  • You missed the most blatantly racist scene!!

  • what made me search for racist moments and the thing that astonishes me that you missed is when the main bad guy says "enslavement" and then they cut straight to the black guy as if there expecting him to join after using the term slave idk how you missed that one but thats the one that clued me into some racist hints in this movie

  • "It's 2011. There's a black president, maybe they'll cut us some slack." That would be a relevant point if the film was set in 2011, but it isn't. It's set in 1962, before Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. The villain is a former Nazi, so of course he's going single out Darwin. The sexism towards the female characters is typical of the 1960s. If anything, the film is an accurate portrayal of the time in which it is set. Anyway, prejudice is the main issue of the film.

  • I have stopped watching to type this as I was just so pissed off, I needed to take an break and wanted to see if anybody saw what I saw. Thank-you.

I study film and drama the BS is so apparent to me.... I felt sick.

They need to get a clue.

  • Google/Youtube has censorship on certain code words, so if u have difficulty posting a comment its because BIG BROTHER is in effect. FYI

  • THATS Y BATMAN BETTER

  • I Like Darwins Powers

  • hmmm interesting.

  • GREAT video thanks my dude ... ALL movies not just the ones you mentioned if you take heed to it. .. Hey look into the Matrix and ask why does everything important have a black name?

  • He had the best power

  • it never showed him dieing, the last time you see him ,there is a bright light.

  • I highly agree with everything you stated in this video they did the exact same thing In xmen origins wolverine with john wraith the teleporter portrayed by will I am blacks always die

  • @scottlan7 darwin may be still alive. in the comics darwin was thought to be killed in a similar way shaw killed him. but it turned out he survived. Darwin could be in a gas state. its rumored he could return in a sequal. the reason angel was the first to join shaws team was because her and emma frost did in the comics. but they joined the brotherhood. in this movie the brotherhood isnt formed till the end. And the reason darwin was killed was cuz they wanted the xmen to have a motive, darwin

  • Funny.. I'm sure if they had put a black girl as "human" mystique, someone would have complain about the only black girl in the movie being poor :/

  • thought i was the only one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • have anyone seen final destination 5? i guess they tried to switch it up cause they saved the only black guy to die in the last scene, just when you thought he may have survived the plane parts fell on him!

  • Just checking back: Intellectually speaking, KNOWING Dawrin's powerset and current status in the comics, I am curious to see if they bring him back in a sequel. Basic: Dawrin CANNOT "die". He can either adapt to a situation immediately OR (if overloaded/blown up) reconstitute his molecules over time. Get Black actors w/CLOUT 2 play characters:They put in clauses that their character will be alive at the end of the movie.

X-men 2 concider: Mondo, Celia Reyes, M, Bishop, Gateway...

  • HAha that was brilliant. very interesting points. im a film student myself and we often have to de-construct scenes and what not. It's fun but in my experience of film making most of the time you dont go into that much detail=D ha but these are films with years of planning and budget so who knows =?

  • I like how the black guy always dies but they usually go out in some sort of heroic way

  • Again, I am being insulted by the same mentality that back-fires & CREATES "black-on-black" crime. I will NOT reduce myself 2 that level. I fully recognize racism as a sociological condition in "white" societies in dealing w/ANY people of color. I hav fought 3 neo-nazi head2head 4 insulting a sister by myself, AND went to jail for punching a racist cop insulting a black elder woman, but I do NOT whine about it. And u insult ME? Hetepu! (Peace of God b w/u: ancient Kmt langage)

  • Dont forget in JP1 first guy who died was a brother.

  • The thing about Darwin is he can adapt to any situation. In the comics if he was in the same situation as he was in the movie he would turn into pure energy and turn back into a human. So he would not die. He has one of the best superpowers in marvel. I could say it was a shot a the typical black person dies first thing except this guy cant really die.

  • I see your point. But you also have to look at the actors/actresses who played the part and allowed for black persons to be portrayed in that way.

  • To "MegamanUltima"....you send me a derogatory response to MY opinion on racism, THEN - like a coward, sissy or b**** - you "block" me so I can't reply back? Wow...that's real mature. BUT AGAIN.... racism is here, it was here before us, and will be her after us. SO AGAIN: Instead of whining about it.....get stronger and let the racist KNOW you know with polish.....POLISH. And for the racist out there: I WILL screw your women IF I WISH... and at NO time will I bow to anything but God. Hetepu!

