Agree with all the comments here but what about the rear cinch? Unless you are loping around doing western pleasure in the show pen , ya gotta have a rear cinch to keep the back of the saddle from slapping on his kidneys and back.
Seriously! Not only does he have the saddle too far forward, he has the cinch too far forward too! Good grief, and let's not even talk about him pulling UP the latigo unstead of putting gentle pressure DOWN on the strap so the saddle moves down and the cinch stays in place. But then again the guy has metal clips on the ends of his reins...nice tuning fork action!
...Why was that saddle so far on those horse's shoulders? Terrible video about 'correct' placement. Most people don't ride too far back... they ride too far FORWARD.
how is the horse supposed to lift its front end when the saddle is way on the shoulders? You don't know how to fit the saddle to your horse. You should measure it's scapula and how far back it goes and put the first weight bearing weight part of the saddle no farther up then the second scapula mark. Horrible video
It is just one way to do it. This is not necessary with a western saddle, but with a saddle seat saddle I can tell you from experience that this way works pretty well otherwise the saddle can end up too far back.
that saddle is placed way to far forward, pinching his shoulders and creating pressure on the points.

@Kenz8010 He did this with the idea that the horse is supposed to be hand walked for a minute of two so the saddle slides back into place.

@7flyinghecks well if he did it right the first time he wouldn't have to wait for it to slide into place
