Omigosh it's my sister's ukulele! She got the pink one and I got green. It does sound worse than a wooden one though... I think I should get me a better ukulele. Thanks for this review.
Every single day of my working life I use these (makala), and deal with them. Even with the standard strings and not Aquilas, I still rate them as a beginners instrument. Far superior to the Mahalo, Blue Moon, and Easy brands. 2 penneth over! thanks for the review!
The Makala feels so heavy in comparison to the TV Pal, mainly because of the neck and tuners. I'm tempted to chang out the tuners with peg friction ones to lighten them. Tempted but I won't!
Nice! The Makala really has a much richer sound. I can kind of hear a "clack clack" on the strings on the TV Pal when you strum it, but the Makala has a really mellow sound. A lot better than I expected! Thanks!
what string did you put on the makala? the plastic strings are brutal

My "Applause" guitar by Ovation is a plastic body too. I've had a lot of compliments on it's sound and I only paid $130 for it.
That Uke sounds nice and warm. Good demo.

I like the 50s one better

The Makala sounds cleaner while the TV sounds fuller are warmer. Could be the string difference or maybe thicker plastic on the TV.

someone really needs to make some t.v. pal clones. those old 50's plastic ukes had it just right.

Thanks for confirming the neck being wood. They changed the shape a bit and it is a lighter wood than the neck on the old ones.
Nice to hear a plastic makala with aquilla's, as it is a closer comparison to my wood makala (my daughter's plastic still has the factory strings).
Good stuff, Alan. Thanks.

Best ending to a video, ever :0)
Also, great comparison. The TV Pal sounded brighter, but that Makala sound can't be argued with. Fun, cheap and playable.
Nice.
