  • how does the resin dry if there is no air in the bag?

  • @zdanz25 It doesn't need air to dry. Its not wet. There's no moisture. Its a chemical process.

  • is that skis you're making?

  • hi, i need a help!

i made some composite structure by resin infusion and it work well but after i have a problem ,,

when i spray 1-2 hands of clearcoat but i have the famous problem of pin hole in the surface!!

i try to degass the resin before to infuse. please, have you a solution for my problem? thank you very much

  • There are good couplers that sandwitch the vacuum bagging between two pieces (an inner piece that goes inside the bagged project, and an outer piece that goes outside of the bag) These two pieces are then fitted together by cutting a small hole in the bag over the port of the inner coupler and then inserting the outer coupler piece through the hole to mate with the inner piece and then twisting them together. You still have to put the breather under the inner piece to allow vacuum through...

  • ...but this is a sure way to prevent resin from being sucked into your vacuum tube(during very resin rich projects). You will find that simply using tacky-tape to seel your hose to the bag will leak after you have turned off the vacuum.

Remember, your vacuum should hold itself(the pump does not need to run after you have the desired pounds of pressure.

Also, you should always clean your tacky-tape surface of your mold with acitone before applying the tape(any resin under the tape ruins vacuum

  • Vacuum pressure and integrity are very important in most aviation composits as well as deep sea applications. Keep this in mind if you are looking forward to manufacturing and contracting. Vaccum integrity will look realy good to most high-tech manufacturers looking to outsource smaller projects.

GOOD LUCK to all your efforts!

Composites are truely an adventure, with a great outlook. Always explore new ideas and you will go far.

    Again, GOOD LUCK!

  • Shade cloth

  • can you recommend a good breather cloth? thanks.

  • great straight forward lesson, thanks
