Well firstly, the audio is naff, the video quality is naff, the wind into the video camera is very detractive, no shooting results. If this guy gets these things sorted, I am sure he could make a very good instructional video.
Hi, always glad to see well thought out sessions. I have not read the other, so please forgive me if my 2 cents is redundant. However, when you shoot each shot and make adjustments, try showing the still shot just as it was shot so we can see the shot as you described it, then talk about the new adjustments followed with that still and so on. Your teaching is great, but for newbies the shots will help as you go along...keep posting!!
first thing you need to do is teach some of your students how to hold a camera and lens...jeez, holding the top of the lenses when shooting is something a child would do.
I'm a hearing impaired photography student and i could not understand a word that was being said..
a few suggestions... get a microphone clip-on so i could hear your voice better, add a sound-blocker to eliminate the wind sounds. and maybe somehow if possible add captioning on you tube videos. It would be very helpful to anyone who has a hearing impairment Thanks
Ps if none of these is possible it would be great if you had an assistant hold a mic boom close to you... Thanks
You're right.....we've since improved our vido and audio....check out some of the more recent attampts....I'm always looking for constructive critiques....let me know what you think....thanx for taking the time to view and comment....don
Muy muy ridiculo este hombre. 10 minutos y no pudo hacer una foto decente con tantos aparatos. El hombre no sabe mas que hablar. Desde el principio la camara el el soft box estaban mal ubicados. Tonto de verdad.
For sizzlingjoeyboy. I don't think that's a lens hood. I think it's a polarizing filter. The top end ones come on a kind of an old style bellows frame. $400-500. Makes all the colors pop and can really make the sky blue. You can get a decent version from Hoya for $90.
As a newbie to off camera flash I found this to be pretty helpful. I would have lijked to see some more finished shots at the end of the vid, however the ones you showed were cool. I cant wait to try this stuff myself. Mick.
ps, I pissed myself laughing at the on screen comment about the model. A little harsh I thought, she was there to help you out. But funny none the less.
I know he's shooting through it, what I'm saying is I think he mounted it backwards because his flash mount adaptor is tilting up.. which means that the umbrella is pointing down which should not be.. it should be pointing straight into the middle of the umbrella. That flash is bleeding out through the top. if they mounted the umbrella from the other side, it would have been more aligned with the flash output direction and would have given him a Bigger light source.
that is a technique using a much lighter material on the umbrella and shooting THROUGH the umbrella for VERY soft light...A reflective umbrella is lined with a gold or silver or white material to throw light BACK onto the subject in a large diameter.
good catch @ 1:47 lol

+1 on the umbrella being in the mount backwards.

I think the umbrella was placed on the stand backwards...

No it is NOT backword. He is using the umbrella as a shoot thru.

You are correct... the umbrella bracket is backwards. The flash unit should be shooting towards the center of the umbrella.
