@mikemll When the video came out I also saw a video with Mike Carabello's explaining how they had to remaster and over dub parts of the video because the original sound was messed up. I doubt there is any more footage because at the time the group was not that well known and probably only one tune off each band was filmed
i saw a clip of an interview where santana said he was on mescaline and had to go up on stage way earlier than he expected. he sure played well for bein on that level
it sounds like whoever is recording this video is singing to it in the background. i really really wish they werent. kinda ruined the video. vote up if you agree! haha!
Although seeing Santana many times during the '60s & "70"s I never was up and personal as shown in this video. I'm reminiscing as I listen . They played a great concert!!!!
@MicrosoftsourceCode Don't you mean "not sure"? Anyway, Motherjeannes is making perfect sense - They mean they never were this close to Carlos when they went to see him play.
@skinnytinny Ok on same page. I have the same feeling about many musicians and music types. Notably Sara Niemietz. six years ago I did not know who she was or why she wanted to add me as a friend on Youtube. Now I hear her music nearly every where
Santana played world music! I'm 25 years old so not from that period but I'm a backpacker and had the best nights with Santana music playing while sitting at a campfire on the beach getting stoned
I watched a documentary on Woodstock '69, and Carlos Santana said he was high on mescaline when they preformed! He said the neck of his guitar started looking like a snake! I say that is one hell of a talented musician who can play like that while on mescaline!
@problembehaviour well youre a youngster and don't know any better so we as a majority will spare you... educate yourself a.s.a.p. then we will discuss this as what it is !!! what youre apparently listening to has warped your mind but you are almost 1 that can be saved and brought around to enjoy TRUE MUSIC !!! there is hope so just hang in there and we will try and guide you....
@sexalcohoatl Unknown by who?. I knew about Santana when I was 9 years old living in Africa. They where many other people that played Latin rock. Rock and Roll, Rock, reggae, pop, Jazz and most morden music styles were created from a mixture of colours and races. I have had to top comments on my other Santana videos because some people just want to use music to play the race card.
@MicrosoftsourceCode Man,Bill Graham agreed to help recruit bands for Woodstock under the condition that Santana A LITTLE KNOWN BAND AT THE TIME perform at the show.Graham then booked Santana on a tour of musical festivals to prepare the band for the overwhelming crowds at Woodstock, since before this SANTANA had only performed for small audiences on the West Coast..."Sexalcohoatl" was right,he didn't say something wrong or stupid about Santana.I wonder why he didn't reply ??
They may have not "changed" the world, but the music world was seriously impacted and in many ways transformed because of the 60's. Those artists made it known that musicians have the freedom of speech too.
@yourmajesty07 until that "Woodstock then and now" special I always thought he was just really into it haha.
That bit of interview brought those faces into a new perspective. could you imagine trying to stay on time while you think your axe is turning into a fucking snake?
In 1969 I was hanging out at love-ins in Griffith Park, but does this bring back memories. We were going to change the world. Messed that up totally. We had the best of intentions though.
@MicrosoftsourceCode Personally for me the end came at the Democratic Convention protests in 1978. Stange how watching a pregnant woman pushing a baby stroller can change your attitude. I learned who really had the power in this world, and wept.
@innerstorm2 I thought you were around my age from your pic. Feel free to explain what was going on. I was going from country to country when I was in my early teens.
@MicrosoftsourceCode I watched her being beaten with nightsticks while her baby screamed. The moment is etched into my mind forever. I see the young ones on You Tube say if marshal law was ever declared in this country that those in uniform would never fire on their own people and I worry. They never lived through Kent State. They are innocent like we were. Dreams die hard.
I am around your age.....give or take ten years. :)
@innerstorm2 yeah i hear ya... and agree.. it took me till 2000 when the asshole bush/gore retardarama took place and man what a disgusting aray it's been ever since... i havent been happy are so called happy since reagan left...so whatever we are doomed... no matter what beyond this point and have been 20+ years..
