I was raised in an upper class family - we also had to have correct posture and good manners. We were expected to be polite and respectful to others, speak correctly, intelligently and have an education. I grew up riding horses and competing in equestrian events - not possible to keep clean doing that (athough I did shower asap) - and driving through the mud, sand and water in the 4x4. They have no idea what real class is....with noses so high up in the air - if it rains they will DROWN

I would imagine that they whole point of learning all of this etiquette is not to set your teacups on the table properly but how to treat everyone with dignity and respect, to maintain poise and grace regardless of how uncomfortable you are in an unusual situation, and to make other people feel comfortable around you even if "they've never seen a person of your sophistication" before.
