  • i think ill vote yes fuck you ireland

  • i think ill vote yesfuck you ireland

  • I am sure that nobody of you read the treaty. Wouldn´t it be better to read the convention first in a whole and than judge.

  • "Help our group reach 10.000+ subscribers! We are establishing a dedicated anti-EU group, capable of financing severe anti-EU campaigns! Vote A-EU!

Pull out the European countries out of the euro! Why do the British, German, French and all the others have to pay for the high-game played by Greek banks? Because they've comitted themselves to it through the euro! Pull out the European nations!""

  • Remember, countries joined the Soviet Union by their own choice too... What'll the EU look like in 50 years? What'll happen when it collapses? Where will be Europe's Abkhazia, South Osetia? Where will be Europe's Karabakh? Which countries will have civil wars?

  • Millions of Germans and French died during World War II. The signing of the Coal and Steel and EEC Treaties formed a new era of peace as between these two bitter rivals. Thanks to the EU, the French and Germans gave up burying the hatchet (in each other) more than half a decade ago.

So, it might be in your line to add a 3rd or 4th dimension to your negative thinking, MBP. Because what you takes no account of the new era of peace created by closer European co-operation.

  • Yes, there is peace now, but that doesn't make it right and that doesn't mean it is going to turn out good. Two wrongs don't make a right.

  • To date, there has never been any momentum for war as between Member States of the EU. Admittedly, it is impossible to predict the future. But the 27 Member States are more likely to resolve their problems around a conference table in Brussels (instead of on a battlefield in Waterloo).

  • That's the problem. A bunch of unelected officials will decide everything around the conference table in Brussels. The EU is undemocratic and doesn't care about the people. The simple fact that it even crossed their mind to assign Blair or Miliband, two of the most hated men in Britain, in their new high-level positions is proof of this

  • Have ever been internal regional fights undera a nation ruled by Dictatorship? Yes. Just wait a little more and we get our version of Cecenia - Tibet whatever.

  • EU member states can leave it now with the Lisbon treaty anytime they like to. Go home with your EUSSR scare tale.

  • The EU blackmails local governments. No one will ever even get to try to go out, so it's moot. Otherwise why will no parties offer a referendum? The EU is going to lead the Nazi party to be elected in Britain, simply because no other party will go against the EU machine, which is what the people want.

  • If a majority votes for UKIP, the Brits would get their referendum. I have little doubts about that. Probably already far earlier, as the Tories would rather hold a referendum themselves before being replaced by the UKIP, if they should deem that a realistic chance.

  • Thank God we voted yes and we don't have to live in the world of MrMatthe1180 below. I'd say we dodged a bullet.

  • First time around, Coir had the benefit of the surprise factor. Second time around, however, people had cottoned on to Coir's misleading tactics and voted 'Yes' by a two to one majority.

  • I'm italian. I didn't had a chance to vote. My formerly elected rapresentants didn't even put the question on the table when asking my vote. I was "unaware" and "unasked"... this is NOT democracy.

  • Next time you vote in an Italian election, think twice about voting for that womanising fool you currently call your prime minister. If you're so opposed to Europe, you should vote next time for the Italian equivalent of UKIP.

  • yes side spends 10 times more on adverticing for this wonderful treaty. If this was so great it would sell it self.

  • Yes is a favoured option 67% YES!!!!

  • I guess we are not going to vote the third time. Best out of three?

  • I voted YES because of this video.

    Coir are complete failures.

  • The more obvious response, of course, is a resounding YES vote.

When the sh*t hit the fan with our banks who saved us? The European Central Bank, an EU institution saved our sad little Irish asses.

Look at the roads in the West of Ireland built with EU money. No more potholes. Think about how Irish air travellers have benefited from low air fares arising as a direct result of EU competition policy.

So stop talking about antichrists. Vote YES. The Eu has always been good for Ireland.

  • For now. The day will come when it's not so good. Even then i fear you'll stay the course like a battered wife who stays with her husband because he puts a roof over her head. Money isn't everything.

  • Vote YES and send coirless packing.

