  • It's great that Rodgers doesn't care about his broken tooth. Today he wouldn't be allowed on TV before getting cosmetic dental surgery.

  • The big giveaway is the lack of leads coming out of the guitars. Live vocals - recorded backing!

  • 2.13 is that Mozart on guitar?

  • This was dubbed and not live. You'll notice there is only one guitarist, but yet you can hear rhythm guitar chording in the background as he plays lead over top.

  • @0209KMK58 suggest you visit " specsavers " I feel pretty sure i saw at least 2 ( that is two } guitarists playing . It sounded good when it was first released and I was adult enough to appreciate it live and original .

  • @0209KMK58 This was not dubbed. His vocals are live. I see no evidence the instrumentals are either. There are two guitarists up there, plus drummer.

  • All right now...thanks for sharing!

  • singing to a backing track

  • voz maravilhosa!!

  • Listening to the American Beauty soundtrack, lets be honest this is a classic for a reason.

  • This is the definition of cool.

  • Wow! What happened to the bass player? 2:05

  • @petecatz ..indeed, he looks off... but is playing properly..

  • Paul has those sweet little baby looking eyes that probably got him what ever he wanted!

  • yesterday paul rodgers recieved his long overdue recognition for his huge contribution to music,,so richly deserved,,

  • Good stuff! One of those tunes that deinfes 70's rock.

  • To all my true friends that care!!!!!!

  • that sounds like sly and the family stone!101!

  • Paul Rodgers' live vocals are astonishing. No big surprise there...but still, doing that over a backing track at a TV gig and sounding so good is, let's be honest, rare.

  • Lip synching - WTF. good song though

  • @guitarboogie2 If you can't tell that this isn't lip synching, then you are surely stoned out of your mind.

  • @gjwalbert he might not be lip syncing but it sounds like they may have dubbed over the performance. I was thinking some of his ad-libbing was different from the studio version, though I might be incorrect. But at the end when the background vocals come in you can see no one is singing or has a mic to do so.

  • @gjwalbert yeah, i think only the lead vocal is live, there are no amps etc...here is a great live Mr BIg

    watch?v=_FhCilozomo

  • was Yes a uk or usa band or a mix?

  • Bon Scott and Rodgers Rocks

  • This is my memory of this track - 18, in the pub, got chatting to some biker chicks. Got off with one of them and made passionate love to the sound of this track which was on the 'Fire and Water' album. Sweet mis-spent sexy youth - please come back to me! I am now 55 but still horny as hell!

  • my 2nd cousin had a fling with paul they went to the same collage in middlesbrough she was a stunner then shes now a fat leszbo skinhead tatoos air wair boots the lot....pure dyke rough as a badgers arse

  • @skunkhead2006 can't get a lot rougher than a badger's anus

  • @skunkhead2006 can I have her number?

  • @skunkhead2006 If this song does not get your woman hot and ready, then she is definitely a lesbian. One of the greatest rock songs ever!

  • @skunkhead2006 Hahahahahahaa fucking quality man, best comment ive read yet!

  • oooh memories memories.....this could be a track of my life...has followed me through lots. Fab ;-)

  • great song

  • ináááá :D:D

  • paul kossof looks mad fucked up... but fuckin awesome anyway!

  • For my Daughter Natalie who loved this track wen she was a bambino x

  • The Lack of Microphones on the drums is the best "giveaway" that we are not seeing what we are hearing

  • Paul is singing live, the music is recorded but they are actually playing the right parts. The only real giveaway is at the end of the guitar solo when the fretted note continues to sustain after he has moved his hand off...

  • FREE my favorite band forever

  • Paul Rodgers and Bon Scott, without a doubt, twins separated at birth. Certainly hard rock's top pioneer vocalists (Phil Mogg and Robert Plant on that short list as well).

70's hard rock - never to be repeated. So thankful I grew up with it.

(Most of) the stuff kids are fed nowadays is pure ear canal caca.

  • @MeanrBeanr who the fuck is Bon Scott? Yes, Paul Rodgers, yes Robert Plant, yes Robert Palmer, yes James Dewar but some shouty bloke called Bon? Fuck off. you're having a laugh...

  • @arturoui whos is bon scott?haha if you knew anything about rock music you would that he was the lead singer for ac dc dumbass..

  • @MeanrBeanr Don't forget Robin Trower's James Dewar, the "Pavarotti of Rock Music."

  • @MeanrBeanr And how would you rate Chris Cornell?

  • @VoiceOfTheAbyss He's does a nifty Robert Plant impersonation, but I'm still going for the real thing.

  • @VoiceOfTheAbyss He's nothing more than a has been that everyones forgotten.Go listen to Queen with Paul Rodgers !

  • @MeanrBeanr Don't forget Steve Marriot !!!

  • If you watch closely, at 2:16 it becomes obvious that this recording was lip-synched, not live, when the guitar solo fails to match the playing. Great song: I guess they did that alot back then.

  • @Zigblues Looks like the vocals are live, to a backing track recorded especially for TOTP - I recollect that's what they used to do under an agreement with the Musician's Union...

  • @mantrib I must admit that the vocals looked spot on: just that as a guitarist I am acutely aware of when what a guitarists fingers do doesn'ty at all match up what you're hearing: even the cameraman knew, from the odd panning away during solos!

  • @Zigblues yeah they did/

  • The singer might resemble Russell Brandt, but he looks more like Paul Rogers to me ;)

  • saw them at the temple in 1971. anyone else out there used to go to the Temple in Wardour St?

  • the singer for free looks a little like Russell Brandt

  • Thks for the memories...saw then live when I was 14 or so..still remember this song...good post..one of my all-time favorite bands......

  • Magic!!!

  • Alright now! Triciaxx
