I READ THAT JESUS NEVER LIVED--THAT HE WAS AN INVENTION OF THE EARLY CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE MASSES. OR, THAT HE WAS REALLY AN ENLIGHTENED TEACHER FROM THAT TIME, LIKE APPOLONIUS OF TYANA, WHO'S TEACHINGS THEY SAID WAS REALLY FROM JESUS...PLEASE ENLIGHTEN US ON WHY JESUS WHY WE SHOULD BELIEVE THAT HE WAS A REAL MASTER. THANK YOU FOR CLEARING THIS UP.
@Damis10001 I think you should believe, period. Because if you do not believe then nothing is possible. If you do believe then everything is possible. If he never existed then everyone who believes is stupid. If he did exist then everyone who believes is walking towards enlightenment. But you must be walking. If you are not walking then even if you believe or don't believe, you will get nowhere. So believe in the possibility and walk towards it and his purpose will be served.
To surrender, in this case, is to unlock your buddha nature, to free yourself. And I agree with him that it is probably almost impossible to surrender properly without the physical prescence of a teacher, a living being posing a vital threat to your ego and individuality. If you can overcome that, then you've mastered yourself and freed yourself.
Yes, I agree. But the power to question, the power to find answers, comes only through some type of surrender. If you consider, for instance, Malcolm X--his transformation, his discovery of his calling as a social leader (and a genius at it) came as a direct result of his having surrendered himself, first to Elijah Muhammad and then to Allah and Islam.
The word master carries some very negative connotations. I have a reflexive negative reaction to its use. It seems to me that a student should not practice intellectual surrender, but should actively question, challenge, consider, and accept nothing that they do not find to be unquestionably true. Otherwise, the student runs the risk of falling victim to a psychological enslavement to what may simply be the master's apparently wise thinking.
I agree with you with your statement. Asking questions is a very important part of process in understanding the truth. If we were to listen and follow blindly without thinking, then we have not really understood.
he just wants to help peel away all your layers of ignorance, so you can be fully conscious. The more you fight it, the more you fight your own awakening. And that is what this video is about. Keep fighting and you will keep your remaining ignorance. Stop fighting, surrender, and you will realize truth, and be an oasis of peace and light.
On what basis do you claim to know what another human being does want? Are you inside of his mind, where would have to be, in order that you might actually know his desires - rather than just having beliefs about what he does want? If he does want "to help peel away all of" my "layers of ignorance, so" I "can be fully conscious", on what basis does he presume that I a.) have layers of ignorance and b.) am not fully conscious?
Why do you presume, if you do presume so, that I am - as your comment suggests - fighting, or that I am not awakened? On what basis do you presume that I am in ignorance? (Just because I ask questions, that does not mean that I do not know the answers to those questions.)Why do you believe that intellectual surrender to another person's understanding and ideas leads one to "realize truth"?
How do you know that what occurs is not a realization of truth, but rather a falling under delusion, or a shifting from being under one delusion to being under another delusion? What precisely is an oasis of peace and light? Do you mean to suggest that you believe that one should cease to continue questioning and instead adopt beliefs?
Master is just a word thats all, it does not imply that you can never ever question the master, just that you see somebody has mastered himself, and that he can help you master yourself. The idea is not to go from one belief to another, but to transcend beliefs altogether and go straight into Knowing. Knowing is different than knowledge. Knowing requires no more thinking. What is the purpose of thinking about it if you already know it? Thinking and beliefs are just a substitute for knowing.
when I say this it might not have any credibility or weight, take this subject from someone who really really knows. Like I said society messes you up enough as it is, I don't need to help! These two videos are spot on this subject.

And I am sure you aren't ignorant, you ask questions, you seek truth. So please don't take offense. Just don't refuse assistance from somebody helpful. We are all on the same staircase. Its ok to offer a hand.
@MENCADO i understand u must and have t always question unbiased... but when u find out the truth to your existence you realize that u must surrender ur entire ego in order to become completely set free... but keep digging and researching and coming up w/ ur own conclusions until that day when the true epiphany clears the mist from ur eyes.. :)