  • There's no money for a 'No' vote. All the smart money, even today, is being placed on a 'Yes' outcome. Paddy Power Bookmakers are still going 8/1 against a 'No' result. None of the 'No' people want to take these 8/1 odds ; probably because, in their heart of hearts, they know Ireland will vote 'YES' today.

  • NO vote = we are still in the EU, like we are now, and the EU must be more accountable to the people of Europe. It stops the runaway power of the EU parliament and its gravy train expenses.

YES vote = no way back, we can't undo mistakes made in the treaty or the EU, our say in EU is halved. Some countries say is doubled.

The mature thing is to stand up and tell EU to correct the problems, not to give in to the accusing tut-tutting of EU politicians trying to tell us we should be embarrassed.

  • Brilliant piece of propoganda of lies. The Irish people see through you.

  • VOTE NO! ! ! !

  • If you're so sure of this, you should go to Paddy Power bookmakers, where you will get odds of 8/1 on a 'No' vote.

  • You posted the 666th comment.

  • relax people, what could possibly go wrong?

  • Google :

Project Indect (EU funded project to monitor You-tube,Facebook,blogs,PC's etc)

    EGF (the EUs own Para-military)

Sitcen (the EUs own secret service)

Europol (EU cops granted immunity from criminal prosecution).

Germanys LEADING EXPERT ON THE LISBON TREATY is Professor Schachtschneider of Nurenberg University :

Without an Irish No, all people in Europe face exploitation, war and injustice. The Irish have the opportunity to save human dignity in Europe. (Irish Times)

    Vote NO !

  • vote no ..... or be a twat.

  • Best slogan...ever!

  • Have you ever told lies about the minimum wage and regetted later?

  • Coir....never heard of them until recently....don't care about them....hope never to meet one of them...personally support the right to abortion.......but I'm still voting no. Lisbon has fk all to do with Coir or religion. It has everything to do with increasing the voting weights of big countries at our expense. It's a bad deal.

  • Coir are a pro-life group, who are opposed to the Lisbon treaty because they think there is a hidden agenda to force Ireland to legalise abortion. Not true and completely barmy.

Coir are also opposed to the Treaty because they believe that their catholic god should reign over everything and everyone via pope "ratzi the nazi". But the Lisbon treaty does not mention god so they are not happy.

They're religous nutjobs and killjoys, who want to create a NWO based on the holy roman empire. LOONS

  • xardoxify - is a nut job who has to resort to ridicule rather than to debate the content of the treaty, he doesn't seem so bright. Religious freedom is not one of the things he approves of as you can see from his comments. I believe we have a Fascist here folks.

    xardoxify = EU shill.

  • I'm for women having control over their bodies, but I want us Irish to change it ourselves - not the EU bureaucrats. We're still Irish Citizens. Only just!

  • woman having control over their bodies? As in the ability to kill a child in their womb?

I agree that woman should be allowed to control their own bodies, for example if they have sex, use contraception, or better still if they dont want a child, dont fucking have sex...hows that for having control?

  • Yes. Women having control over *their* own bodies - not you or I dictating to them. I'd rather abortion still be banned, than take this Lisbon Treachery. We can figure that out ourselves.

You can't dislike being dictated to by Europe, and then go ahead and dictate what women do in their private lives. Don't you see the self-contradiction?

  • Did you know that the constitutional courts of Germany and Austria have blocked implication of large sections of the infamous Lisbon treaty/constitution ?

Justice & Home Affairs, tax and finance, social security, education, policing and military etc. will REMAIN in the hands of democratically elected Germans and Austrians.

Neither will the EU Court of Justice rule over/on Germans !

What a shame this will not be the case in Ireland if the treaty is ratified.

    Google . No2Lisbon2 for details.

  • The Irish people were forced to vote twice in allowing women access to abortions when their lives are in danger because the nasty so called "pro-life" scum didn't like the first YES result.

Yet, the governement still won't implement laws to protect vulenerable women whos lives are in danger.

I am going to organise a lobbying compaign to make the government implement laws which express the wishes of the Irish people.

  • Where does it say in the Treaty that it will create a "unified federal style europe"

It doesn't. Stop trying to put things into the Treaty that don't exist.

Vote YES and give two fingers to scaremongering and lies.

