I love the jazz-funky stuff AND the electro stuff he did- I suppose the electro stuff shades it for me because I was just a little bit young to have heard this in the clubs when it came out and by the electro stuff in 1983 I was out there up to something or going somewhere it seemed nearly every night
@francgmaj yeah totally agree ..marpossa is an aewsome track , tunes like that and love meeting love are true gems that sadly only our generation will getb to hear...my kids aint interested !
The "video killed the radio star" era killed their music. But they once decided to take part in that circus. What most people remember of Freeez is I.O.U. So sad.
@DjJohnnyM68 As much as IOU and Pop goes were decent tracks, they sounded a million miles away from this and SF. I didn't even think they were the same group. I guess Bluey developed the jazz funk sound and the rest of the group went on to try a different sound? Personally I prefer the JazzFunk.
@maccagrabme jazz funk phased itself out.. you know how fast things moved from the late 70s to the mid 80's! now we look back we see some things worked better than others. i love all the electro inspired stuff a little more!
There are two volumes of "The Best Of British Jazz-Funk" on the Beggars Banquet labe but they are also from the early eighties and not so easy to get. A few years back Soul Jazz Records released a compi named "British Hustle" which includes many essential tracks like "Dancing In Outer Space" or "London Town".
glad i have The album of this only ever played it once or twice great condition class great family to be a member of thats all the people that love this music you know who you are Caister crew,
Remember all the jazz funk crews out there me it was the Baz Funk Force lol as i`m in Basildon Essex lol.
Back in 1980, I'd get home from school on a Friday, look forward to some Runaround on ITV with Mike Read, Grange Hill at 5.05 on the Beeb then Monkey on Beeb 2 at about 6pm, some Play Your Cards Rights on LWT at about 7.30-ish, a bit of Magnum P.I. at 8pm, then listen to a little Best Disco in Town with Greggy Edwards for tracks like this!!!
What have the kids got on TV today?? Big Bruv ? Ugh!
im not much of an uploader im afraid .....best bet is to try a site called sixmillionsteps you will find old jazz funk/soul radio shows from way back when ...also some great jazz funk mixes ,,its the only place ive ever found one of my favs ive searched years for .atmosfear..interplay!
i was only listening to an old robbie vincent tape today from 1981 and this track was on there ..was easily the best track on there along with L.O.T.W..time ,,,makes me proud to be british!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Takes me back to the summer of '81 when I was 26 years old with a 28" waist and clobbering around London in my Kickers (exactly why were they labelled left and right?) and Billy Idol hair-do. I had bleach burns on my scalp - ouch! I had the album - wonder if it's available on CD?
i live for finding tracks like this....this is so damn funky!! i also have "southern freeez" on cd, but this is some 'innervisions' type shit!! this is on that level! the bass is the key!!
A Great forgotten track by one of Brit Funk's best, I've got the 12" of their Debut 'keep in touch' in the loft! must dig it out, don't suppose you've an MP3 of this Bio??

i'm not sure, but as close as most of the jazz funk groups were back then, i wouldn't be surprised if light of the world had of guested on this cut!
