you can fix this with dosbox. it can dictate how many cycles the game runs at.

basically tricking the game into thinking that you have a much slower processor.

Not much you can do, the firecracker's timer depends on your processor speed, so the faster your computer is the quicker you die, and remember this game was like 1993,

it's a problem with the clockspeed of newer computers being so much faster. so the timed puzzle runs out almost immediately. the good thing with the puzzle is that when you retry, you start again exactly where you died, so just keep moving towards the crypt, and you'll get there eventually.. after like 30 deaths.

i have a ? i was dumb and picked up that stupid fire cracker and it blows me up within like a half a second everytime i exspire i try again and i just keep blowing up i dont no what do do Please help me! im gettting very frustrated

How can I install this old version into my computer with the XP system? I've got the CD with a few demos and they work pretty good!!! I can't understand why KQ VII is not working!!!! T-T

Try setting the program to Win95 compatibility mode, 256 colors, and disabling visual themes.

Just right click on the program icon, select Properties, and the Compatibility tab. Those options should all be there.

I love this thread! Thank you so much but please please please finish it! I never finished the Etheria level...my disks were damaged and I couldn't get far past the harp! Now my Mac works too quickly to make my old disks play anyway.

I got this for the XP and got the dynamite to the grave, it took me like 10 minuets, by clicking madly on the mouse.

still no part 3 :/ when i used to play this game i only got to the part where you turn the tree to a woman again.I could never find how to enter the cave without getting eaten. Now however i no longer have the cd to try it, so i am really looking forward to the rest.Would like to see how it ends

Pressing the + button speeds up the character, so with that you can avoid the firecracker bug if you hurry.

If you set KQ7 to play Sound Blaster instead of Roland or General MIDI, DosBox will record the music. Unfortunately, the music doesn't sound quite as nice though.

This is my favorite chapter in the game, I love Etheria and it's a relief to finally be able to restore Lady Ceres to her true form. And the scene where you give Elspeth Tsepish her husband's skull gives me the chills.

I had the fire cracker problem on windows vista, made it almost impossible to play. took me 15 minutes for her to walk two screens, blowing up every half second XD finally got her to the tomb, and the headless horseman came by, which gave me an extra second to through the firecracker in the tomb haha

It mainly occurs on newer machines. In fact, I think it's impossible to play the Windows version on XP, because the firecracker explodes as soon as you pick it up.

I hated that firecracker bug. Pretty much no way to avoid it, no matter how fast you are/were.

But anyways, thanks for getting at least part of Chapter 5 up. I know some people have been persistently asking you about it (I was one of them, unfortunately), but hey, feel free to go at your own pace. Doesn't matter to me! :)