  • The Eu will gain executive power. It becomes it's own entity. Do you know who will be in power in any state in five years time? I don't.

On the face of it, it sounds good that the EU will gain power to force business to conform to environment laws. Yeah, sounds good! But then what? In 5, 10, 30 years time?? "Ooh, it will create jobs in the enviro-friendly business". So what! That can be done without ratifying a federal beast.

Do people think that federalism will be obvious at the start?

  • In fact it has already been decided that the president of the european commision in 2012 will be passed down from Barroso to Martin Schulz.

Mark my words he´s our next leader, if we vote yes

  • Yeah, right. Great that you have such contacts to be able to know that for definite. You should consider getting a job in intelligence services.

  • okay then lets have a bet.

In 3 years if Schulz isn´t nominated president, I´ll be a "model European" and I´ll worship our new dear leader.

If Schulz is selected as president you have to admit that the corrupt EU sucks balls and is anything but democratic.

    Deal?

  • HAVE YOU EVER SAID NO AND

    REGRETTED IT LATER?

2nd October, here's your second chance!

  • "four legs good two legs bad"

  • Why aren't coir members out defending the Irish peoples YES votes in two referunda which allows vulernable women to have abortions in limited circumstances when they are in danger.

Respect the YES VOTES and make the government implement laws allowing women in dangerous circumstances to have abortions.

    Respect your fellow country women.

  • looking forward to voting no...AGAIN

  • thats It

    don't think about it..

It might give you a headache!

  • Hey NastyVoid, thanks for the links. Interesting videos.

I'm a strong proponent of expense reform, both here & in the EU. But I don't see how voting "NO" to Lisbon is going to help that. No references to expenses in the treaty.Prob the best option is to make expenses reform a priority in the next EU elections.

Accounts are in the public domain so interested citizens can do that.If the Irish had said last time that the reason they voted no was expenses then we'd prob have had some action already.

  • dont want europe have any more control over us than they already have. if they dont want all of europe voting on this and run the treaty again when one country refuses it, then something dodgy is going on. its also like they used the recesssion to say "hey look ur economys shit now... better vote yes this time!!!"

  • Who are they?

  • NastyVoid - How are we joining an empire? This makes the EU more democratic than it was before. It also allows the EU to tackle HUGE problems, specifically global warming, as a block of nations.

Again, Lisbon only makes minor changes. One change adds a clause to allow ANY member state citizen raise a topic for debate at the EU by collecting 1000000 signatures. If you're worried about the direction of the EU then that, plus your MEP are great options for recourse. A NO vote changes nothing.

  • NASTYVO1D - I'm Irish. I don't think that we are thick.

USSR style? A military backed dictatorship with only one political party? What are you talking about?

The Lisbon Treaty does nothing like that. It gives some minor power to the EU. It allows for a unified foreign policy and unified energy negotiation to give the EU more say when dealing with huge states like China, the US or Russia.

The only new things in the Treaty are minor.IF you are against the EU in general take that up with your TD.

  • If we dont vote NO we will NEVER be a NATION ONCE AGAIN

    VOTE NO

  • VOTE YES :)

This Treaty is nothing more than a reform of the internal working of the EU. It will benefit everyone in the EU including us Irish (and look at the benefits we have reaped so far!).

Don't believe the lies from the anti-progress ultra-conservative ultra-religious right. These guys in the same ideological group as UKIP and Sinn Fein.

  • If you want tobecome a Nazi Vote Yes Your Choice

  • have i ever said yes and regretted it? i certainly have not!

    VOTE YES Oct. 2nd!!!!

  • Today's Open Europe mentioned that the Swedish EU presidency plan an EU-WIDE BAN ON ALCHOHOL being sold in shops !

What's next, anything is possible..a ban on bacon,a ban on cycling without a helmet,a ban on smoking outdoors,a ban on blogging ?

Also mentioned was the un.elected commission's fear that they will lose credibility if talks with Turkey don't continue "unhindered".

Things are getting out of hand,we are NOT children and will not be dictated to by burocrats !

    NO 2 Lisbon 2 !

