FSx requires CPU power the most. So it's not al about the graphic card. The Core 2 Duo E8400 (I think that's the name :|) is recomended for FSx, not i7. Don't ask me why, goto Cessna154's channel and see for yourself.

You have a 2.67 ghz clock speed. You need at least a 3 ghz or more to get smooth frame rate and to max everything out.. Try over clocking. I'm not sure about your graphic card thou.

They are not a different series. They are both the 4800 series noob....... They are meant to work together in crossfire. All the 4890 is, is a souped up 4870.

This is a great setup for overclocking! Why you still at 2.66? You should be able to run at 3.8-4.0GHz (stable).

Flight Sim X needs to have the resolution cranked up to take load off the CPU. The CPU should be cranked up all the way to at least 3.4 GHz, and you should be able to have better framerates. Also, don't set the target FPS higher then 30.

If somone has fps problems target fps should be set to unlimited. Setting any frame cap other than that gives a huge fps hit and can make the game go from playable to unplayable.

Faster HDD less load time on FSX.

Simple as for GFX 8800GTX is fine, tho you can go higher for res and gives +1-7 FPS.

If your talking about watching HD Television than you need an HDMI Cable to watch it. You also need a HD Receiver. Your TV Service Provider will give to both.

All you need is to use a Monitor with a resolution of 1280x720 or higher. 17" screens have that. So anything larger than that can show HD.

With a GTX 260, GTX 280, GTX 285, or a 9800 GTX+, you would be getting about 10+ more fps than with the ATI card. FSX works way better with NVIDIA. Otherwise, great setup.

I really don't need to spend 500USD on a new card just to get more FPS which my eyes can't even see your eyes only see 30FPS and depending on your monitor my refresh rate is 60 so I'll only see up to 60 fps even though it tells me I'm getting more I won't see them. And the 9800 GTX won't out perform the 4870X2 neither will the 280, only the 295 will. This is generally speaking of course.

Hi. I seem to have a problem running this game on my system. I have a Core 2 Duo E7300 (OC'd to 2.8 Ghz), Crucial 2GB DDR2 800 Mhz Dual Channel Memory, A cheap Gigabyte Motherboard, not sure what model, A brand new ATI HD 4870 OC'd to the MAX in ATI control center. Now I still don't go about 16 FPS in this game and mostly its staying at 10-13 fps at the airports when Im in virtual cockpit. Im using windows XP 32bit, running on a little 14.5 inch monitor running at 1024 x 768.

Try de-frag and make sure you have more than 10% space left on the HDD that your FSX is on, if all this is done I will remind people that FSX is not a new engine, it's actually the engine from FS98 I was stunned when I heard this and the game is not always going to use all cores becasue of this. If I were you upgrade your RAM and processor, I would get a Quad Core for sure, and remember you can't just put the sliders up remember to tweak the setting to what your PC runs it best at.

No infact they're 8 core, in Device manager it shows up as eight, and the fact is they count as 8.

No minijeppe is correct, the I7's are quad cores, Intel has reimplemented Hyperthreading with the I7, which to the system split each core, so to you it looks like you have 8 cores. Actually each pair you see is really 1 physical core. While you should see a perf boost in multithreaded apps, like FSX (Since SP1) it won't be as great as if you had 8 separate cores. Still a very nice computer!!!

The cores are equivalent to an 8 core processor, infact this core is faster than the intel Xeon only when OC is when this processor shows its real power.