  • @ThgzNdHgz2 bitch we are not folk we are people and we arent racist were always being oppossed with our opinion by these white crakers thats what upset black people. So your either with ALLAH/GOD or ''You will burn in america for 600 years and then it will take another 600 years to cool off''-quote-Holy Quran

  • (Part 2 of 2.) #5. Chinks vs Japs. Jewsi vs Camel Jockeys, etc... historical conflicts/ racism. ANY of you "Black" folks that read this need to HEAR what the new position is. This is the 21st century...not 20th, or 19th.... EVERY "race"/"nationality" has a form of racism against some people somewhere. But "Black" folks are the ones that cry the loudest rather than ACCEPT its JUST a way of the world. #6. Tell Spike lee, Singleton, etc to "play the game" and kill a white person in their films! Duh

  • @ThgzNdHgz2 Because of slavery with Black people do why speak of it most. Racism is what kills people in violence. Maybe idiots like you should think before you post.

  • Let's speak MATURE. #1. Racism is NATURAL. It represents man's inclination to his lower nature. #2. Hollywood killing a person of color is an "inside joke" that we all know. It is rooted in its inception during a time where "white priviledge/superiority" where the norm, and plays out even today in movies. #3.DAWRIN has adapted to energy before and he returns after a loooong period. #4. Knowing Dawrin's power, Hollywood exercized its "joke" with an "acceptable" character (subtle.) Part 1 of 2

  • this movie was blatantly racist towards white people. It was a white man who tried to commit genocide by sending the missiles back towards the ships. And It was a white man who murdered a young child's innocent mother.

  • the stripper wasnt black she was like latino or tan

  • @liveitflorida her parents are lenny kravits and lisa bonet

  • DUDEE i love youu i thought i was the only one that noticed that stuff

  • you take to long to get to the point & i wish that woman in the back would shut up when your talking. the movie was not only racist but stupid

  • You missed the part where the bad guy addressed slavery and they panned in on darwin

  • its the 60s...PEEPS WERE RACIST...that and its a rule in any movie...THE BLACK GUY DIES

  • the Movie was blatantly racist

  • I found it weird that Darwin didnt attack Sebastian the other mutant did but Sebastian didnt kill him too for trying to kill him!

  • @cheyoumen That is exactly what I was saying but I knew the would kill him because in the posters he is not included. I think the movie should be called Xmen no class just like Mr.FuckHollywood has said.

  • I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who notice this.

Its white-male-fantasies to make black men disposable and take our women.

In Thor you saw the black security guy get beaten...its ongoing BS.

  • As soon as I left the theatre I was like man that was racist. I never do that but people who heard me where laughing and saying "yeah that part was racist"

his power was literally surviving and they killed him anyway. Only Black guy dead.

Fuck even sebastian said he did want to harm the mutants but obviously the black guy had to go.

And I know sebastian given the time period and his elitist mentality was probably racist but he could have been racist without killing the darwin

  • My wife and I were thinking the exact same thing. Can't just be you. I don't know what's going on lately, but Hell in the 80s and 90s there were strong men of color leads (not necessarily all African American) but then in the 2000s it just vanished. A giant "white-wash" with NSYNC, Backstreet, Britney Spears, etc. Then LOTR, Harry Potter and don't even get me started on HBO's Game of Thrones first episode. Nice vid man. Hope you post some more stuff.

  • Yo scottlane7 check this video i bet u must have seen it already

but this scene is the pinnacle of racism portrayed in X-Men: First Class watch?v=_OxMsyJ73nk&feature=related

  • @WhitePureTrue Go talk to your bitch mother like that you Edomite.

  • I very much so agree another racial point that you may not have picked up is when the guy with the helmet is telling them about how the humans will betray them when they save the world at the CIA base he asks a rhetorical question "do you want to be enslaved" the camera pointed at the black guy. I did a video about this too not as elaborate please check it out rate and subscribe thanks

  • Oh, and nice catch about the whole stripper angle. Interesting how they made sure that we knew the CIA agent was only pretending to be one, so she got an out. The sister, meanwhile, was just another angry black woman working the pole. Wait, she also sold-out the mutants. Make that, another angry black woman working the pole with no morals.

  • I just saw the movie this weekend, and I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who felt somewhat disturbed by some of the undertones of the film. You're on point with your analysis. The ironic part was that since Darwin had an ability to adapt to his environment, I expected to see him return at the end of the movie as pure energy or something. NOT! This movie was also a prequel to the first 3, so this brother definetely ain't coming back. Sigh. Oh well.

