had this surgery jan 4, 2012 at scottsdale medical center, and let me tell you.....
those anesthisiologists don't fk around (thank god).....
they get the party started, wheel you to the OR, you make a joke to show your not freaking out, and ........................you wake up in recovery........... went home same day....
a few days of pain-killers, and healing going well....
motion coming back..........can't wait to get back on bike and ski next winter ....
is it worth getting the plate out and is there much healing after they remove it? I've been debating getting mine taken out.. the area where the plate is is so sensitive and the smallest things agitate it

I took mine out just because I have heard of other people having complications with their later on in life. I also gotten taken out because it bothered me alot when my backpack or seatbelt rubbed up against it, so I just wanted it out.
@soccerstud9456 I just got this surgery last week, hope i don't need to get mine out cause even though i have zero fear of surgery, i just hate the idea of them cutting me up again. will the holes bore by the screws fill in with new bone?
i broke it the same way, but no doctors wanted to do a surgery on it. i have this big fat stick with a huge lump on for a collarbone now :P looks fucked up!
maybe you made your decision already but i really would leave it, does no harm. If you have it removed once again your scar will will be twice as bad looking. Also your collarbone will be stronger with a plate on it. i have one myself
thats awesome that they allowed your surgery to be filmed! Check out my video. I had 5 surgeries on my clavicle & one on my femur for the graft to my collar. I'm on my 18th month of healing - I have to update my video. I since had the plate grow OUT of my collar area and it had to be removed. I now wear it as a necklace - NO JOKE. Speedy healing. I had a similar break a little over a year ago. My break was a bit closer to the rotary cuff. The plan for me was to keep my plate in forever. Why did they take yours out?
broke my collar bone on a quad going in next week to see if i need surgery

20 days ago i fall from a horse and broke my right collarbone... next week i will know if i need surgery or not.... wish me luck!!!

I had the same surgery, It left me very depressed. would you recommend me to leave my plate in or should I remove it?
