived in the US. The war is over. Why do you think all your products come from China?
You have my respect my friend, I wish all Americans to know things that you know. And I wish all Americans respect other peoples culture as you respect.
I am an American who lives in Russia now and have studied the history extensively. The west really ignores the contribution in the arts, science, and engineering of the Russians. Considering the huddles along the way that no one else has endured, they still lead in many fields. The west has forgotten that its very existence is in large part due to the Soviet people's sacrifice of 25mil in defeating the most powerful army the world had seen up to the 40s. UK and US could not have done it.
Great comment! Im russian who lives in USA, and never neglected my history, and moreover still sometimes trying to tell people in us that there more to RUSSIAN than they think there is...
I totally agree with you. It's utterly shameful and disrespectful how many people from western countries, especially from the USA look down on Russians and Russian capabilities. Most brilliant minds came and still come from Russia.
@ILTUSU I am not sure that MOST USA citizens look down on Russians. We mostly looked down on the USSR government. We all felt bad for the Russian citizens who were tortured and mistreated by the Soviet governmental system. In fact, I think the opposite is true. Most people feared and respected the USSR as a deadly enemy, rather than looked down on them.
It's not so much about fear anymore like it was on both sides during the Cold War. It's more about common sense and respect for the US military strenght wether people like it or not. Underestimating an opponent is never

@jimmywrangles "everything" I said was wrong? Please, give specifics and legitimate peer reviewed sources for your claims.
I've studied the cultures of many of the 86 countries I have visited, their histories and talked with people from widely diverse portions of their societies.
Without a doubt the west knows very little, but apparently more than you, about Russia's major role in stopping Nazi domination of Europe, Central Europe and Eastern Europe. I with visitors every day who don't know.
@km6xz ..bla, bla, bla...and after war they sleeved the quarters of Europe...and even now they have invaded other countries, look Georgia and so on back in time... ..what are you doing there?..if may I ask?...
@GRATZIANI2002 Don't keep up on much huh? The US, my own country has troops and bases in 173 countries, many of which the majority of citizens are greatly opposed to. Given that, who has Russia invaded? Georgia started an attack on a break away region (two actually) that were never part of Georgia historically, but had a majority ethnic Russian population. Russia defended the Russian citizens as any country would have. Even the EU agrees that Georgia started it. What is a better example?
@jimmywrangles Continued. The war was actually more than one war, with completely different tactics and efforts involved. The Eastern Front commanded the most attention and was most horrific in ways that the west had no idea about. The Eastern Front was a war of civilization elimination while the Western Front was a traditional European style relatively war between sides that assumed the other were peers. In the East, a bullet was to valuable to kill Slavic prisoners, they were starved to death.
@km6xz if u extensively studied them history, please, tell us, what about art , science and engineering since reds took the power 1919...???...otherwise looks like usual red propaganda they use deep shit with... yours neighbor, somehow, is KGB??...
@GRATZIANI2002 Wow, you can't be serious! What about aviation, rocket systems(still have the most reliable engines which the US space program contracts for space craft lifting), nano-tech, medicine, materials, computer science, physics, electronics, serious music, dance, literature, drama.....man do some research and not look so clueless. Ever see a quality ballet any where in the world that does not have any Russian trained dancers?
@km6xz ..waw, what about inverse engineering, what about physicist payed only not to leave to Iran, what about a lot of money they staled from a lot of country, what about all skaters running USA, what ballet where all mafia is going on show off , what serious dance, what , music, what literature (maybe Solzhenitsyn in gulag..), what else...I was asking you, what are you doing there because i'm afraid some guys are second plan of this CCCR propaganda! on you tube...
In Mathematics, Physics and Engineering and hard science, russians are one of the best! I'm an engineer and learn Calcuulus, Physics, Strength of Materials (Timoshenko) and (sixties) using russians text books - the good & old MIR Publish that shamely no longer exists. These books where in english and spanish and are
little gems, amazing explanations, excellent examples and lot of problems with answers in each book.
@cervantesphantom Luckly there is now a succesor of MIR, the URSS publishing, it releases all the old MIR classics and very good newer up to date ones. Look in google for editorial URSS. They maintain the same philosophy as MIR to release cheap afordable books of great quality content.
@GRATZIANI2002 Not that you really want to know, I am still in St Petersburg and having a great time. It is a very social and active city with almost unlimited things to do that interests me. I am busy with starting my second business here, spending all night in dance clubs or hanging out with any of my hundreds of friends. It is an exciting and dynamically growing society. It is particularly attractive for young people since there is low unemployment and good opportunities.
@km6xz nice!..I'm glad for u!..looks u have great times there!...but, if u spend all nights in clubs when u supervise ur second business?..not talking about the first?...means really a lot of things start to change there..nice!..good luck.
@GRATZIANI2002 Actually things have changed radically. In the 90s it was a nightmare to do business, and dangerous. Since the Crisis of 1998 there has been a steady growth of the middle class and doing business is a lot easier and profitable. The main business is not my normal field but it has grown a great deal, from 4 to seasonal 150 employees. The second one IS in my field, music production and equipment design. It is small, 3 people, I work on it in the evenings before going out..
Allah büyüktür. O'nun haricinde büyük dediğimiz Rusya çöker, Amerika çöker de O gene KAHHAR'dır gene İNTİKAM ALICILARIN EN HAYIRLISIDIR! Allah razı olsun, dualarımızla Çeçen kardeslerımızı ve tüm kardeslerımızı destekleyelim. Bizim dualarımız onların top tüfeklerin yerle bir eder. ALLAH'IN İZNİYLE esselamu aleykum

little gems, amazing explanations, excellent examples and lot of problems with answers in each book.

@cervantesphantom Luckly there is now a succesor of MIR, the URSS publishing, it releases all the old MIR classics and very good newer up to date ones. Look in google for editorial URSS. They maintain the same philosophy as MIR to release cheap afordable books of great quality content.

Espero puedas conseguir alguno jejeje, suerte.
