  • true might not be the same as the original, but that part at 1:48, when he sees the twin towers standing once again... if someone could really go back in time, the shock of seeing that would certainly make you realize you are not in the post 2001 world anymore...specially with the music on the background, its a shame the damn WMG came in...

  • noo WMG!!

  • Where's the sound?

  • he is a police man here, but at the end of the series hes an astronaut, please explain

  • THE SONG THAT WAS PLAYING IS "LIFE ON MARS," BY David Bowie.

  • =/ if they were guna just copy the english series why didnt they just use the english version?

  • lol i love this show!

  • I have been watching LoM US and supporting it, but very different. If they are making it their own, that's ok. But please, check out " Life on Mars- Sam goes back to 1973". Stunning piece of TV. Esp 2:05 t0 2:52. Brilliant!! See for yourself!

  • Why name the show "Life on Mars" if that's not the song playing when he wakes up?

  • Wow. The World Trade Center part was crazy. But if it were me, I'd be flipping out and running to it and checking out the inside and everything and try to admire it in person. Then I'd warn the president about an attack in 2001, and he'd just have to believe that i was amazing and could predict the future.

  • the bad thing being it will take 30 years for the President to acknowledge your awesomeness!

  • I dunno, I think the whole WTC thing should've had more of a OMG!WTF! feeling.

  • The transition from present to past isnt as smooth in this version, it feels too fast and rushed and you dont get the shock and disbeilf you get with this Sam Tyler. British one is better

  • agreed AND GET YOUR OWN IDEAS AMERICANS.

  • Great show. I enjoyed both shows, but relate to the American version, being an American. NY, Twin Towers, NYPD, American lingo makes it much easier.

  • OH NOOOOOO

no where near as good as the british one

John Simm is just so sexy.

i'm a bit gutted about it.

it's over dramatised and it's dumbed down.

the jokes were so much better and quick witted.

must agree though, where he saw the twin towers was quite smart.

STILL DONT THINK ITS AS GOOD. TRUST ME, I HAD TO STUDY LIFE ON MARS IN MEDIA.

  • i watched the UK version and loved it!

any one know where i can watch episodes of the US version?

  • the originall version was beautifully crafted and never seemed worn out. this just makes me feel it is not understated at all. it is a shame the idea has been dragged on and on. the original Life on Mars will forever remain a classic imo

  • why isnt it on tv anymore! i loved this show! this is one of my highlights of the week

    now im sad T-T

  • So glad they filmed in NY ..it was suoopsed to be in LA 1972

  • All the ABC have done is copied the original version of Life on Mars and replaced it with a crap American cast.

  • Well, except for your feelings about the American cast, that was the plan. :)

  • What I mean about the cast is that if they were going to completely copy it they should have made the characters exactly like the originals (Gene Hunt in this is nothing like Phillip Glenister in the original)

  • What did you expect them to do? Turn it into a musical? It was a great show on BBC, so stick with the good bits, and just tweak it for the U.S. audience. I'd love to see Elvis replace the Marc Bolan part! Ha ha!

  • so, if it's exactly the same script, and just have an American cast, why not just show the British version? And dear lord, do not reply to this comment by saying "Americans can understand the culture of this version more" that's all anyone supporting it ever says and it is probably the world's worst excuse. We watch all of your tv shows and sitcoms, I think you should be able to broaden your horizons and watch a show from a different cultural background from your own.

  • its all business baby

  • i liked the end when he saw the two twin towers

  • Who doesn't.

  • Looks like a good show, but it surprises me that they have used exactly the same jokes as the UK version

  • I never saw the UK version butI did grow up in New York City in 1973 so that is a far more difficult comparison. Yeah I've seen all the episodes so far.

  • this is da best show i have ever seen. I have it on serires recording

  • Excellent new show - - just needs a few kinks ironed out, as most new shows do.

  • Great new show!

  • nowhere as good as the uk version

  • I know this will be marked negatively but this is terrible! Exactly the same story as the british version but in america...deary me

  • I think the New York relocation of the set was a much better choice. The scene with the Twin Towers was a great shot and it added to the sentiment of being back in time.

  • It totally did.

  • im trying to find that clip

  • nvm haha

  • seen the show klast night looked good

  • It won't be as good as the original.

  • whats the name of the song?

  • Dr. John - Right Place Wrong Time

  • In 1973 there wouldn't have been the gratuitous violence, the car crash would have been much better left implied! =(

  • You have never seen Mannix?

  • How do you know what type of violence happened in 1973, New York wasn't the safest place to be in, it just now started to really clean itself up. And people assume that the 60's and 70's were this happy time, when it wasn't. You had some serious serial killers taking place, Jeffery Dahmer, Charles Manson, The Boston strangler, the Zodiac killer. Just to name a few.

  • son of sam and a ton of looting in the black out

  • I think that poster meant that in 1973 TV itself was a lot tamer, not New York! :)