  • U are not overanalyzing the Xmen comic is a racial allegory Magneto is Malcolm X Professor X is Martin Luther King. This aint coming from me its Stan Lee. WP love to see the BM die and the BW as a disloyal slut. I do disagree with u on one point. I think Kevin Bacon and Magneto are thinking logically. There people are mutants and all the evidence shows that the humans will hunt and kill them no matter what they do.

  • @12goofyboy After seeing this trend in movies for at least 30yrs . I have to assume that the people who make movies are experts in what the public wants. They are doing this for an audience. Im not saying its all of WP but its a significant number. You hear all the jokes and stereotypes that I never will.

  • @12goofyboy Just curious what is your opinion of them portraying the one BW as a stripper and killing the BM

  • @mindcontrol31 Killing Darwin. Darwin is not black, he is half Hispanic/ African American. His powers are the abilities to adjust to ever-changing situations. He is based off Charles Darwin's theories of natural selection. As for his death. Darwin, like most the X-men have some limitations. When Shaw sends the ball of energy down Darwin's body, he is killed beause energy cannot be created or destroyed. His death symbolizes that mutants are still human and can still be killed.

  • @mindcontrol31 I don't find it to be racist. Was I pissed off that they killed Darwin? HELL YEAH. If you haven't read his backstory, it is very sad, and he's a lonely character. As for Angel as the stripper. I can't really defend it. They give no backstory to her, so our view of her is so limited. We don't know how she came into the situation. I don't think her character lacks morals. Sure she leaves the X-men, but for what reason? She wants to SURVIVE. She does not want to be treated....

  • @mindcontrol31 differently from normal human beings. I don't think the main battles between the the two groups of mutants was good vs evil as the media portrays. Its the battle of beliefs. Can we co-exist or are two groups unable to see past what they see with their eyes. That's all I have to say about this movie. If you want to say its racist, then fine. There are parts where I do questioned the producer's ideas and thinking but I do not like to call out racism unless I am certain of it.

  • @12goofyboy I see this as a pattern in movies and tv.The story of the Xmen as I said is a racial allegory that is not open for debate. The people who made this movie know this and so when only two BP are in the movie I pay close attention. I also thought it was interesting that Hancock was drunk with a 40 on a park bench in the first scene. He goes to prison and not only does he not get the girl but has to leave the planet for the good of everyone.

  • @mindcontrol31 Hancock didn't leave Earth. He went to NYC. Is X-Men based off the Civil Rights Movement? Yes, but that is not the question. The question is was this Movie Racist? That is what we are debating. Could it have more African American x-men? Sure. But I don't think its racism.

  • @12goofyboy You are right about Hancock. Im not complaining about the # of BP in the movie its how they are portrayed. Many BP are accused of seeing everything as racial or racist and many WP seem to think nothing is racist, although they seem to be enjoy or at least defend negative depictions of BP time and time again. The whore BW and the dead BM are movie and tv staples. Im going to keep on attacking it or at least questioning it and I know some of u will keep defending it or denying it

  • 1:11 how professor X become inspectah deck? Lmao...good one

  • agree with most of what u sed except on Darwin. His power is not wack, he is one of the strongest mutants in the marvel universe. its just the movie is obscenely racist

  • oh and just a funny thing. I saw the movie twice. The first time i watched the movie with my friend who was not black, and when Shaw was talking to the group of new recruits and he said "slavery" and it panned in on Darwin, i chuckled. Then i asked my friend if he noticed that and he was like "noticed what?" But then i saw it again with my friend and her mother who are both black and we all looked at each other then started cracking up! Not saying one reaction was bad or good but its interesting

  • a red and two blue mutants that made it >_>

  • n of real life in the 60's, I think. And also, if Emma Frost were black i think there would be some controversy with that too. She, Emma Frost, reveals her body a whole lot. She's also defeated, in a way, by magneto when he got information from her by cracking her crystal structure with the metal on the bed. So either way it would have sucked for an african american in either role. But ya i lost a lot of respect for this movie, no good black super hero surviver =( but on another note, there was

  • I noticed the points you made when i first saw the movie, especially the fact that Darwin was the only mutant to get killed, and i distinctly remember Shaw telling Emma Frost that they "dont hurt their own kind." YET SHAW KILLS DARWIN?! I was pretty pissed off about that. BUT, for some of the other points, the movie was set in the 1960's when african americans didn't have as great of a chance/lives as we do today, so the jobs/careers that were portrayed in the movie were a pretty close reflectio

  • and did you notice camera focusing on him when Shaw was talking about slavery? Highly distracting. Could be a coincidence that one but with the amount of other stuff I don't think so...

