Rich Mullins was truly gifted of God. His songs always touch. Could be tears, joy or laughter. I was on my way home after a most amazing Women's Ministry retreat in Kerrville, Tx. when I heard that Rich had been called home. I was both heartbroken for the worlds loss of an amazing man and elated for him, knowing he had joined our Father.
While all the chiefs of state plan their big attacks
Against His anointed One"
I'm sorry if you don't like it, but it's straight out of Psalm 2. Read verses 1-4, it's pretty clear what inspired this song.
Personally, I find it comforting that the Lord can look down and laugh at the scheming of people who wish to remove Him from every aspect of life, because He KNOWS how it all turns out in the end.
i have been a big fan of rich mullins because i grew up hearing his songs play on the radio and he is by far one of the greatest christian artists i have looked up to, im sorry he died the way he did but at least he is with jesus.
I am new to the Rich Mullins following having only recently heard about him through my Pastor who is leading me to Jesus. What a great artist, and no man more deserving of Gods Love, than Rich.
You might be thinking of "The Jesus Record", a two-disc set released on July 21, 1998. The first disc is a collection of rough demos that Rich had recorded in perparation for recording a new album.
The second disc is all of the same songs arranged and performed by the "Ragamuffin Band", in conjunction with many leading CCM artists, many of whom had been friends with and worked with Rich. It's more or less a Rich Mullins tribute, with some now-familiar songs. And yes... it's green.
out running around today had Songs in the CD player, this song really stood out with the times and news each day, still a real blessing...was at a Michael W Smith concert at Carowinds the day Rich died.
Before the concert he came out with an acoustic by himself and played 1 brief Mullins song, I dont think anyone knew what was going on,He went back, never said anything, then they all came out and did the concert..think of it often, his music had a serious impact on me, God used it to help me understand a little more of Him Thanks for the post, thanks Rich...
I heard this today for the first time in years and I just love the message. It is a reminder that the things of earth will all fall to dust but HE will always remain Victorious!
Thanks for posting this! This song, along with the rest of his body of work, is fantastic. No matter what else happens, the Faith and the Church of God remains, and check out Isa. 11:6, 8-9. I did not come back to the Faith until after he died, but I get the impression that he must have been some kind of modern day prophet!
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Thank God and the Fans!

You're referring to the lyric that goes:
"The Lord in Heaven laughs
He knows what is to come
While all the chiefs of state plan their big attacks
Against His anointed One"

@TheSpinWorld the same as God laughs at the wicked cause he knows their day is coming, not a good sign if your pride causes God to laugh at you, lol

Besides the message, the best thing of the song is the flute part (heard at the beginning.)

What happened to that CD that got published shortly after his death? What is it called? I think it is green.

I'm surprised he kept it together, they were friends, not just artists in the same genre who knew each other.
Later he wrote a song for Rich, and adopted a lot of his songs into the worship segment of live performances.
