What is that woman talking? In real life bank charges destroyed my life. When I am unemployed and I can’t find a job, RBS came when I had no money at all on my account and TOOK £120 of money I have never had; and next month charged me another £105 for the charges added on their own debt!

On the 29/12/10 my friend was found dead by the police. He decided to hang himself leaving a note “I am too poor for all these rates”. He was 46

I just assumed, like a logical fucking human being, that if I didn't have sufficient funds in my account to pay for something with my debit card the register would reject the transaction. Why didn't paper checks just overdraft your account back in the day? Why did they bounce instead?

Banks are a bunch of thieving swines in The UK and US. They pay the politicians (oh yes they do, the FED is a private company BTW) so here in The UK we can't be surprised the OFT didn't stand up for the normal person on the street against the fat thieving banks!

Utter nonsense. Such a cynical attempt to pull the wool, it's almost laughable. Unathorised O/D charges make up a small percentage of a banks income. After almost causing financial meltdown, our banks have now been exposed. Every right thinking person knows the charges generate more profit. Its sheer greed.

lord Phillips obliviously took a backhander British bank customers pay up to 10000% higher bank charges than in Germany.

The news is underestimating the charges I was with Alliance & Leicester and for example if I had £40 in acc and a Direct Debit of £50 was attempted I would get a £35 pound charge instantly then £5 a day then the Direct debit would attempt again in 5 days with another £35 charge so in one week you could be charged £105.

Its not about overspending or poor money management after all don't forget we are in the worst recession since WW2 or "credit crunch"

Wait now for increase in charges. Also wait till you have to pay for getting your money out of the hole in the wall. Credit card companies will have freedom too, to charge what they feel like. Why oh why has everything gone this way. I remember when i was younger getting my paypacket in cash. Then i could choose how and what i pay. I mean a DD you can get £5 a year off your £1500 gas and electric bill Yippeee arent we fortunate.

Bank charges for using an ATM is a risky move.

If interest rates stay low, what's the point of keeping money in the banks? ATM charges will bring a mad rush to take out money and probably cause another crash. We'd have to bail out banks again.

I used to love getting payed cash and WEEKLY too. Just had a feel good factor more often. I manage alright but monthly pay still sucks.

The banks screw customers yet again! The Banks are making a killing with fees being it either overdraft or service fee, this is a problem here in the US as well. A class action suit against the banks should get their attention. They already took your tax money in the form of " the bailout" and now they want more by slapping fees on top of that, talk about drawing blood from a stone.
