  • didnt know they made it for atari

  • This video is broken. Thanks Youtube for recommending it to me.

  • You can tell it's obviously really bad graphics made in a PC game making program.

    It's not hard.

I could make this really easily in Game Maker, not that hard, and then claim it to be a NES game.

When this joke gives out a NES ROM that runs on an emulator, I will believe him then.

  • @ShimmySystem Actually, I asked for the rom three years ago. It's real. What the fuck does he owe you anyway?

  • @Th3SMS I say you're lying unless you show it.

  • @ShimmySystem Well that was obvious.. After uploading my pandora's battery videos I got ~1000 messages regarding them, and I cleared half of them. The rom went too : /

  • @Th3SMS So it was a .NES rom that ran on an emulator?

Unless he found a way to scale sprites that smooth in 60 fps, you and this guy are lying.

I just highly doubt the PPU can render these graphics like the video shows.

  • @Th3SMS If he was advertising this as a PC game to look like the NES then it would make sense, but since he's blatantly saying it is made for the NES, I'd like to see some proof because after hanging out and talking to REAL Nes programmers, it seems suspicious.

  • @ShimmySystem You got me suspicious as well, because the package he sent me had an exe file, and I remember trying it on Nestopia and couldn't get it to work. You might just be right.

  • @Th3SMS It would be compiled as an .NES file, not EXE, EXE means an executable file that you can open by itself, aka it WAS a computer game if that was the case.

  • @Th3SMS Someone proved it was a Game Maker game (IE, a PC game).

  • @iniche Yeah, he said the rom was packed inside the "emulator" exe file, so I couldn't run it on a different one.. But I was 14 at the time, and didn't have a reason to believe otherwise :-p

  • The thing is that there are better people at 6502 ASM then this guy, and people who know more about 6502 ASM then this guy, and I asked them if this is real and they said it's fake.

Even I think so, because you cannot render a NES sprite that smooth, and you can't scale it that smooth. Even if you could, it certainly wouldn't run so fast, it would probably be a low frame rate,

which is why this is FAKE.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRK! >:-(

  • On my iPod:

The file could not be found.

  • hay guys this video works on youtube XL

  • Thumbs up. This is pretty awesome stuff. The nes even after all these years still has awesome potential.

  • This is how the story goes:

Brown midget guy/doom imp whatever: Look at my dance! See my dance! Did you like my dance? It was awesome right? Its my favorite dance! Look at me dance! Cool gun! Is it real or...

    BANG!

Moral: Just because you start with a gun in a videogame doesnt mean that your actually meant to use it... R.I.P dancing imp ;(.

(Here I show random black and white pictures of Mr.Imp, helping the young and elderly, laughing with people etc, with a sad music track)

  • @Thethirdeye84

Thanks to money donations we have been able to bring poor mr.Imp back to life!

Mr.Imp: Im so happy! I have returned! I can make this world a better place now! Ill work towards world peace and then ill crea...

    BANG!

Moral: Fuck it, its just a damn dancing imp.

  • who programmed this has alot of time on there hands just to waste time...

  • Exactly, raycasting in pure 6502 asm is a lot of work, really good job ++ ;)

  • Why would you bother making an nes one? Pointless but descent job, I know how long games take to make from scratch.

  • where I can get this game

  • faceball was also on the old gameboy, but even then it was really jumpy. the scrolling in this test is extremely smooth. can't wait to see what will come of it.

  • in 1983 star wars arcade used vector technology to simulate 3d on very primitive hardware. Is it possible? Yes, will it look great, Nope.

  • u cant get 3d on nes

  • @toepsaspore Origional Doon aint 3D

  • @toepsaspore You can get 3D on any system that is capable of drawing graphics. NES doesn't have 3D functions built into the hardware, and it's graphics system is pretty poor, so you can only do really slow software 3D, but it can still be done.

  • @Fishyboy632000000 exactly, hell they made a Doom port for the ZX Spectrum and if that can run a near faithful fan port the NES sure as hell could.

  • @Fishyboy632000000 The PPU inside the Nes was a very advanced chip for its time, whether you like it or not.

  • @SuperFeimer Haha, chill dude. I don't want to sound like I'm dissing the NES PPU. It's an awesome piece of hardware.

  • Shimmy's picture = 404 - Not found

It is possible.... Faceball looks kinda like this O.o......

  • Faceball was for the SNES not the NES

  • img403 . imageshack . us / img403 / 9015 /recreation . jpg

It is fake. Made In Game Maker. Take out the spaces to view the image.

  • no more updates to this??? :( :( :(

  • because it's fucking fake

  • i think he's dead

  • Haha, you're awesome man.

The closest I've seen NES technology come to a fps was The Adam's Family: Fester's Quest. And those scenes were just pictures; not fluid motion like this.

So awesome; I knew this could be done. I just never knew if anyone was dedicated enough to accomplish it.