  • "Today's Open Europe mentioned that the Swedish EU presidency plan an EU-WIDE BAN ON ALCHOHOL being sold in shops !"

And.....and.....and......they plan to steal you your babies.......and they will take away our houses......

Really where do you get such bullshit from ?

  • Comment removed

  • Its no really paramilitary force, its more somekind of Anti-Terror Force. Like the GSG 9 in Germany or Cobra in Austria. Also its only active in the countries which joined it.

  • A "crisis situation" includes, but is not limited to, "hostage-taking, hijacking and comparable incidents" where there is:

"a serious direct threat to persons or institutions"

As the EGF are "primarily at the disposal of the EU"...guess which "institutions" they will be protecting !

That Turkish officers have observer status is also strange. Has Turkey already joined the EU ?

    NO 2 LISBON 2 !

  • can you resend me the link please, because idont have it now and you deleted the post

  • sry...found it.

  • No but its no thing bound to the EU, the EGF is ONLY made by about 6 countries not more.

And sorry but whats your problem if the EU buildings have there own security?

  • In Sweden alchohol can only be purchased from government run shops.Perhaps the EU presidency thinks this is a good idea for all of the EU (see Open Europe).

    I didn't mention babies or houses...but I WILL mention the EGF !

"The creation of a European para-military force, the EDF, adds to the growing list of bodies, agencies and forces spawned by the EU over which there is scant accountability, scrutiny, transparency or openness. «

  • Vote no to retain the right to govern ourselves.Vote yes if you want to give control of your lives over to faceless unelected beaurocrats in brussels! NO TO SLAVERY!!

  • you sick bastards... you're really that desperate for a no vote that you would sink so low as to mock Titanic victims and the recently deceased Michael Jackson.... SHAME ON YOU!

  • Fundamentalist Far Right No Campaigners Coir might as well participate with UKIP and other far-right organizations. Ireland needs the EU more than the EU needs Ireland. Vote YES this October and vote for real democracy, equal rights and fairness. As an Irish-European I hope Ireland votes yes so we can continue to make Europe more equal on social rights, environmental, cultural and corporate rights. The EU has worked hard on social issues, the new phase demands regulation of corporate Europe.

  • @‹estpertine

    These comments are unmissable,

"The EU has worked hard on social issues"

."..make the EU equal on...Corporate rights!!!"

The social Marxism of the EU is to destroy Nation states and the identities of the peoples of Europe (mass Immigration is a weapon to this end.)

Otherwise, the EU is just a first step to the New World order- a sinister ruling Elite.

It is about Power and Profit.

    Not people. NO MEANS NO.

  • I think you will find that the EU leads on social issues. if it wasn't for the EU Ireland would still find itself in the 1940s catholic church dictating etc. Today we live in an EU state where gay rights, rights for immigrants, citizen rights are upheld thanks to the EU. And the crap you talk about nation states they are a relic of the last century. Irish identity is a mixture of many European identities mixed into what we call 'Irish' today. Come on federalist Europe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very true, most irish people missed that they once were one of the poorest countries of Europe and now they are not poor anymore and thats also because the EU send them money, a really big amount of money.

  • Comment removed

  • @Vespetine

Nice you make yourself clear- unlike most EU supporters whose real intent is just how you describe.

A social Marxist view that wishes to turn us all into one globalised mass of trash culture, uniform, cultureless and faceless consumer Morons.

While some shadowy and unseen foreign crooks seek to steal all the money for themselves.

    NO WAY.

IRELAND IS NOT FOR SALE. VOTE NO!!

  • Actually I am a sociologist not a social Marxist and have a great understanding of how the EU works. There are some parts of the EU flawed yes but in the majority of cases it has provided a platform to increase equality think about Ireland prior to accession into the EU women were second class citizens, catholic church and state were unaccountable now with the EU it has helped to stabilize and hold accountability corporate corruption improve human rights and produce political accountability.

  • @Vestpertine

    "Increase equality improve human rights?"

Anytime I hear any mealy mouthed Jaded Liberal hippie "We're all global humans hugging trees together"

I reach to check the safety of my wallet!

This media PC bilge is heinous nonsense.

Ask where the money is always first? and go after the money to find the truth.

