Sade is my absolute favorite vocalist. In my eyes...everything she touches is gold. When I hear that someone is redoing or copying or in any way messing with something that I consider a classic I get nervous because there aren't many people that can do it well. But I have to say, for having no formal training...not bad at all. But to me, the best musicians are the ones with no formal training. They seem to me to be free of being boxed in to someone else's idea of "music". Keep it up dude!!!
Of course this lengthy post is in response to the mrbasileus64 comment and is strictly from a love of music.
Josh, nice cover dude. Continue to do what you do and know where what you do comes from. Learn all you can about your craft, do it well and you'll always touch someone. One day somebody might be covering you!
Rachmaninoff, Guthrie, Dylan, Simon, Garfunkel, Lennon, Mcartney, Sumner, Cash, Williams, Still, Lynn, Kuti, Olatuji, Bey, the lineages of Konate, Keita, Suso or any number of other known and unknown performers, composers, innovators on a shelf marked "yesterday" to collect dust and be forgotten? Every note written or played "well" or in the spirit of a love of music, is an homage to all those who have come before who have paved the road we all travel as listeners, players or Youtube watchers.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and all should be respected and as such I'll interject mine. "Good" music is timeless. I use quotations because the whole notion is VERY subjective. The present or today is only moments from being yesterday and frankly there's nothing new under the sun. How do you put Miles, Monk, Hendrix, Wonder, Corea, Coltrane, Parker, Hancock, Vaughn, Gillespie, Fitzgerald, Holiday, Waters, King (Albert AND B.B.), Brubeck, Joplin, Armstrong, Bach, Beethoven...
i really like it you need to get with some of her ppl and see if u can be her pianist only if u wanna cause i kno i've been playing the piano for 6 years and i still cant learn by ear this is a true gift live it love and take full advantage of it
sade always make me remember of something nice which happen in my life but all that it gone now and i listen her since years but she will always remind me of something.....this is it her songs are absolute extraodinary, she is UNIQUE......
Keep up the good work I'm a midi musician myself, I also play drums and sing, sometimes it's best not to have formal training, it gives you your own style. I also like the fact that as a midi musician you have to learn the technical aspects of recording as well as mastering multiple instruments and types of music. So I applaud your efforts, it sounds good to me.
If anybody says anything NEGATIVE about what your doing.....they can shut the hell up & enjoy good raw talent, in my oppinion that is exactly what I'm hearing when I listen to you bro.....good shit man!!!!!
Very Good. One of the most important elements I here in your playing is “Simplicity” all of the little things that says a lot in the duration of a song that makes it magical. My only suggestion for you is to continue doing what you are doing. From the beginning of the song I notice that you took the time to learn the song. That’s a great thing to do. Learning all of the individual instrumentation such as Bass line, guitar part, piano cords is what real musicians do. Keep up the good work.

INTERESTING! As an avid SADE fan and musician, I personally think it sucks (NOT YOU, YOUR SKILL/TALENT), but the synthisized instrumentation. The snap, crackle and pop is missing and that's a huge part of this particular song. Don't know what it is, but the synth imitations always miss that THING in the song that makes up so much of what makes it good!
This is great, Josh! I have no idea what the commenter Roger Urs from Germany means about "the music of yesterday" and focusing on the present. It's a great song and the memories it brings makes me smile inside.
yeah, right! But Josh, the song IS the vocals. And YOU can accomplish that too! That's where the piano part comes in strong (I think). It gives you a chance to run up and down on the keyboard. You know, about a minute and 25 seconds in, the song begins. Then two minutes and 15 seconds later Sade picks up her singing to a higher level and gets off; the horns (Rick Braun and the sax player whoever that is) are blaring; everyone else is in a groove. This is what's missing...
thanks my brother i like it ...and sade is in a clas of her own ..i realy dont know how to suscribe but once ill lear illl suscribe still learning how to use this gaddget. the computer......peace........