  • lol "maybe cut us some slack lil' bit". Didn't really pick up on the stripper thing, apart from her randomly switching sides and seeming like a heartless bitch to Darwin. Dono if that's down to racism or just a complete lack of character development (though that itself maybe because they're racist ha) but it's not like they had them as muggers. But yea with Darwin totally racist. like you said hulahoopman later could barely scratch anyone with lazor.

  • hahaha points for the inspecta deck slip Wu bangas

  • I appreciate strippers more than scientists!

  • On point bro! I was screaming this as soon as I saw the movie too... "are you following me?" --Professor Griff

  • LOL And Jazz was my favorite, I didn't like the movie after that, It was no fun anymore lol. Even the kids loved Jazz!

  • I am a long time marvel and Xmen fan. I have stacks of the comics. I was seriously enjoying the film until the blatant racism popped up. One scene was so racist the whole audience moaned. The audience was mostly nonblack and they moaned and booed the scene. I told all my friend NOT to see the movie.

  • you couldnt put it any better scott, I watched it this weekend with my wife. And i was like damn how you gona kill off the only black male in the movie. And not only that but the only mutant, besides shaw at the end. And if you think about it in x-men origins, they killed off will i am(only black male mutant). I mean come on, lets stop avoiding that big as elephant in the room america, lol

  • @fortrel1993 Wasn't the black girl Angel kept alive b/c she went over to Shaw's side?

    - On the one hand u can't be upset that a black character dies when he does the right thing and stands up to the most powerful mutant in the movie (one that even Magneto couldn't beat alone)...He did the right thing which was brave but he was outmatched.

    - On the other hand, you can't claim that it's racist when the other black character doesn't make the "right" choice...but lives through. That's the point!

  • @Rajmahal33 yeah makes since .

  • brother this is so true i was watching n just kinda looked at my dad like reallly on the bit where he said you can become a slave and stuff... check my vid on this anyway

  • I think there is a neuro-association with the name "Darwin" being the codename of the African superhero. When we think of the name Darwin the first thing that comes to mind is "man evolved from monkeys". Of course, as we know, monkeys have thin lips, straight hair and pale skin...but Jewish & Anglo-Saxon supremacy has always been based on pseudo-science and outright lies.

I suggest watching "Classified X" by Melvin Van Peebles here on YouTube. It details Hollywood's racism through the years.

  • The movie is absolutely racist and it is typical of Jewish controlled Hollywood. We are supposed to feel sorry for the Jews, who, as Professor Tony Martin has pointed out, ran the Transatlantic Slave Trade [as admitted by their own history books], but who cares about the "darkies". As for the Holocaust, or more correctly, the HoloHOAX, please visit OneThirdOfTheHolocaust ~ d0t c0m

  • fantastic, spot on

  • The thing is its easy for other people to say "o there just overthinking things there just complaining about something hella stupid its not even racist" but there not black and won't get it so they really should just shut the fuck up therez not even any point in trying to understand it cause they never will. All humans just need to die nobody deserves to live Hate Hate

  • good black guy always dies first if the black person has to survive then they have to join the villains.

  • the black female is a whore, the black man is the only x man to die on screen in any film, wtf and his power blantently negates shaws effect. pure racism

  • i think you missed an important part lol when magneto was talking about enslavement the camera pans to darwin .. wtf right lol

  • The impact, affect of this movie has happened--in real time. I guess with that autonomy the writers could have easily had him show up towards the end of the movie...to help others. The disappointment for me, does not have me point it to racism or anything...it stems from the platform that was not used which could have contributed to a positive message of strengthening unity and race-relations that is so much needed in our country.

  • lol if the african american didnt die .. and some white guy died .. lol is that racsist..??

besidess.. he had the guts to step up to shaw and set a trap .. that failed ..=/

anddd chill tis only a movie .. .peeps need to relax ..

