How would a job that employed thousands of workers from Florida to Louisiana be outsourcing jobs especially in an area that needs as many jobs possible after Katrina? Career politicians they start off in the House then they work their way up to Senate and only represent the constituents who voted for them. So in other words "hey screw you, you didn't vote for me". "This tanker project will go to a district that voted for me."

Parts of the /(/ Dreamliner are manufactured in Turkey, Italy, Japan and Germany..The 787 is just assembled in the US. where are the Jobs for American...?

You failed to mention that Boeing outsources almost half (if not more) of their parts OVERSEAS! Even to China!

How!? Well, with the Euro charging well ahead of the dollar and you and Norman Dicks hooting and hollering over this contract you both are in a roundabout way telling Europe and the world "we dont want your goods....but buy ours"!

The upshot: Dont blame nobody but yourselves when European companies invest elsewhere!

Even though I don't agree with Tiahrt I do wish our local congressman was more assertive in supporting NG. At least this guy is saying whatever it takes to show his people he cares. After all, since they are politicians you don't really expect them to tell the truth. Make us all feel good about you so we vote for you again.

Mind boggling?! Its a competition for a contract, it happens because its fair, yea somthing is wrong in the eyes of the United States, i think i know the solution. The U.S will say somthing about WMD's and bomb them.

Why give business to people that want you harm? The Europeans HATE the US. They cannot be trusted, especially with something this sensitive. Production has not begun yet and Boeing is already challenging this citing irregularities in the bidding process. The Pentagon and other government offices are looking it over so its not over yet. Hopefully Northrop Grumman will pull out the deal with EADS/Airbus and reach some deal with Boeing. Again, the Europeans HATE our guts. They cannot be trusted!

BTW, we all know very why the US is giving the Europeans contracts. It is to appease them and and quite frankly it won't work. The Europeans are very ungrateful and disloyal to the United States. The rampant anti-Americanism there is evident. No matter what we do, they will NEVER be our "friends".

why should Europe hate the US? Don´t come up with this "European" against America shit. Foreign owners of US Treasury Securities for example is Britain with 178 Billion USD (Britain is in Europe) Germany 140 Billion a.s.o The U.S. also has a large trade deficit, meaning imports exceed exports. Financing these deficits requires the USA to borrow large sums from abroad. Inform yourselb better befor you post such nonsens

I could go on but the point is the costs of this decision far outweigh the benefits and it probably had a lot to do with closed door politics.

This was pretty much a no-brainer.

-bulk of plane will be built on European soil

-bulk of American taxpayer cash goes to Europe

-France/Germany Spain never use U.S. defense contractors (no money comes here)

-Airbus employs no more than 1300 people in the U.S., the most of whom work in lobbying in Washington

-Many argue the Boeing plane was superior despite the award to EADS/Airbus/Grumman

-Air Force story dosn't make sense

Boeing's KC-767 Advanced Tanker would save billions of dollars over the anticipated lifetime of the aircraft compared with the larger Airbus-based KC-30.

McCain didn't pick Airbus, the Air Force did. McCain did stop a project in 2004 and helped uncover criminal wrongdoing on the part of a senior Air Force official and a senior Boeing executive. Both went to federal prison for conspiracy to violate conflict-of-interest rules after the Air Force official admitted steering huge contracts to Boeing, including a $20 billion project for tankers.

When confronted with actual facts, liberals will always lose an argument.

The folks at Boeing said they know how to build a tanker; they've been doing it for over 40 years. That's the problem.

We need a NEW tanker that has BETTER capabilities than the one we

be had for the last 25 years. We HAD one, in the KC-10. Of course, Boeing bought out McDonnell Douglas, and the KC-10 went away. Replaced by...nothing.

This company has sloughed off enough on our dime. Northrop is the only other company that could do this, and they won. Case closed.

The last program EADS won, they told everyone they would build a factory in america also...then when it came time to build it they changed their mind. If you believe they'll build it in mobile, I have some dehydrated water to sell you :)
