A sad film but one that fills you with pride, visited the Bradford City and Avenue players graves this year and will visit the Bradford Pals next year.
You really should visit at least once in your lives.
I went to Ypres, the Menin Gate, Tyne Cot, Langemark (german cemetary also in Belgium) and Hill 62 (I think that was the number, but it was the one pictured in the video). I went there 5 years ago, and was deeply moved then. This video brings back so many memories. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
RIP to all who gave their lives in all confilicts, on all sides. You will be sorely missed by someone, somewhere.
The Menin Gate ceremony is the most moving experiences for the few left who remember this entirely forgotten generations of young souls, young kids 19 and 20, who died in WW1.
An entire generation of British, French, German and Australians died in vain in a war of hell on earth that , in the end, amounted to a waste of an entire generation. It was all politics and politicians. What a pity.
i went to the menin gate yesterday, and i was asked to put a reef down just like the two men did at 3:56 of this clip, at first i was really nervous because there were hundreds of people watching but i thought of the reason why i was putting this reef down and it was to remember those who died in the first world war, so it was really worth it and it was such an honour and a good experiance to do it and im only 16.
Nice to see all the memory's coming back, last year i went to Menin Gate nd most of the memorial in northern france and belgium including ypres with my school shtc. Great experience love to do it again great video. Also i went to the trenchs at the end of the video.

@CheapAssFilmsHull Yes, when I went to Beligum we had trouble finding it, also, the menin gate, when I laid my wreath, it was the most moving thing I've ever had the honour of participating in. i liked this video and will surely notify you when my videos are up.
60.000 hommes sans sépultures "décentes" et tius les Autres. Tyne cote est un lieu de Mémoire ON NE LES OUBLIE PAS! "In Flanders fields blox the poppies... J. Mc Crea à Essex Farm en '15"
We visited Ypres in September, and were moved by the experience. Your film caught the mood perfectly and was so very well done. Thank You for sharing it with us.
I went there on a school trip yesterday it was really disturbing. 12,000 graves most without names. 35,000 names of the missing never found. god bless them!
Beautiful! As a trumpetplayer, I play 'The Last Post' each year, over and over again in my village. I'm only 19 years old, and I never saw war, but.. Respect for all those soldiers!
RIP and honour to all British, Canadian, Flemish and all other troops who died in Flanders Fields to preserve the freedom we, the Flemish people, now enjoy each day. We can never repay the ones who stood and fell, protecting us. May your souls find rest...
It seems the Belgian people are realy grateful for the British helping them out !! It's nice to see such respect and honoring of these graves and memorials !!
went through this area as a young man in the 70s and saw a local tending graves and though i didnt speak french just helped him pull a few weeds and shook his hand thankfully my grandfather survived. only after my marriage did i find out that my wife lost two uncles in flanders.
I have just got back from a trip were i visited all the graves and memorials in france and belgium and went to the Last Post ceremony and it is amazing. The atmosphere and the beauty of it all is great it is quite depresing though to comemorate all the dead soldiers who gave us what we have today.
hey, i recently got back from a school trip to visit the battlefields and cemetaries and graves of the lost etc, and ypres and the last post were the both amazing experiences. all of it was amazing, but it was beautiful in the city and even just driving around in the coach with my friends and our tour guide/teachers really made it something special. it was a brilliant experience for me and i loved it.
Well, it is a beautiful town, but for we Brits it's our Verdun. I don't know if I believe in inherited memories or reincarnation, but I felt serious depression throughout my life until I visited and saw my great uncle's name on the gate and visited his brother's grave. I suppose I met the surviving brother when I was very young, but he never spoke, although he was missing a couple of fingers and was a very angry man!
I felt better after visiting - the first in my family to do so..
Just got back from the same trip yesterday and i am truly touched by the experience, all the soldiers who fought in the war, friend or foe, should live on in our memory forever more- nobody braver or as noble as a soldier willing to give up their life for their country.
returned 6 days ago, my grandfather fought in ypres and somme ,wounded 3times but was one of the lucky ones, my very existence is testament to that.i was overwhelmed at the sheer numbers of dead. a most sobreing experience.i still feel quite numb.menin gate was incredibly moving. LEST WE FORGET!.
ive been on this trip a few years ago with school. there is nothing more moving than the last post at the menin gate. really a fantastic experience, i recomend to anyone
Great Video, i was honoured yesterday on the 2/4/09 to actually take part in the ceremony by walking and putting the poppies down it just makes you think where would we be without them, and what they have done for us. R.I.P
amazing video i visited all them sights with my regiment the fusiliers every sight has something about it ,it just makes you think and the last post at menin gate makes the hairs on your neck stand up
for people who have been/are going to see the battlefields and cemetries of ypres, you should defintely go first to tyne cot followed by langemarck cemetry. absolute contrast which is mind-blowing.
Went to Ypres last month on school trip (as a member of teaching staff); whole thing shakes you up. Is this what the human race needs to stop its undending greed, consumerism and paucity absence of spirituality?
unfortunately rabengeraun I think we are a few credit crunches away from the day when we'll recognise the seeds of our own destruction, still, we live and learn.....
Everybody should see this place, or Verdun, or a concentration camp.......
After being taught crappy "Modern" history at school, I new little about the Great War.I first visited Belgium 12 years ago and stumbled upon the Last Post Ceremony whilst on a Motorcycle Rally. I have visited Belgium on an annual basis since and have been to all the places in your (very nicely made) video and many other battle sites. Tyne Cot, the Yorkshire Trench and especially, the Menin Gate leave a lasting impression on all those who visit.
Fantastic video, just got back from there myself, very moving ceremony at the Menin gate in Ypres. God bless all those who served and gave their lives so that we could live ours.
Wonderful. Thank you.

The beauty of the natural scenes at the start of the film make the ceremony more poignant.
