Her choice was that she had to choose between her daughter or son for the nazi's to kill. She chooses her daughter. There...I just saved you 2 1/2 long boob-less hours.
I hate this film. It made up the most heart breaking sounding scenario just to win awards and get people who want to feel "sad" to see the film. This is just as explotative as Twilight, only difference is they had real actors and descent directors working on this film. However it is just another Holocaust make you feel bad film, no better than that tear jerker "Jacob The Liar". The only "good" holocaust film I ever seen was Schindlers List. because it wasn't just about the list or a "choice".
@mrfivegold they didn't "make up" the scenario to win awards. The movie was based on a novel by William Styron; someone thought his novel was moving enough to commit to film. As cruel as the Nazis were, the situation was believable. And unlike Twilight, at least it had a point and gave the viewer something to think about.

The movie is based around Sophie who is taken into the concentration camp with her 2 kids and she gets told to pick which one of her children will live and the other will die :( Its a really sad movie but at the same time its amazing to watch.

It's just because I agree with so many, and I love this movie. I have loved, and been mesmerized by Meryl Streep ever since this performance :)

In a nutshell, it's about this Polish woman living in Brooklyn who'd survived a Nazi concentration camp. Of course, there's more to it than that, but I don't want to ruin it. Really, a great film.
The original movie is in English. There were various scenes where Meryl Streep spoke both Polish and German; those scenes had English subtitles. Depending on where you live, you may have to look for where to order the English version. It is one of the best movies about this time period, IMO.