  • i see what you're saying and i think you're right about a lot of things. you also have to look at this as the first of a trilogy. also if you look into the character of darwin he "dies off" in the comics and comes back as energy, so this may not be the last of this character. it would be a nice spin to add on to the second movie. on a side note, riptide died too.

  • As soon as they panned at Darwin when he said "Be enslaved.." I was all, holy shit thats fucking racist!

  • You are telling it like it is. I saw the movie and it was pretty good but there where stereotypes galore. Especially the part where the main evil guy was trying to convince the good mutants why they should go against the human saying they'll wont accept them, kill them, and enslave them. All of a sudden the camera focused on the black guy when he said enslaved. I was like wow..really?!

  • I thought the "Enslaved" comment and cut to black guy scene was racial hands down, but one could say all of this could have been avoided if there weren't any blacks in the film. My example would be Mad Men also based in the 1960s. I've heard a number of black people complain about the lack of AA on the show, but do you really want to see them as shoeshiners, janitors, and elevator operators? There's a black character in every episode, but she's the maid....it's better to be excluded sometimes.

  • I don't remember seeing one asian person in the movie and your moaning go watch those black only movies such as that madea crap which other races could deem racist as other races aren't given a major part and dont say im racist because i'm black myself

  • if magneto was made black you type of blacks would probably say that its stereotyping as magneto being violent is representative of a stereotypical black person, stop bloody over analyzing in the original x men movie wasn't storm a teacher. the main fact is that darwin aint a main character, the movie is about Xavier and magneto not darwin or angel, your on about how the black character joins the bad side err how many movies are there where the villain of the movie is white or is a traitor

  • Here we go again these types of blacks complaining about racism in movies and you wonder why directors are skeptical in giving black people main roles if the black character has a flaw such as being bad then its racist, I get where your coming from especially the slavery part but honestly its becoming boring always using the race card just because the character died, if the director had made xavier black, black people would moan about how the black character is in a wheelchair

  • @geniusdude114

Blacks are cast as two-dimensional characters. Is that so hard to see? Are you that lacking in critical thinking that you can't see this very obvious pattern? The general public is so mentally dull it is embarrassing. "Give me an entertaining flick to keep my attention; I promise I won't think about the deeper implications."

  • you forgot a couple of other valid points... remember when they first show them all partying in the room and using their powers? darwin was getting whipped on his back....

also when the bad guy made the "continue to get treated like slaves" comment, the first cut away was to..... you guessed it... DARWIN!!

  • By the way, no I did not "miss" the segment when sebastian shaw mentions slavery and they center the camera on Darwin, lol, I know that was an obvious point and in my response video that I'll post this weekend I'll explain why I chose not to mention it in the first video, good discussion my peoples!

  • @scottlane7 his powers are awsome and his powers are powerful in the comics

  • Hey yall just checkin in to let you know I'll be posting up a response video this weekend, I wanna chime in on feedback I've and share some things that might surprise you...

  • And 1 last thing. No matter how much a person tries to run from the truth, the truth will eventually catch up with them to give them a swift kick in the rear end!

  • @The160902 I guess I am a spoof and a nigga, a very honest one.

  • @The160902 Feel free to call me a spoof or whatever you want, it doesn't offend me. We all know racism when we see it. Some people just can not handle the truth. But, the truth exists no matter how much we try to hide it. All you have to do is simply say, "X-MEN FIRST CLASS IS RACIST. " That's all. Anybody can say it.

  • @The160902 Not all things just some of things. Some people notice the racism while others don't, simply as that! I'm only telling the "God knows" truth, not trying to be smart.

  • what about when sebastian shaw like do u wanna rule or be enslaved and right when he says enslaved they show the black people

  • I watched the Wolverine movie and saw the black mutant get killed and was pissed off. Then I see the trailer for the X-Men first class movie and notice a black mutant in this one. So I watch the X-Men first class movie and watch the black mutant character get killed off first again. Then I say to myself, "They done it to us again!"

  • The writers and producers of these movies are no doubt racist towards blacks. I would not spend another red cent on these "prejudice towards blacks" movies. And if I were a black actor I wouldn't play the role of a black main character getting killed, no matter how much they want to pay me! Part of the reason we see black characters get killed in comic movies is because the black actors keep taking the role while the racist writers and producers are call them fools while their backs are turned!