There are very few liberals in business.

The EU is not about people- it is about Power and profit...ONLY.

    Wake up time.

  • The EU is trying to create a social democracy but i guess it cannot be accomplished because the far-right have gained popularity... voting NO will only feed the far right allowing the likes of the European Conservatives and Reformists (they are an EU political party just encase you didn't know) to dominate do you really want that? You talk about identities the EU is key to supporting identities if it wasn't for the EU the Irish language would have been ignored by the IRL gov.

  • @Vestpertine

I am all for European cooperation- in a responsible environment where the history, heritage and culture of the peoples of Europe are not just protected but promoted.

This I cannot see anywhere in practice.

The EU is actively involved in flooding Europe with immigrants- persecuting through the controlled media anyone who objects with "racist" slur tags.

That is Fascism not not Freedom.

The EU has a very definite social agenda and it is not Democracy but social Hypocrisy...

  • The EU is currently the worst scenario of phony social marxism coupled with crass capitalism- The media keeping people diverted on cheap entertainment on the ground while the Elites steal from above.

I am voting no not because I do not want to see advance and progress but because I do not Trust the current agenda nor the shadowy perpetrators of it.

The Lisbon treaty has in all ways been badly presented-but if they really cared for an open view on it - all Europeans would have had the vote!

  • One ring to rule them all.

    Vote No

  • vote yes for increased fundamental rights, increased powers for the EU and national parliaments, better powers to tackle climate change, better rights for workers, better cross border cooperation on human trafficking and organised crime.

vote yes to allow the EU to offer help and opportunity to new countries in need such as Bosnia.

don't vote the way the fascist, homophobics, conservative nationalists and far right such as UKIP and the BNP want you to vote.

vote yes for a better future.

  • Vote NO will boot Fianna Fail from power in a no confidence GE. This is EXACTLY what we want.

Our Childrens Children will be paying off the NAMA fat cats if this gets passed.

  • now now we'll be doing that anyway, that's a separate issue

  • Don't trust the EU as far as you can throw them.

They introduced in email and mobile phone record retention, next it will be the Pan European microchipped ID card.

Ireland is to Vote NO and keeps this up and coming fascist monster state at bay.

  • Ireland has already introduced micro-chipped IDs in our passports, of course you wouldn't know anything about that, being the xenophobic freak that you are

which fascist monster state are you talking about anyway?

  • I thought Europe was about Anti-povertty,and Anti facism,i guess those boys in france learned a thing from the SS,when the Nazi's invaded.

  • Would you believe it, that i Recieved a Cross Pen by the man him Self, Micheál Martin,as class Student of the year,if only he knew what i thought about the Lisbon Treaty,he would probably take it back!,thinking i was not thinking of the irish people, why is it after treaty after treaty, that the European Union keep pushing Irish people to Vote yes,its because of Money, and it is Europes way of saying "we own you"because you love our money.............we are bitches if we vote yes.

  • All totalitarian sytems have the following 4 things in common :

    1. They grant their police and politicians immunity from criminal prosecution ( the EU's politicians & Europol have immunity).

    2. They have their own elite para-military force (The European Gendarmerie Force).

    3. They have a court which is granted superiority (The European/EU Court of Justice).

This is NOT the case in a free, democratic system based on the rule of law.

    4. Censorship..wait untill Lisbon has been ratified !

  • Imagine a Banana republic where 1 million Euros go missing EACH DAY due to fraud.

A place where auditors have refused to approve the budget for the last 14 years.

Where democratic referendums are ignored by a tiny elite that spends 2.4 billion Euro on propoganda each year.

With a president of an un-elected commission paid more than the ELECTED U.S. President and a Commissioner for Justice who is a convicted criminal barred from holding office !

    Zimbabwe ?

    Sudan ?

    Burma ?

    No.

    The EU.

  • Franco Frattini?

  • No No No. The Lisbon Treaty is a bad idea. Ireland now holds the future of the nation states. The EU is already acting as if it has been ratified. This is outright tyranny. Undemocratic totalitarianism and is the final step to world government. These criminals must be stopped!!!!!

  • IRELAND,if you want to "say thank you to Europe" vote NO !