  • get real, it's fake. If you want to see real 3D on the NES, check out my video of a ROM I got. The video even has the link to the ROM so you can try it yourself.

  • Yeah, it's old, but HOLY FUCK! You're so obsessed with telling every single person who comments that it's a fake. I mean, I haven't scrolled more than 2 seconds each time and I see a comment come up from you where you do nothing but bawl your ass out about how this thing is fake. OK, WE GET IT! SHIT! Stop letting every single cocksucker here that it's fake. What, you think you're getting something out of this? Oh, and like I've said before your half-assed image proves nothing.

  • @ShimmySystem

    ugh shut your mouth

  • where did you learn all of this?

  • actually , all the knowledge is out there. its only very hard to do it. and this guy did it

  • you have any resources or anything?

The 2.5d doom looks good, you should finish it and release it to the public as homebrew.

  • If this is real, then major kudos, and keep working!!

  • how are you making that, what program etc..

  • Can't wait till the entire thing is done!

    Also=

This guy still alive or something? his last vid was 1 year ago and his last sign in was 10 months ago...

  • Maybe he is from Afeghanistan (He is not dead at this time because the war??) :(

  • His account does say he is from Afganistan... :(

  • Say yes! Look again, what appear to you?

    Strange...

  • if he's from afganistan ... what's the problem? he's doing a great job

  • Maybe he is dead... This I wanna say with this... :(

  • Don't you realize YOUR MESSING WITH A FIELD THAT SHOULD"NT BE TOILED WITH!!!!!

  • Wow, this is quite cool.

Can't wait till you get a full level done!

  • I like how the imp dies with one bullet.

    :P

  • Wow

    Holy shit

  • cool

  • Being a former Doom mod&map maker, having done both raycasting and binary space partitioning, and 65c02/a920.. I am floored. The 65c02 had a limit of 8 vertical sprites.. how did you do the vert distance calcs and updated those numbers to sprite/overlay coordinates? you may try color cycling based on # of objects drawn.. result = 15 colors on palette if the sprite tables are setup right. (pro ex:contra,blastermaster,lifeforce..) (homebrew ex:nesdev->ccorvel->image and animation roms) nice job!

  • Heh, maybe you should start thinking about a good way to convert real raycasting (Wolf3d) to this tilemapped screen instead of drawing ugly polys....

  • 2550593, let's see YOU try to make an NES homebrew game this good.

  • yeah i probably can't

  • Interesting.

  • Do any of you thibnk that this is a dead project? The guy hasn't logged on in four months.

  • I agree

  • @RABBIDGamfan make that 4 years

  • this could be an atari doom

  • Huh.... its not the most preaty graphics on a NES, but coding a game from scratch is a tough, long process. Although theres people out there who can't appreciate the efforts of hard work, just because "its ugly", just know that theres people that do appreciate this, including me! Nice way to bring back the 80's :)

  • Dude you should change the wall and floor colors to like shades of gray and stuff because this looks like atari

  • The NES isnt optimisd for FPS so the graphics will obviously suffer.

  • cool, but you can't get it anywhere lolz

  • it looks like hes got a black penis which hes wanking with

  • rofl

  • Piece of shit? This guy must've put a lot of hard work coding an NES game from scratch. Looks good to me. You asshead.

  • @Dannibalized LOL ok, this obviously wasn't coded on the NES, it was coded on some game program to make games for the PC. I can make shitty graphics and claim it's the NES too.

  • this is awesome

  • agreed, impressive!

  • Most impressive!

  • How is this a piece of shit? You probably couldn't code for Flash, never mind an NES.

  • I know the origonal DOOM is better. This is inferior in so many ways, and I'm not emotionally investing in it either, it just looks good and other people don't see it.

  • I know, like i said this is just a fun little project not practical.

  • It's not about practicality, it's about accomplishment.

  • Yes i know this, but this isn't something you would want to play for more than 5 minutes.

this is like a stunt were you build a replica of big ben out of matches before blowing it up with firecrackers while doing the time-warp dance.

  • I'm not sure what on Earth you were getting at with that comparison, but I would play it through if it were finished. And even being capable of it is worth it.

  • If you played this all the way through you have too much time on your hands and not enough thought on how to spend it.

thats like playing through every vinegarly uninspired Wolf3D TC

  • This is a port of Doom, meaning you think people who play all the way through Doom have too much time on their hands. And no, it's like playing through one Wolf3D TC.

  • if you played through a port of doom that was inferior when you could play the original better version, means you have got too much time on your hands.

"And no, it's like playing through one Wolf3D TC. "

    Can you even read?

"thats like playing through every vinegarly uninspired Wolf3D TC"

every indicated i meant a large ammount.

This port is about as appealing to play as that stupid 2k wolf 3D port for mobile phones, you would have to be really fucking bored to play such a dull game.

  • every indicated i meant a large ammount.