  • They kill off Captain Benjamin Sisko, black captain of Star Trek DS9 (first black captain of a Star Trek Show). They kill off Dr. Miles Hawkins, black hero from the show called M.A.N.T.I.S. In the cartoon "The Batman", one of the main characters of the show...Bruce Waynes friend Ethan (black FBI agent) is turned into a clay face monster and turns evil within the first season. They want the black race to appear lower, slower, weak, careless and untrustworthy in their movies and in reality!

  • I know it is just a movie but I was pretty pissed when they killed off the black characters. Yes, in a manner of speaking they killed off the black woman too. It's like the same cycle in every comic movie. Wasn't half as bad when I watched the cartoons. But I'm really starting to hate these comic movies.

  • I agree with you 100,000% the racism towards blacks in comic movies is why a majority of blacks do not watch comic movies. Same senario happened in the Wolverine movie. Why not a Static Shock movie? We know the reason. If Static Shock was a white guy his movie would have been out! Being black myself, I'd rather watch blacks in sitcoms much more than movies simply because their roles, especially in the most interesting of movies suck! If you do not want blacks in your movies don't put them there!

  • I wouldnt say you are over-interpreting at all. Though the scene where the bad guy makes his speech to the young mutants, he asks them if they will accept being enslaved. Here the camera automatically zooms in on Darwin. I was laughing so hard and was like: Seriously? Did that just happen? How can they NOT get in trouble for that?

  • @BikerRussell THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID!!!!! I was shocked to the point of laughter

  • The movie was racist. Covert racist filmmakers/writers/producers continue to find creative ways to show blacks as two-dimensional, simplistic pawns in the minds of the conquering, "superior" white race. I don't believe in god or the devil, but if I could use a word to describe this behavior, it would be "evil." Who knows why people go to such lengths to demean others. "Poor Jews" was written all over the movie, but not "Poor blacks." Let the blacks die a humiliating death - this is truly evil.

  • You MISSED the most important part of the movie. When Sebastian was trying to recruit the Mutants at the CIA and he asked the question "Would you rather live your life as a slave?" And the camera zoomed in RIGHT on the black guy.

  • You're right man.. And at that scene where the leader of the bad guys says "Slavery" and then pans over to the black guy... I was kinda whaaaaaaat?!

  • as a fan of x-men im mad because they killed off the person with the most unique power. as a black person the first racist thing i noticed is the just met him in a cab (no offince to cab drivers)

  • Disney is the new owner of Marvel who can be surprised.

At lease we still have Blade..

  • oops I meant to say It's all "about" creating dialogue with the aim of finding solutions, you'll hear from me very soon. Peace

  • I had said earlier that I'm gonna leave this topic alone after pushing it this weekend but oops I lied. I'm thinking about doing a video to respond to the feedback we've seen thus far. As a matter of fact, I've decided that I'm going to share a particular event that happened in my life while I was in college that may shed some light on why I highlighted this issue. What I have to say about this event may surprise you, but it's all creating dialogue with the aim of finding solutions.

  • Noticed all of this when I saw it...very disappointing.

  • Comment removed

  • i saw this movie on friday, and it really showed the racism when shaw shows up and finds the recruits and tells them they can either live like slaves, with the camera pointed at darwin, or like kings, with the camera pointed at havok.

  • u forgot about the part when Kevin Bacon is talking about recruiting them, he says he will make them slaves, and theres a closeup on darwin for 2 seconds

  • The "black girl" was mexican dummy, but the black guy part was fulllll racist

  • @PAClVlAN

called uploader dummy....lol....the so-called "black girl" is Zoe Kravitz... didn't know she was Mexican. She is the daughter of musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet (both black)

  • @ebatson1150 actualy Lenny and Lisa are both half black, making Zoe half black also

I mean come on she looks a little pale to be called 'black'

  • @gillri are you black or white? sound like a statement a white person would make. if you see her in the street, you would think she is black, because she is. period.

to tell the real His-story, all Africa Americans have some white in them (raped by your great-great-grandfather).

  • @PAClVlAN no shes actually black because shes lenny kravits daughter, i just looked it up.

  • @PAClVlAN The Angel girl is a BLACK WOMAN YOU BLIND IDIOT. BOTH HER PARENTS ARE WOOLY HAIRED BLACK PEOPLE. GOOGLE THEM YOU LAZY EYE'D BUM.

    FAHTER - Lenny kravitz

    MOTHER- Lisa bonet

  • @BLKRevolutionHDTV someone already said that u fuckin bitch

  • oh btw for the people who dont think angel is black, she is, daughter of lenny kravitz and lisa bonet both black people, u cant believe how many people were ignorant about that.

