Thank you for sharing your experience. Growing up in Wyoming, I completely understand what it was like to live "under the radar". I know now, that is more important to live a life of good example than fear. Peace my friend.
THANK GOD FOR YOU RANDY.....i ADMIRE YOUR INNER SOUL AND THE RISK TO SHARE, i GREW UP BEING HARRASSED AS A YOUNG CHILD, IN HORRIBLE WAYS...BUT i SURVIVED
Randy, thanks for this inspiring message. High School as we know it in North America is a vile machine made to turn everyone into good little law-abiding ( and straight ) citizens who are all clones of each other and being different was NOT something anyone wanted to be and live to tell about it. Somehow I made it out alive and grew to be a better person today, just being ME. I only wish this campaign was around when I needed it in High School. It DOES get better! XOXOX
Randy great post. Straight or gay we are all cowards. Bullys are cowards. Those that hide are cowards. It does get better. And I speak from a an who was labeled gay but not. It is still to this day a weapon may yield. Being gay is great. Being human is great. Being a bully, should be shamed.
nice video Randy i waz bullied in hs and i was afraid to go to school until another guy (straight) who was my neighbor and friend beat up the bully in the gym when no one was around. Way to go i still thank him for this. i don't know about now but in those days (and place) getting beat up was a serious ass-kicking.
@JesusIsGodOfLove So, I guess what you are really saying is you 'chose' to be fat, but you were born ugly and stupid...and JUDGMENTAL? Got-it! You people crack me up! LOLOLOL! ;-)
effeminate men have it so much harder than those of us that are supposedly more 'masculine'. In in the gay community they are shunned, an object of embarrassment and disliked. In the broader community they can be hated. Yet the experiences these guys go through (beatings, harassment) can make them stronger than those of us who fly under the radar. They are often more unapologetic about their sexuality ...
@waynieo I agree 100%! Don't get me started on these adolescent 'Butcher-than-thou' ass-clowns who feel superior to any gay who does meet their high and narrow definition of manliness! When I do inadvertently 'pass' for straight...I make certain I correct that false & ridiculous impression immediately: 'straight-acting/straight-appearing' is NOT a superlative in my lexicon. 'Passing' = EPIC FAIL ;-)
Randy, we all have to do do what we have to do to Survive! When I was in High School, I knew itwas just a matter of Time before I burst out of The Closet! You are a WONDERFUL man with a BIG HEART!
This video could have saved a life today. You should know that, and that you have my thanks for putting something so positive and helpful into the world.
Randy, you are awesome. Don't beat yourself up about whatever protective coloring you adopt to get through high school -- we all do it; some of us hide behind feathers instead of muscles, but we all do what we can to protect our cores.
thank you for that Randy i faced and struggled with this my whole life and the hardest part of it all the most struggle came from my own parents .....whatever all in a day.....♥
Thanks for this, Randy. Moving story - my strategy at school was the same as yours; I'm not proud of that either but I didn't have the guts to do anything else. Yep, I'd like to feel, with the help of a slowly changing world, I'd do it differently now....
You're not a coward at all! You did what you had to do, if you hadn't have done that it could have been you on that flag pole! Any school especially high school is a jungle and it's survival of the fittest, anyone who was scared would have done the same thing including me and most people on youtube xx
RANDY i was never under the raydar and yes was constantly beaten tortured daily to a point where i had to quit school. But i am alive and that is my point You did what You had to do and no You are not a Coward. The cowards are the ones who know what they are and make laws or violence against it. I respect You even more knowing that You will stand up for the ones who are fighting this battle. Your a good friend and strong Man
I must respect this video. Your honesty is extremely powerful. There are rare moments when something is posted on the internet that exceedes expectations. This video is one of those moments. Thanks for sharing this video with us.
Sad story Randy. One of my younger brothers close friends came out when he was just 15 and had a hell of a time with life until college.
High School is typically the worst years of anyones life has the pressure to fit in is so great. I know I didn't really come into my own until college. It was a lot easier to ignore the meatheads and connect with people more like myself after high school.
Thank you. I really connected with this one. I also had a mean look and passed for straight, but never bullied the other guys who acted feminine. I also never defended them. After 20 years in the Navy, I can finally live my life as open and free as I want while at the same time defending the rights of gays to live a peaceful life. Thanks and I EMPATHIZE.
