IM a small engine expert... when u drain the oil from the dipstick filler tube you dont remove sludge from the oil sump and on this type and almose any vertical B&S engine its a 3/8 in internal square drive and also run the mower for about a minute so the oil is warm and thinner
Thank you very much for taking the time for making these videos....I realize there may be other ways....but I'm often a visual learner and your videos have helped me.
You mean, it is that simple?....I'd wondered how to do it for 9 years and when I inquired about it with my neighbors, they avoided the subject concerning changing the oil. Must people go to a place to do so, just like a car...i mean this is a cosmic joke or what?
yup it's that SIMPLE. tilt the engine, pour it out and you replace it with new oil and it's done. if you take it to mechanic to do this, they will charge you for something that anybody can do and they'll probably laugh at you =]
Dieselsanddiodes, Thats correct. Tipping won't hurt it, but it can cause needless problems. Every 4-stroke lawnmower engine has a drain plug. You use IT, NOT the fill hole.
@lukedoc12345 correct tiping mower over to drain oil can create probs, all you need to remove oil plug is a socket wrench with an extender, tip mover over gas side down and stick in wrench and turn, easy as pie.Have oil pan ready.

@SilentSinX7 or you could use the drain plug underneath the lawn mower usually loctaed near the blade.

Using the DRAIN is easier than tipping.
