To everyone that thinks this is shit: You obviously don't know much about video. If the video had a higher frame rate, it would look much more like it does in real life, not that I've seen it.
Nice project. If it spins too fast humans won't be able to read it. Not fast enough and it 'strobes' on TV. A problem that can't be solved here. Nice project guy.
in the video, it looks different than real time.. the camera only captured frames so the light didn't seem like a line to us but to the director it was constant green lines
You know there's a saying that roughly translates to "the guy who can't dance says that the floor is not flat". The problem is not with your camera dude... it's the way you use it. Good luck for making a faster spinning tree though!
Go build one, lol. That looks alittle complicated but its pretty cool, could use some more lights for green or spin it fast enough to make it look like one green line of light.
lower shutter speed is what you misses man.

you need a lower shutter speed (longer exposure time) to get the same effect that our eyes see