  • I hav to say that he made an exellent point about the subliminal message about the "whipping" of Darwin. you wuld think this thing as of black dieing first would subside but its not we hav a long way to go. and i personally say that most of the people who really cares about the content in the movie are black people....mostly. To end my monolouge, scootlane7 and his GF hav a rational perception of the movie's hidden messages

  • I saw the movie last night and i 2 noticed that they killed one brown mutant and then made the other one a traitor. And I have noticed that throughout history "Europeans" have fucked over virtually every single race. 1st the Native Americans through extinction, then the African people with slavery, then stealing the Mexican peoples land, then destroying even their own minorities (Jewish people), then almost every east Asian people, and now it is the middle east. P.s I am American born Pakistani

  • !OMGOSH! I have Not seen the movie yet but, I Do Plan on to. I Appreciate this vid because, even though I do Pay Attention but, at times I May Miss Points that I Should of DEFINITELY Pay More Attention to! When I Do Watch the Movie I Will DEFINITELY Be AWARE since U have Mentioned what you have Said& Listen to EVERYTHING ! ! ! Its ASHAME of RACISM Still Going On Today! People NeedS to Grow-Up, Get it Together, & STOP IGNORANCE! ! ! AweSOme& COOL Vid (-: :-) ThankS! =)

  • I was bothered about Darwin being killed off; I threw up my hands. However, I'm no X-Men fanatic, but I googled his character a little bit, and I'm not sure he's actually dead. Undercurrents of racism of the "whipping" escaped me and I'm quick to pick up on that in films. The obvious cut to Darwin at the mention of slavery was obvious, unnecessary but I didn't feel insulted. Zoe's character as the stripper; that irked me a bit. Ironically in real life she's dating Fassbender (Magneto).

  • @mmoore0325 Oh Darwin is dead alright! Does'nt matter if he is invincible in books. Long as he is a black man in a comic movie he will die horribly halfway thru the movie! If they wanted to bring him back, they would have. The writers didn't want a black hero in the movie to start with. Rather than having a drop of mercy and not have any blacks in the movie at all, they humiliate blacks by getting their hopes up with what appears to be a powerful black hero then stomping on their hopes!

  • I was angry when i saw it, I wanted to get up and walk out ,two people did. Then remember when sabastian shaw says to the red guy we dont kill OUR OWN PEOPLE,

  • I was angry when i saw it, I wanted to get up and walk out ,two people did

  • Let me say this, black people are in no position to even respond to this undertone of racism or even blatant racism in Hollywood. We own nothing. AND when we do manage to write, produce, or distribute our own movies... guess what, they are even worse. We are gangsters, girls are hos, mothers are angry evil blobs empowering their sons to do anything to take care of them; and fathers are totally absent. We want Hollywood to respect us? When given the opportunity, we DO NOT respect ourselves.

  • @phisharts As prudent as you sound, being black myself, I agree! Other races are not going to respect us as long as we disrespect ourselves. I'm often judged by my own race for not watching movies made by mostly blacks. Its not that I don't like my own race. But I get tired of watching black movies that betray us as violent towards our own race, profanity mouthing, pants below the butt, gangsters, hoars, prostitutes and rapists. They think all blacks want to see those movies, but I don't.

  • nice commentary! also, when sebastion shaw and his team of mutants invaded the CIA and killed everyone, then tried to recruit the young mutants, he said something that really set the whole theatre off (in laughter, for it being so coincidental). he said something along the lines of "enslaving" the mutants. right when he said that, the camera moved to show the shocked face of Darwin, the only black male mutant.

  • Furthermore I would like to say that ,historically, the X-men brand has been heavily influenced by the civil rights movement and it's leaders. This was brought up by RedTROCkurStation. I concur that it is a shame that such racial insensitivity could be woven into a concept that was originally (at least partially) inspired by the civil rights movement.

  • prevalent through portions of the movie to not have been intentional or at very least the producers of this film were monumentally unaware/insensitive as to how these portrayals of minorities would be interpreted/received by the public.

  • @scottlane7 Producers and directed are NEVER unaware of neither overtones nor undertones in their movies. Think about the work you put into uploading videos and working on your own website. It takes a lot of work and every little thing is agonized over. You analyze every tidbit to make sure you have EXACTLY what you want an audience to see.