    And "one" indicated I meant "a whole number in-between 0 and 2."

There are minor benefits to having an NES version of Doom in particular cases, but the main reason for playing it for me would be to be able to independently verify and experience the feat in question. To be able to judge for yourself as a user the exact quality of the port. If it can work well enough to be playable then it begs the question of what else can be downported.

  • @Ntranced1701: if you saw the code for this game and tried to understand it your brain would explode and i would laugh.

  • I've seen the code for Wolfenstein 3D which is more complex and even modified it, not to mention done GM5 coding, 3DGS 6 Source

    and Actionscript,

    SUCK MY FARTS

  • Man, you are king. Truly amazing what you have done. You have upheld tradition back in time!

  • I think this Doom on the NES might very well be possible if all the textures are taken away and levels are shortened and or taken out. I've seen at least one homebrew apple IIe first person game with texture mapping, and if I'm not mistaken the NES and the Apple IIe have the same or similar CPUs.

  • It doesn't have to use true 3D graphics, it could use something similar to mode 7 on the SNES. Although, I'm not so sure it would work considering objects in mode 7 are painted to the ground.

  • Hey -- where's the big update?

  • i know

  • No it isn't a fake , someone made this game to run on the NES.

  • ok, I'll buy it.

  • Wow, doom on the NES!!! Awesome!

    Keep it up!

  • Looking Good dude, ive Subscribed so i hope you dont gives up on this XD

  • The next update should be some sort of animation for the pistol, atleast some small sprite light flashing on the barrel. It doesn't even look like you were shooting.

  • Yeah. Sort of reminds me of the pistol from "Billy Bob" in the Sega Genesis version of Action 52!

  • Other than the novelty of having 8 bit Doom, there's really no point in this since it's emulator, the real NES couldn't pull it off.

  • I always thought that even with mucj less graphic detail etc, DOOM would not work on a real NES.

  • It can't display even the most basic 3D.

  • Actually, I THINK even a TI can do 3D calculations, also, there are 1 or two 3D games I know on the NES.

  • Fake 3D doesn't count, like Friday the 13th. It's just pre-rendered, like Resident Evil.

  • I've sent a video of the 3D NES game, made by square to you.

  • does a famiclone count? How do you know it doesnt pull that off? If you have a cart burner you could "owerwrite" it to another game cart and test it, in theory - it should be possible.

At least its worth a shot(or two) so dont count your biscuits before they hatch! Ewen if it turns out that the game doesnt run on nes its still good to see how far the programming of homebrew eg. common people programming skills of nes have developed over the time.

In short - there still is a point in this.

  • please give me a beta of this rom, i want to play it so bad

  • kewl

  • can't wait to see it done

  • Yo man, this is the illest shit I've seen in a while. But you should really just do wolfenstein, unless you actually plan on coding room over room. How big of a level do you think you'll be able to create?

  • that gets me kinda dizzy looking at it. I think a little bit more detail on the walls. Some good backround music and level missions or something like that. So this is really for the NES? Send me the ROM when it is finished!

  • so how bout that big update

  • this is fucking awesome!

  • shit monster...

  • is NES 3D?????

I thought the first 3D console by nintendo was SNES.. and N64 was completely 3D..

  • Most every computer (yes, even computers from the 70's) can do 3D calculations. Some can even view on a screen. (takes more resources) It's just the new consoles (mid 90's up) had hardware that was dedicated to crunching 3D information.

  • I know calculators can play Wolfenstein 3D, despite the title being called Doom.

  • This is a bug achievement for the NES.

  • nice work!

  • wow!!!!!!!!!doom on a nes alltrough it has to steel finished yet but it,s amezing to see 3d on a nes.

my friend dit also in 2000 talk about a doom on a nes but i guess it was a joke untill now a lien wich comes true, doom on a nes wich pushes the hardware to it,s limit, and futuremore there will be a cartride wich will make it possible to transfer nes roms to it

manny peoples are working on it,great job.

  • holy crap

  • Nice! I can't wait to see the final version! :)

  • Cool! And please send this to me :).

  • Cool :D

  • how & where are you going to sell it when its done? are you going to sell it online? if you are then i want to know the website you are going to sell it on. i already know its not going to be on ebay or anything like that because of its unlicense.

  • I don't plan on selling it.

I have it up as a NES ROM (*.nes format).

If anyone wants it, I can send them a link in private message.

  • O_O can i have it too?! :D

  • so if i ask for the program when its done is it going to have to be in a zip folder cuz i cant open those.

  • Which platform are you on?

  • Whats the title of the video? What does that make you think?

  • I was asking nintendoguy93.

  • In that case, I'm surprised you're able to muster the intelligence to post on youtube.

  • I wonder what the title means? Hmmmm.....

  • The framerate appears to be taking quite a hit.

  • Lol what fun

  • Teh Coolness!