75% of Europeans wanted to vote on any new treaty transferring more power to the EU (Open Europe figures),...they were denied the right by an un-elected commission of millionares and a "parliament" that is un-democratic and pretends to represent an imaginary "European citizen".

Google : No2Lisbon2,European Gendarmerie Force and EU Corpus Juris !

  • God bless Ireland and its independence, VOTE NO!!

  • GERMANY is very lucky as the German Court ruled that the EU is not allowed to take certain powers away from sovereign states. These powers include police, justice, military, education, private sphere of the country's citizens, social security, credit etc.

This ruling makes Germany one of the most free countries in Europe along with Norway and Switzerland.

Google Deborah Dark,Fair Trials International...and THEN tell me you believe in EU "justice" !

NO TO THE CONSTITUTION/LISBON TREATY !

  • VOTE YES

  • The Stokholm programme has been severely criticised by various concerned Human Rights groups.

The European Court in Strasbourg has NOT ONCE ruled AGAINST the EU in it's 50 years of existence,so don't look for protection from them.

We are lucky in Germany as our own Constitutional Court reserves the right of supremecy over EU courts.

Open Europe is a good source of information on the EU's attempted power grab and planned Big Brother State.

  • Confused no voters, i suggest ye see the film called 'YesMan'

  • Is this all theory too ?

This week saw demonstrations in Stokholm against the EU's plans to put us all under surveillance (google:Stokholm Programme).

This week saw the EU "parliament" opened by a squad of Eurocorps soldiers raising the flag while the "anthem" played (both symbols supposidly taken out of the Lisbon treaty)

"The need to bolster Europe's (i.e.the EU's) military capabilities to match our aspirations is more urgent than ever (Javier Solana, google : EDA)

    Whose ignorant now ?

  • The 5,000 strong EUROPEAN GENDARMERIE FORCE (EGF) is patiently waiting for the Lisbon treaty to be ratified.

It will be "first and foremost at the disposal of the EU" and deployed across Europe (also Eire) for "crisis management operations" ( i.e. demonstrations and riots ).

They come from Rumania,Italy,Spain,France,Holland & Portugal with Turkish « observers ». All wear a badge with a grey flaming grenade & sword .

This EU Para-Military unit is heavily armed.

    Google their website !

  • did you know that lisbon treaty forces EVERY european country to re-arm...

    hmmm... guess why...

why would somebody re-arm... hmmm... what might the purpose be?

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

    vote NO to future wars!

  • EU security proposals are 'dangerously authoritarian'

The European Union is stepping up efforts to build an enhanced pan-European system of security and surveillance which critics have described as dangerously authoritarian.

    By Bruno Waterfield in Brussels

Published: 4:32PM BST 10 Jun 2009 in The Telegraph.

Europe's justice ministers will hold talks surveillance network proposals, known in Brussels circles as the "Stockholm programme", in June.

NO to Lisbon is a NO to Big Brother !

  • VOTE NO ON LISBON!!!

PLEASE MIGHTY IRISH PEOPLE, SAVE US FROM EUROPEAN OPRESSION!!!

THEY WANT TO MAKE NEW EMPIRE!!!

VOTE NO, VOTE IRELAND, VOTE INDEPENDENCE, VOTE FOR NATIONS, VOTE FOR FLAG, VOTE FOR THE PEOPLE!!!

    May God bless Ireland!!!

  • With all due respect, you do realize that the EU will compromise the soverignty of the European nations right? The EU government will be stronger than France's government for example. I don't know about you, but I see a lot of problems with this. Makes you wonder who is really in charge these days...

  • Why are they having another vote on something that was already turned down by the people? Seems like the EU is going to force the Irish to vote yes. Shows you how much they respect the irish.

  • We're as strong as we are united, and as weak as we're divided. WHY, Ireland??? WHY?!

  • Sign the treaty errrr

  • french power? mate it doesnt mather how much "power" you give the french you'll never know what to do with it,you havent won a war since....ever.

  • This ad is about everything but the content of the treaty itself. it's degrading to see that a few mouth-moving south park figures is all it takes to convince some ppl...