  • @scottlane7 Also, I wanted to point out the fact that the Rat Pack only had the three white members shown. In case you didn't recognize them, it's when Agent MacTaggert enters the Hellfire club and she tells a group of guys that she is for the general. Those three guys are Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Peter Lawford. It so reminded me of the old Ghostbuster's video game that only showed the white characters going up the stairs to fight Gozer.

  • I said that I wouldn't weigh in on this again until some others expressed what they had observed first, however, djbside1965 made an excellent point regarding the playful whipping of "Darwin". To be honest "the whipping" was placed in the movie so casually that I missed it. But I'm glad you brought that up. I want to be clear in saying that it was not my intent to call any specific person (i.e. director) a racist. I'm simply saying that these instances, such as the whipping scene are too ...

  • I love x men but the directors and producers need to go... it makes me very disappointed that the message their sending is degrading black people and people of other ethnic groups in general.

  • @RedTROCkurStation: I agree totally, because the way these X-Men movies are made are quite opposite the vision Stan Lee put across in the comics I read growing up as a kid. Leave it up to Hollywood and their racism to screw up a good thing. After walking out of the theater last night mulling the treatment of the Darwin character, I remembered why I have significantly cut back my movie outings over the past several years. I don't need to pay my hard-earned money to support this crap.

  • Scott you are not over-analyzing at all...actually you are right on point. I saw the movie last night and I was okay with the movie until scenes with Darwin. To set it off, he is playfully whipped by a fellow white character. Even though a playful scene, anyone who knows the history of slavery in America would wonder why such a scene is used. Then to kill him off, totally unnecessary. I notice the marginalization of black characters in X-Men/Dark Knight-type movies as it is, except for Iron Man.

  • @djbside1965

Dude that comment was very insightful. Honestly I totally missed that as I watch the movie but my wife and I remembered it after reading your comment. Great Point

  • @djbside1965 Yup I totally agree with your post 100%. You know what, I said to myself while watching the Darwin scene up until his death, "Good ole hollywood sticking with tradition of killin' off da nigga first". That's why I watch these garbage ass movies on line nowadays. I'm not gonna pay to be insulted like this.

  • Its not over analyzed at all. Im sure its no coincidence. After all, the professors dream of desegregation and civil rights along side Magneto in X3 who quotes Malcolm X and leans more toward fighting for freedom; less hand in hand. Now that all makes since as it applies and we all can relate, but like you said what is the message intended in this movie? IDK I have to see it...

  • Thanks, I enjoyed the commentary seeing as how I have not seen the movie but heard of this. I saw Hangover 2. You know, you want to be a part of the movie as engulfed in the story as the characters themselves, but when the characters use terms like "black Doug" your automatically booted out of the story and forced to watch it from the outside looking in. But yeah, most all movies (especially super hero ones) have race relations, from District 9 to Planet of the Apes. Its all relative.

  • Consider this: Darwin, the mutant who adapts to his environment, is black. This implies that black skin is the best option for surviving and thriving in his environment.

    =P

  • Don't ever be afraid to speak up!

  • The whole theme of x-men is being an outsider, overcomming prejudice, and trying to come to terms with who we are and where we fit in. Thats why its so appealing to alienated teenagers. The Marvel Universe has much more to offer than Hollywood I guess. On the plus side, Nick Fury, Falcon, and Panther should be in the Avengers movie and they cant die.

  • I'm really surprised you didn't mention the scene right before he kills Darwin! Shaw is giving his speech to the mutants and at one point he says the word "enslaved" and the camera points right at the black guy. I actually really liked the portrayal of Darwin, he may have been killed but he was the only young mutant noble enough to stand against the "better breed" bad guys. I really liked your video though!

  • Yes, totally racist for killing off and not developing Darwin. But I didnt even see Angel as "black", I thought she was Latin. Also she was a stripper but a classy striper. If anything her bad side comes from her insecurities with her mutant body, not from the plight of african americans. The simular theme runs with Mystique and Rogue, and she says that she was more comfortable with men drooling over her human form than men gazing at her mutant form with the wings.

  • @majikcarpet727 She may not have been black but she wasnt white, which they made sure you were aware of. There are only two races those with melanin and those without. period.

  • Ima push this topic all weekend then leave it alone, I'm glad I live in a country where we can have this type of dialogue

  • @scottlane7 i like your points, great video