  • VOTE NO IT WILL NOT SAVE OUR ECONOMY!!

  • this video is deadly :D

  • what the lisbon stands for is sheer facism and nothing else our "goverment" asked us to vote and we said no but they want us to vote again, why? because we didnt give them the answer they wanted. for those who've been brainwashed by fear let me assure you lisbon will do no good to this economy.if we vote yes it wll only get worse as we'll have to spend more money on guns and less on schools.

  • in that case you dont know what its about. its not making a untied europe, europes already united its about making us into an empire and it'll strip countires like ireland of our right to vote even on matters in our country, not to mention forced to join the military at 17,irelands supposed to be neutral so how is us super arming ourself and being forced to bomb other countrys supposed to make us less likely as an attack target? if anything we'll be targeted more.

  • people still seem to think that to vote no to the lisbon treaty is to vote us out of the eu,its not! We'll still be part of the eu but we'll still have some control over our own lives. If we vote yes to lisbon, we give FULL control to brussels. Are we really that stupid??

  • Comment removed

  • Unfortunately, we are that stupid. Lisbon 2 will pass now that people have this idea in their head that it'll take Ireland out of the recession. Any signs of Irish power being transferred to Europe after Lisbon 2 has been ratified then I'M GONE. Goodbye Europe. I hope you all enjoy your autocratic superstate.

  • im with you, this crap about the recesssion is fear factor,if anything a yes vote will drive us down deeper cause we'll have to spend money on weapons

  • well you've clearly allowed the now facist irish goverment to brain wash you with fear over the economy, the whole point of lisbon is militarisation. which means if we vote yes more money will be taken from schools and hospitals and put into making guns.

  • omg, plz just shut up for sec internet idiot. u seem to be a really well educated person who has known and read a lot about the treaty....

  • em...actually yes i have....i've read the treaty online last year before the elections.

  • This video contains no arguments. The future of Europe should be taken seriously.

  • Claus is also a far-right, anti-gay climate change-denier. Not in line with the views of most Irish people. Most Irish people want Ireland to be at the heart of the European Union, according to opinion polls. Claus wants to see the EU fail.

  • The Lisbon treaty violates the UNs International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights :

Article 1 : All peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic and cultural development.

Please note the use of the word "freely" ...though not a word much loved by the EU, neither is DEMOCRACY or GEOGRAPHY ( see Turkey's bid to join ) !

  • Wow, are you a lawyer?

  • No, but I know how to google !

P.S. all "national courts" do NOT say that "Lisbon is in line with constitutions" ! There are presently two cases before the German Constitutional Court and a good possibility that the Czech court will also have to decide again when it has been passed by their parliament.

PS. if Lisbon is so great...then why not sell it to Europeans in a democratic fashion ( ie. referendum ), rather than forcing it upon them like an unwanted lover.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • I know about the issues in the German constitiutional court, but I didn't have enough characters. Well, 26 national constitutional courts have concluded that the Lisbon Treaty is in line with their respective constitutions. I was answering the claim that Lisbon contains "unconstitutional crap".

Democratically elected politicians have decided that the best way of ratifying it is through parliaments. If you're calling that undemocratic, you're wrong.

  • Have you heard about representative democracy?? .. people we elect so they can study legislation professionally and decide for us..?

  • BTW the Spanish and Luxembourgian referendums passed the constitution. - along with all national governments and all national parliaments which voted on it. The EU won't turn into a superstate with Lisbon. Please use Wikipedia if you're interested in what's actually in the treaty.

  • The Lisbon Treaty would give the European Parliament legislative powers. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

  • Legislative powers that can be overturned by the un-elected Council !

P,S. Why have the auditors not rubber stamped the EU's budget in over a decade ?

Us taxpayers would love to know !

  • And vice versa! Lisbon enables the parliament to vote in more policy areas. And WTF the Council are DIRECTLY ELECTED heads of state. The transparency at the EU level is greater than in most national governments. The budget hasn't been approved in recent years, which of course isn't a good thing. But that's not an argument against Lisbon, which will provide transparancy! E.g. all sessions of the Council would be televised. Use Wikipedia if you want to know what Lisbon & the EU actually are.
